Oh my how time flies. #ThrowbackThursday . It has been about a year and half since Ozzy Chewbacca PekeATzu became part of my little pack, family. . It hasn't been an easy, "turn key" type of relationship bonding. The first six to eight months, do I dare share that I would count my fingers to make sure I still had ten. ;) . Twice he bit me and both times, I knew I was going to get bit and decided to push forward and ignore his boundaries. . It has been in the past two to three months, he is trying to play with Curly Sue and MunchKin, he hasn't figured it out completely, nevertheless, he is trying. . He now will come up to me, lean into me, bury his head between my arm and body, stay there for about five minutes, allowing me to softly pet him. Then, he gets his fiercely independent streak in him and he runs off. That friends is a BIG milestone for him! . And, in the past month, he is beginning to lay on his back more and more. Every now and then, he gets up to sniff my face, note I am holding my breath for obvious reasons (lol), then goes back to lay down. When he does this, I am saying a prayer ROFL 🤣 . The bonus, I now can take a toy away from him without a scene. He now knows that when I do, he gets play time. . He does very, very, very well with a very well-defined structure environment. If I try to change the tiniest detail, he is not happy. . Consistency has been the winning ingredient with him. In fact, for all of them. I learned this little secret with Betty Boop, Carla Mae, Mr. MaGoo, they were the best teachers and taught me this life lesson that I now use with him and the rest of the pack. . Impaired? Who cares! Milkshake is a special needs rescue. As a puppy she was dumped in a graveyard with her sister, because she wasn’t “perfect.” She might have been born without eyes and be prone to seizures, but that doesn’t stop her. Her 5th sense is adventure! We love hiking, sniffing out treats, and playing fetch. That’s right! She can fetch! There is nothing that she’s afraid of and I think we can all learn a little something from her. There are no disabilities, only possibilities! We only hope to show the world that no dog is “broken” and that blind pups can still smell love.
