men are gonna be so pissed when they realise young avengers are mostly women and a bunch of queers led by a brown girl and i love see how men cry so easily for that

I absolutely adore Billy with all my heart but we DO NOT see enough of Tommy. Yeah I get it, a guy who can warp reality using magic is far more interesting than a speedster, but who cares about superpowers if the character is at least interesting?

He is ALSO the son of the Scarlet Witch. He is the other half of two souls who migrated back in time to take new bodies (or whatever the super complicated comic explanation is). He went to juvie. He’s hotheaded and competitive and reckless and fun. He played with Molly. He’s really cocky but has moments where he’s super sweet. He loves his found family and his team because he has NO ONE ELSE. He blew up the UN building and I find that morbidly hilarious. I would love to learn more about that.

It’s so disappointing that he hardly appeared at all in YA Vol. 2 due to the Patriot lookalike situation. It’s certainly an interesting plot point, but it feels like a disservice to him by sidelining him unnecessarily. There’s a whole arc in that run about following Patri-not across dimensions to find Tommy with absolutely zero payoff. And the way Tommy finally comes back is by David kissing the thing? In the last (2nd to last? Idk) issue?? And he just continues on like nothing ever happened???

This guy deserves so much better than small cameos and appearing alongside Billy almost exclusively.

Tommy deserves a solo run. There’s so much of his character that’d be interesting to explore. I think he’d stand a lot stronger on his own if given the chance to explore his character outside of the Maximoff family chaos. Marvel will likely never do it. It took ages to give Billy his own solo run, after all. But one can dream.

TL;DR: Tommy Shepherd deserves more love from Marvel.
