Speed Day/Keto Thoughts
In my experience, training for someone who is past 40 years old should include stuff that resists a slow age-related performance loss. Foot speed and VO2max are some of the things that disintegrate. Also, I’ve read that athletes older than 50 disproportionately benefit from HIIT type work. So, speed intervals.
8 x 2 minutes @ 7:00/mile pace with 1 minute rests. 4.77 miles in total. On a treadmill because I can select specific pacing. Was a sweaty mess.
A tip for ketogenic runners. Training in this state requires several adaptations. Among them is insane sodium/salt supplementation. One explanation is that the lack of carbs causes more fluid loss which causes less sodium retention. Whatever. Since I’ve been ketogenic my running heart rate has increased by about 10%. I recently discovered that this returns to “normal” if I drink a cup of bouillon or broth before I run. Seems my heart performs more efficiently with added sodium.

SPEED will be on "SPEED DAY" comeback
SPEED will make a grand comeback on SBS MTV from 6PM to 12AM, six hours straight on the 17th (KST).
SBS MTV has scheduled this day to be "SPEED Day" and will feature everything related to SPEED during those time slots.
The airing schedule is as it follows: 6PM: SPEED's "Idol DaebekGwa" 7PM: SPEED's comeback showcase video on the 12th 8PM - midnight: SPEED's reality program "Wild Story"
Meanwhile, SPEED's comeback song will be released on all Korean major music sites as soon as it hits midnight.

Back. Conservative again. Particularly w/squats (supposed to be rep outs and went nowhere near that). Cut block pulls at 20 reps each- see no point in exceeding 20 reps on DL movements. Plan on increasing %'s when doing this kind of accessory work. Still, great to be in gym. Took mind off things.
