Dale’s log catch up and Highland Games....?
I have not posted in a while, but training has been going as planned. I won’t go all the way back and bore everyone with all the workouts from the previous weeks, but here are the last few.
Squat Saturday. I have been using lifting shoes with an elevated heal for the past 2-3 weeks and have been liking them a lot. The week before I worked up to an OK single with 465. This week was 375 X 4 sets of 3 and added wraps for one set of 4 at 415.
Hack Squat: 3 sets of 10
Back extensions: 3 sets of 15
Highland Game Practice in the rain afterwards. Danielle Curry and Joe Wilson were nice enough to show me the ropes so I could compete in my first highland games contest this weekend. I had seen people do them before and have always been interested, but never actually touched an implement before Saturday. I had a blast learning all the events although I am fairly certain I will be horrible at most everything.
Monday Bench training: I am up to a whopping 225 X 5 sets of 8 for bench.
Spoon press: 40 lbs X 5 sets of 10
Pushdowns with short ab strap on the triceps lat pulley. 200 reps with 50 lbs. Did them 10 at a time and 2 days later my triceps hate me.
I am looking forward to this weekends Highland games. I am sure I will look pretty damn foolish at most events, but as long as I have fun, learn, and don’t rip anything off I will be a happy man.

Week 1 of Squats for RPS Meet in December (Dale)
Monday was full gear minus knee wraps with 70 % for triples. I kinda hate triples, but they are good for me. I ended up adding just a bit more weight than 70 %, but everything felt good so why not...
145 X 2 sets of 8, 235 X 2 sets of 4, 325 X 2, 415 X 1 then I put my briefs on for 555 X 1, suit bottoms went on for 645 X 1, then straps up for 725 X 3, 735 X 3, 745 X 3. Most all of the reps felt solid and decently fast. I was able to hold my arch harder in the bottom when I dip so that is an improvement.
Kettlestrap swings (this is our new loadable kettlebell strap that can be loaded up to around 175 #.: 100 lb X 10, 125 X 10, 150 X 10
That was it for the night. Having a nose bleed on the first night of a squat cycle is always a good sign.
Dale here is testing out a new product we are developing. It is a new travel friendly farmers walk handle that can fit in any gym bag. Plus the rolling handles are a great way to really train your grip. This product is pretty close to completion so you should see it for sale very soon. #@dale308 #SpudInc #spudinc #strongman #newproduct #farmerswalk #Strongman
