Lately we've been splitting a lot. And our partner got us a switch with splatoon on it. We thought of a term, Splitfest. Instead of splatfest?
Is that anything. Does anyone else think thats a CLEVER term for a system whos splitting a lot? Is that OKAY?
Pumped to finally get out splitting this weekend 🙌🏼 it’s been an intensely busy rep season and snowpack has been elusive, but it’s finally hitting. Thanks @sarstow for linking and hope to see friends and make new ones at @emgeeevents #PicoHiko #Splitfest next Friday at @picomtn! Bravo @rastavt802 for your hard work expanding backcountry access, this was a very fun zone. (at The Long Trail) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8uF4pmJLMy/?igshid=vhlernvytwp1
Looking forward to hosting my first @emgeeevents snowboard event, #PicoHiko #Splitfest at @picomtn! Find your Valentine crush with a whole slew of @jonessnowboards demo splitboards, along with @neversummerindustries, @darksidevt, @burtonsnowboards & a growing list of exhibitors. Come join the fun! #emgeeevents #splitboarding #splitboard #earnyourturns #picomtn #pico #picomountain #killington #killingtonVT #jonessnowboards #jonessplitboard (at Pico Mountain)

5 Splitboard Festivals (Splitfests) you should check out!
This weekend is the upcoming Mt Baker Splitfest! It got us thinking “What are some of the best dedicated splitboarding events out there?” It’s the perfect time of year to start planning your backcountry adventures for next season so why not hit up one of these events? Here are the top 5 Local Freshies’® picks for Splitfests across North America.

Mt Baker is home to the Legendary Banked Slalom and access to some of the best side country in the nation, maybe even in North America. This festival is dedicated to bringing Pacific Northwest splitboarders together and raise money for the local avalanche center. It’s also an opportunity to demo splitboards and meet Mt Baker backcountry enthusiasts that really know the wilderness in this region.
When: March 17 – 19, 2017
Where: Mt Baker, Washington
*Note: You will need to have your own avalanche equipment & understand how to use it (beacon, shovel, probe, & skins)
#2: Canuck Splitboard Fest

In its seventh year, this festival was the first ever Splitfest in all of North America. Founded by Wade Galloway (aka TreePilot), his vision was to unite people who shared the same passion for splitboarding, mountains, and Revelstoke. It’s one of the largest gatherings of splitboarders in the world! Finally, all proceeds of the silent auction & raffle go to Avalanche Canada through the Avalanche Canada Fund and the Craig Kelly Memorial Scholarship.
When: Early January
Where: Rogers Pass, British Columbia
*Note: This event will not have any guided tours
#3: Ascend Splitboard Festival
A bit different from other events, Ascend is a guided split & snowboard festival into the wilds of Jasper National Park. The largest of Alberta’s Rocky Mountain national parks, Jasper provides access to some of the most scenic mountains in the world. The best part of this festival is everyone can enjoy it! All skill levels are welcome to register from super human mountain goats to newbies.
When: 2nd weekend in March
Where: Jasper, Alberta
#4: Silverton Splitfest

Nestled in the SW corner of Colorado, Silverton is a small town with minimal inhabitants and big mountains. The perfect combination for a backcountry mission. From a companion rescue refresher course to education talks and free splitboard demos, it’s a great time to check out Colorado’s San Juan Mountain Range.
*Note: This event will not have any guided tours and you must bring your own avalanche equipment & understand how to use it (beacon, shovel, probe, & skins)
When: April 13 – 16, 2017
Where: Silverton, Colorado
#5: Bolton Valley Splitboard Festival

If you think there isn’t a backcountry festival on the East Coast, you’re wrong! This event gives everyone the opportunity to take Uphill 101 courses, demo equipment, and even go on backcountry tours. It’s a good introduction to splitboarding for anyone.
When: 2nd week of March
Where: Bolton Valley, Vermont
As you can see, there’s a Splitfest in nearly every region across North America so no one gets left out. These events are a perfect way for you to try splitboarding without having to buy all the gear. And if you’re already hooked on it, it’s a great way to meet other backcountry folks that love the sport as much as you.
