after Feetman loses his arm is Freemind especially protective of him? like Freeman definitely is but at that point Freemind has actually kinda made friends with the two and seeing Feetman so fucked up freaks him out and makes him especially angry and protective?
OH YEAH FOR SURE
and thats the thing- freemind still isnt one to be outwardly affectionate and he sort of doesn’t want to yet
feetman and even freeman did care for him when he was down, and he’s awkwardly wondering how to try reciprocate that when they need it most. sort of like? he wants to maintain the ‘tough guy’ exterior even though it was one of his lowest, most vulnerable points in his life.
feetman doesn’t question it further when hes used as an anchor. he makes up for the blind spot in freemind’s left side (and neither of them know freemind would make up for feetman’s right side later on.)
he does worry when the arm loss happens. he worries a lot.
freemind wakes up from a really bad concussion, from a corner that’s sort of hidden and safe. he finds freeman next and helps him out.
THEN they find the severed arm in that familiar orange suit with a blood trail leading to the trash compactor
that. is pretty traumatizing ! especially when the owner of that arm is someone you’ve learned to get along with and who is also kind of your alternate self
freemind’s still hesitant to hold him past the usual medical stuff. freemans stayed with feetman the longest, but they need to watch in shifts.
he still wants to be mean, because that’s kind of what he does. but it doesnt hold the same bite as before. feetman laughs weakly- its some sense of normalcy they got going. freemind goes on to ramble about things completely unrelated to their situation to try distract him and also try to bore him to sleep so he can rest up some more
he does channel all that meanness and aggressiveness toward hostiles, because ‘fuck them, they fucked up my friend! yeah, take that you big jerks!’
his way of showing he appreciates and cares is strange, but he does care
