I’m trying to really round out a good character design portfolio by January 😬
The anime episode was a real challenge to me. I didn't grow up with anime so my point of reference on that whole realm of animation is pretty sparse. I didn't end up doing a ton on this episode, thankfully Tim Moen did all of the retake work because he knows his stuff when it comes to this world (he also drew/designed the amazing title card at the beginning of the show). But what U did do I tried to get under the skin on anime as much as I could. This is the bit spoofing "Sailor Moon", which again, I had/have no knowledge about. The boards were done by Naomi Hicks and honestly they were so good I just pretty much put them on model. I also did the special poses for the gross/distrubing/I can't unseen that Akira transformation. I watched that Akira transformation a lot of times to reference it and it genuinely made me nauseous, hah! I also did some animation up front that I will post later.
