I've had a lot of thoughts lately about writing and encouraging writers, and I've seen "wip weekends" where people request 3 new sentences to a fic, and I had the idea: why don't people sponsor stories?
So like when you sponsor an animal, the writer would be obliged to keep you updated. If they haven't worked on it over the month, an explanation or apology should be offered perhaps with some snippet of where its going next. Teasers for progress could be shared. Potential dates of publicly sharing suggested. You get the drift.
Ideally the sponsor would also be engaged with encouraging the writer. To be clear, I'm not envisaging any sort of monetary sponsorship both because that feels wrong and I wouldn't want to discourage anyone. Just put your name to a fic for updates. So? What do people think?
