A cloaca is the common cavity into which the intestinal, urinary, and reproductive canals open in birds, reptiles, amphibians, many fishes, and certain mammals.

In fanfic, a cloaca is the sexual canal that is utilized not only for breeding, but for pleasure as well, replacing vaginal or anal openings in standard human intercourse. It is most commonly seen in mermaids, fish, and birds.
