talking w @piexperiment on twt while i watch s14 and this is my latest hot take ༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽
ok so i'm watching the eps rn where Jack is super sick and i skipped the deanmichael episodes but i don't think i missed anything bc i watched the recaps and i just can't help thinking about how Dean was against Jack from the beginning even before he was born–
dean wanted him dead and he refused at first to even judge him by his own character . and Sam , who has every right to fear and distrust the child of his abuser , decides to give him a chance anyway might i add he was not influenced or shown paradise the way that Cas was ,
so i think that after Jack realizes he's dying he's going on hunts with Cas , he has a good relationship with Sam - they're all good .
but then there's Dean who's beating himself up over the Michael possession which i'm not gonna go into , but i think that Jack in a way can empathize with Dean based on the way he's accidentally caused harm while trying to control his powers , and the things that happened in Apocalypseverse .
but the point is , i really think he decided to spend possibly his last day with Dean to show him that there are no hard feelings between them and that Jack wants to cultivate the same goodwill with dean as he has with cas and sam .
and that really just made me so sad honestly bc Dean is almost always belittling him in some way and constantly being mistrustful and Jack still makes so much effort in spite of that ,
and whether it's intentional or not i think that's a glaringly obvious example of Dean perpetuating John's cycle and i think it's beautiful that Jack is working to break it , which really adds to him being almost the antithesis of Chuck who only wants to continue on this endless loop of neglectful , untrusting fathers because in a way that justifies him and declares him righteous , uses Him as an example of what fathers should be like .
but to see that broken by Jack reaching out and asking dean to take him fishing , rewriting one of Dean's deepest John memories is just really beautiful and v sad but IDK IDK IDK
