Spicer Squad Chapter 8 Sneak Peek

A Spicer Squad update? In MY 2025?? It's more likely than you think.

Chapter 8 is almost done, and I'll be going on holiday soon to a place with no Wi-Fi, so I can write the next few chapters in peace without doomscrolling and cute kitten videos. In the meantime...

“And if you think ‘Evil Dream Team’ was stupid…” Katnappe said, leaning closer to Morgan. “Wait till you hear what Jack thought up last week.”

Jack felt like a parent driving on a long road trip, powerless to stop his kid’s antics. The best he could do was yell over his shoulder, “Hey, Spicer Squad was a cool name!”

Morgan frowned. “Wait, you mean from the…?”

“First film.” Katnappe nodded. “Yep.”

Morgan’s face screwed up like a baby being introduced to a lemon. “Oh, you like that Joker?” Jack didn’t like the blank up-and-down Morgan gave him. “Yeah, that makes sense.”

Jack groaned. For Evil’s sake, he’d had this argument too many times. Online and off. “Come on, he was so cool! ‘Oh, I'm not gonna kill ya.’” He slipped into that super evil, super menacing growl. “‘I'm just gonna hurt ya really, really bad!’ Perfect villain talk. No notes.”

Silence took over the jet. Then everyone except Jack laughed. Le Mime wiped invisible tears from his eyes.

Jack scowled but kept his eyes on the skies. “Minions,” he muttered.

I just wanted to say that I really like “Spicer Squad”. Not only it is super fun to read, but it really feels like a sequel to the original series. If I may ask, do you have any headcanons you can tell us about Jack and his Dream Team?

(I’m sorry for taking so long to answer this things have been pretty crazy atm)

Thank you so much Anon!!! I’m glad it feels like a sequel, as that’s the sort of vibe I was going for with this.

I’m currently typing up Chapter 7, so to tide y’all over...

Jack

·         He’s autistic, with a special interest in robotics and machinery

·         He used to go to elite private schools, but got so badly bullied his mother pulled him out of school at 10 to get tutored by university professors

·         Jack’s father disapproved, claiming Jack was being a ‘snowflake’, until he saw Jack was way ahead of his peers anyway

·         Jack’s more comfortable with robots than people, as he can predict their actions and he doesn’t have to ‘read’ their faces all the time

·         Secretly sees his crew as friends, with Vlad as his best friend, but would never admit it

Le Mime

·         He’s non-verbal autistic!

·         Canadian, but developed a special interest in miming after seeing a performance in Quebec as a child

·         After being put down for not talking all his childhood, he felt like he’d found an area he would thrive in, so he moved to France right after high school to train as a mime

·         Learnt about his magical abilities as a kid (and his bullies did too, very quickly)

·         His ability is a type of Heylin magic, but unusually he can’t perform any other type of Heylin magic

·         Can see through Jack’s bravado and has made it his life’s mission to get the kid to open up

·         He’s failing (for now)

Katnappe

·         Even more neglected by her parents than Jack if that’s possible

·         Her parents haven’t noticed that she’s moved into the condo she scammed out of Wuya

·         Her elite high school HAS noticed, but since she’s in senior year and her fees are still rolling in, chasing her up hasn’t been their top priority.

·         She left school in the middle of her sophomore year to become a full-time evildoer.

·         She used to be part of the popular crowd, but her love of science and eventual obsession with evil distanced her from them.

·         Nowadays she can’t name any true friends apart from (very reluctantly) Jack, and Vlad and Tubbimura

·         Tubbimura is the one she’s friendliest with

·         Doesn’t want to go to college apart from for the social life – why should she? She’s making so much money being a master thief!

·         Like Jack, she loves science, dabbling in robotics and genetic engineering

·         Part of her would like to become an official scientist one day, but at the moment she’s having too much fun living the glamorous master thief life

Vlad

·         Genuinely considers Jack a friend and enjoys hanging out with him, despite teasing him sometimes.

·         His family has no idea of his side business as an evil henchman; as far as they know his only business is being a cart vendor

·         Said business has been in the family for 3 generations

Tubbimura

·         From an elite sumo wrestling dynasty

·         His family naturally finds it easier to put on weight, which they’ve used to their advantage

·         But our boi Tubbi has always wanted to be…a ninja

·         His family kept trying to tell him that job doesn’t exist anymore but Tubbimura decided to follow his dreams anyway

·         Turns out being a ninja still comes in handy in the mercenary industry

·         Respects Katnappe and her thieving skills

Spicer Squad Chapter 6 Sneak Peek

Thank you all so much for waiting! I’m so close to finishing Chapter 6 of Spicer Squad, but real-life shenanigans have delayed it a bit. Thank you for your comments and excitement!

Without further ado, next time on ’Ask and ye shall receive, Jack’...

They advanced towards Pandabubba’s complex, a looming presence even in the skyscraper city of Hong Kong. Now guarded by big cats. Vlad let out a low whistle as they stood beneath its walls.

“If I was not doing heist, and you asked me if this was good idea,” he said. “I would say you are crazy.”

Even Le Mime nodded. Jack just laughed, the laugh of someone getting closer and closer to done.

“You’re right.” He turned to face his team, arms wide in defeat. “You’re right. Who would be crazy enough, desperate enough, to agree to distract a demon and a lizard-man with twenty-four hours notice?”

Spicer Squad Chapter 5 Sneak Peek

Hello there.

Chapter 5 is almost done and I’m a lot further along with it than I thought I’d be, so I thought it would be time for another sneak peek!!

So without further ado...

Next time on: ‘Jack’s making a list, he’s checking it twice, he’s about to find out this will be a hard heist...’

After two days they had three problems.

One: Hannibal and Salvador. No one was willing to distract them and risk getting their head ripped off. Jack still hadn’t found an alternative form of bait.

Two: He still hadn’t narrowed down which room the Wu was locked up in. He was 99.99999% sure Pandabubba would stash it in the same place as last time, the room with all the lasers, but an annoying voice in the back of Jack’s mind kept reminding him he hadn’t actually seen the Wu in there yet. But, answered the more exasperated part of him, where else could it be?

Problem Three revealed itself during Jack and Vlad’s stakeout.

Jack’s eyes, magnified through his Super Evil Binoculars (Trademark Jack Spicer) surveyed Pandabubba’s courtyard and its significant increase in guards. A peek through the windows revealed why.

“Yep, that’s a lot of big cats.”
