It's been almost an entire year since I read The Selection but I'm still confused about the significance of when America finds out that Kriss is a rebel. I get that now we know who the other person the northern rebels were rooting for but what does it even mean?? What's your take on this revelation (that didn't really matter at the end since Kriss was literally freaking out when the southern rebel attacked)?
@spaceshipcaptainnn thats a great question!
I think there are several parts to this. For one, as you mentioned, she knew that the Northern Rebels were rooting for someone else, if America didn't win/couldn't win, but didn't know who until that moment.
I think the other reason is because America had also just found out that her dad had been part of the Northern Rebels right before that scene.
It was a huge revelation to her that her dad, who she was closest with, aside from maybe May, had this huge and life changing secret that none of them knew about. So her finding out that Kriss was also had that secret for herself, very possibly made America realize that there were more people that she knew were involved behind the scenes, than she realized.
This, of course, is just my thought process, and my own opinion.
