So I just found out that Shantel made a joke about Grant missing Patty and he said no 🤣🤣

He is such a westallen truther. Him having to clear the air for everyone that he in fact did not miss Patty but thought the blooper was funny has me in stiches.

If The Flash had instead went with Patty becoming Barry's main love interest, I would have been okay with it.

They changed the main love interest for the Green Arrow to be Felicity. Usually it's the Black Canary for him.

Sometimes it's nice to do things different from the comics time to time.

every day i think about spallen and every day it breaks my heart

something about the contrast of spallen and westallen with the woman's relationship toward the flash. iris is so infatuated with the flash even when she's dating and in love with eddie, not to mention her repressed feelings for barry, which culminate together so dramatically when she realizes who barry is that iris goes as far to cheat on eddie in the tsunami timeline. even with her love for eddie, iris' heart is always pulled in another direction, whether it be her crush on oliver queen, her closeness with barry or her fascination with the flash. in the case of the last two, what she feels for them separately merges into a bigger love when she knows they're one in the same.

meanwhile, patty is never once drawn to the flash romantically. she tells him she's seeing someone and he's just like me too! and that's that. she mentions the guy she's seeing to him. patty doesn't get to know all of barry like iris does because barry doesn't share that with her. despite that, patty remains loyal to barry and their relationship because she can't tell that it's her boyfriend under the cowl, and she's genuinely too infatuated with just barry to consider the flash.

all this to say, iris' and patty's conflicting ways of loving the same person are really interesting and i think it says a lot about their characters. patty has a one-track mind evident in her relationship with barry v. the flash, her work as a cop and her mission to avenge her father. iris, though, juggles all these contradictory responsibilities as barry's friend, his crush, his girlfriend and later wife, a team flash member and leader, and as a journalist.

tl;dr spallen shows how patty has a one-track mind and westallen shows how iris is a jack of trades
