A night out on the town. Ft. Splight
There was no ponies in the streets of Ponyville tonight, a fact that was both a blessing and a curse as a tall, dark, an oh so terrified figure wandered through the vacant streets. Something has gone horribly wrong, they muttered to themself. There was a twinge of fear and uneasiness in their eyes, limbs shaking with each step they took as they meandered towards a home, any home that would let them in. In their current state however, they doubted anypony would accept them outright. They needed somepony to talk to…
The figure stepped out into the pale moonlight, letting Luna’s moon shine a revealing ray onto their identity. They were fairly tall and appeared reptilian in nature. Polished purple scales shimmered in the moonlight as their eyes wandered about, always wary of some pony spotting them. To the untrained eye in this darkness, one might have confused this figure with Spike, the loyal dragon assistant to the Princess, but upon closer inspection, they seemed far different. For starters, the presence of wings and a slightly curved horn was an uncommon sight. Sure, dragons had horns, but none like those one might see on a Unicorn.
The next thing one would notice is their eyes, those mismatched glowing green and purple eyes. Their gaze was far reaching, far more than what they were normally accustomed too. The dragon-like figure ran a clawed hand through their indigo mane as they tried speaking reassuring words to themselves, but to no avail. They were panicking, nearly shouting to themselves as the figure tossed out accusations about a botched spell here and failed experiment there. Silence overtook the figure as they realized they were alone, seemingly shouting at no pony…
They noted their depressing situation and continued searching for somepony that would understand their woes. To make matters worse, all their friends are asleep, so it’s not like finding the right one was going to be easy.
They started listing off ponies and reasons why talking to them would be a good idea. Fluttershy, the kind Pegasus that always has an ear for those in need. But then a doubt appeared in thief mind. Fluttershy was deathly terrified of dragons, and they certainly looked the part. There is no amount of talking they could do to get help from her at the time being,
Rarity, the generous Unicorn. Surely she’d be willing to listen, perhaps let them spend the night at her place while the figure things out… But doubt found them again. This present form and… *His* relationship with her, things could get awkward fast. No… There were simply too many variables.
Pinkie Pie, the… On second thought, not her. She’d probably get excited about meeting a new friend and throw a party, even this late into the night. Knowing her parties, everypony would be there, night time or no… Having this revealed like that is certainly a nope!
Rainbow Dash, the dependable, loyal mare. She’d help a friend in need, and they certainly needed help. But… Would Rainbow even recognize them? Would she see them as a monster? With her track record with fighting things she doesn’t understand and asking questions later, it may not be the best idea. There is also the thought that reaching her home on unsteady wings and unknown magic levels makes it really risky.
Maybe Applejack? She probably would have enough room in their family barn for the drake to hide away for a while while all this blows over. But what about Applebloom and the other crusaders. They are still pretty young and might not understand the situation should they find them like they are. Having an angry AJ on your flank because of accidentally scaring her sister is not something that anypony would enjoy. Those hooves of hers could beak trees if she really wanted too…
All this just seemed to justify why the dragon locked themselves away in the Princesses castle. Less chance of getting discovered in the wrong way that way. But… it was only a matter of time before somepony looks to see where their beloved princess and friend has gone, and they wouldn’t find her. All they’d find was an abomination, a monster, in her place. He, she, it… They didn’t even know anymore. All they do know is that they are the amalgamation of Spike the dragon, and Princess Twilight Sparkle. They are not one being, nor are they simply two…. They simply are, for better or worse.
This… Spike/Twilight hybrid. This Splight… They knew they needed help, but if they can’t turn to their friends, the ponies closest to them, than who can they turn to?
That was when an idea occurred to them. Why not Celestia? Surely she could help them! A thousand years of knowledge and advice could do wonders right now. All they’d need to do is write a letter and have Spike- Oh… That’s right. They can’t! They don’t even know is the two of them can even get a letter to Celestia, much less write the darn thing. Oh, the uncertainty of their new body…
And it’s not like they can get a good scan of themselves either. They are too unstable for that sort of thing right now, but… What if this becomes permanent? What if they wait too long and their body stabilizes into one that can’t be unfused? Their mind reeled at this. Their parents, their friends, even the Princesses would need to get used to them all over again. It’s not like they can just pick things up from before and pretend nothing is wrong.
It’s all wrong… And it was all their fault. They cursed to themselves. What a terrible web they wove. They made their bed, and now they must sleep in it. Speaking of sleeping, it will soon be day time, marked by the rise of Celestia’s sun. All the early morning ponies, like AJ, will be coming by soon. They had spent so much time musing and walking around that they wasted all the precious hours they had for privacy and problem solving. In a panic, they rushed back to the castle, shutting themselves back in as they hid themselves away from the world…
One way or another, they vowed to get to the bottom of this. But not right now. They’re too tired to think on the matter much more. Perhaps sleeping on it might help, that is, if they can even get to sleep this time.
The End.
