Crab spider 》 possibly Mecaphesa asperata
Southeast Texas, 27 March 2026
I spotted the TINIEST most precious little baby jumping spider on my roses this morning and if anyone could help me identify it I would love you forever! spiders change appearance so much as they molt and grow bigger, I can’t figure out what this little guy is!
east coast/appalachia north america
I need help identifying a jumping spider
I’m just sitting outside and there was this absolutely teeny tiny jumping spider that started crawling around on my phone We played around for a bit and it jumped around from the grass, to my hands, back to my phone. Then it started wandering away and I only got one picture of it before it disappeared and now I want to know what kind it was.
Its body was mostly black-ish brown, but the booty had these white markings, and its legs were yellow. I tried looking it up on duck duck go, but I couldn’t find any that looked like it.
I’m obsessed with jumping spiders. Anyone know the species? I haven’t really seen ones like these. I usually see black and white ones, as well as brown ones.
anyone know what kind of spooder this is? pretty sure it's a wolf spider but idk
does anyone have insight on what kind of jumper Peanut is?? i found him in western PA (living in a peanut shell; i took him in cuz it’s been getting chilly at night and i have a bunch of spider keeping stuff) but we only have bold jumpers and asiatic wall jumpers around my area and he doesn’t have the same shape or color.
im legitimately stumped bc i dont know how old he is, i only know that he just molted. and pics of him are almost indistinguishable from baby regals:
But we don’t have regals around here other than with breeders! maybe one escaped? idk, it seems a little too crazy for me to have just randomly found a species of jumper ppl frequently breed and keep as pets lol. so if anyone knows of any other common species he could be, lmk!
im inclined to think he might be a bold jumper just cuz it’s the closest possible thing, but i’ve also been told by ppl with more expertise than me that his shape doesn’t really match up with them. quite a mystery lol.
Indoor spider! Spider lovers please ID.
In Helsinki, Finland, May 6th, 2026. See size from the raster color dots of the print next to it.
It's going to be hard to carry all of these books around at all times just in case I or someone I know finds a cool bug.
Mmm I'm so full of australian spider field guides (4 of them now).
