Now I have to start playing speed battle again

3h animation speed battle on the theme of ‘martial arts’. Referred to this video for reference.
Following the body mechanics of the ‘tornado kick’ is really fascinating; I hope at least come of it comes through in what I had time to draw! Some process comments below...
I can’t play anything without getting my little grimy AU/fan theory fingers into it, so here’s some doodles of my Forces Speed Battle main from the last few years! There isn’t really... plot... to sonic forces speed battle.. Apart from that we’re racing to win phantom ruby prototypes (???) but I like to infer that the player characters are ruby illusions/phantoms because:
Players teleport in to the racetrack with the ruby ‘cube’ effect.
Multiples of the same person can appear at the same time.
Fanciful versions of characters (eg. easter themed cream, zavok in *sports gear*) exist at the same time as everyone else in a sonic forces-styled setting.
Characters from different franchise universes can appear (eg. longclaw, baby sonic, classic sonic).
Some characters inexplicably have ruby based abilities (eg. Espio, Rouge).
Once racers touch the phantom ruby at the end of the track, they dissipate.
So! My take on the whole thing is that the players are either ruby illusions, or people in-verse using phantom ruby prototypes to create custom illusions to race against each other! The prizes being cash, as well as more pieces of ruby prototype (to make their illusions stronger?) There’s some design similarities between the trophy and medal aesthetics and the Donpa Motors aesthetics in Team Sonic Racing... So maybe this is Donpa messing around with types of energy and ways of racing? Dodon Pa isn’t beyond using people as experiments for his company after all! Alternatively, it could be something that developed as a kind of illegal street racing during the wartime/apocalyptic Sonic Forces setting! Anyway, my speed battle Charmy is interpreted as a self-aware illusion, who wants to win that nice big grand prize ruby so that he can become a real boy be independent of the speed battle racing ring and not have to worry about disappearing one day if someone decides to turn his illusion off. His nickname is Maybee!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
TOMORROW IS LITERALLY MY BIRTHDAY
