I’ve been feeling unusually sad at the start of the new year and coupled with the Stranger Things finale, I felt like doing some art to convey the sadness Heathers AU style.

Out of the main Hawkins kids JD knew, he and Eleven were pry the closest, so he’s hit the hardest (besides Mike and Hopper of course).

I wanted to use I Am Damaged in here, so Eleven quotes it, making the situation hit harder for him now that he’s on the receiving end of it. Obviously “our love is God” doesn’t fit Eleven and JD so I just skipped to the “say hi” part. (Personally I subscribe to the El being ok theory because it’s a convenient back door to bring her back for a future project).

I had done some prior samples of a Stranger Things X TMNT team up set in the Heathers AU before, setting it in the cartoon universe since IDW and Dark Horse went in a Mirage direction, so in the final fight, the Turtles are involved once more, doubly so since Dimension X is a thing canonically in Stranger Things. Splinter is also someone who bonded with Eleven and JD when they, Braverman and the other Hawkins kids visited New York two years ago, so naturally he’s feeling the deep emotions too.

JD and Braverman’s past in Hawkins increasingly catches up to them in the present in Sherwood.

The gag is based on a bit from the 60’s movie Billy the Kid vs Dracula.

As for why the Demogorgon is powering through the bullets, the idea I had was it was pumped with special Mutagen from Dimension X, as the TMNT have a stake in things also (based on the IDW crossover with the Mirage Turtles while my idea was with the 80’s cartoon Turtles).

As a reminder, in that idea, the AU Hawkins gang go to New York, meet the TMNT, and get caught up in a situation where Krang and Shredder are forced to work with Vecna.

After the main story in the Heathers AU, the fallout over from Stranger Things in the present takes place in a modified version of the upcoming Stranger Things 5. Braverman and JD are reunited with the Hawkins gang as the Upside Down’s post ST4 influence starts reaching New York and Ohio.

JD and Braverman’s time in Hawkins occurs around ST3, though JD moves to Hawkins then while Braverman has lived in Hawkins since he was a baby and partly involved in ST & ST2’s events. JD and Braverman missed out on ST4, so they’re getting caught up in a crash course, with Veronica, Duke, Kurt, Ram, Sputnik & more getting swept up in the insanity now!

A noncanon comm piece set in the Heathers AU where the Heathers become large and in charge in differing ways due to an accidental mix up in a prank gone awry by JD and Specs.

Veronica sits in with her nerdy friends talkin’ ‘bout Transformers.

A running gag us despite liking the series, Veronica keeps getting the names wrong, constantly calling the factions Autobolts, Deceptitrons, and Quinceycons.

Guardian Prime and Regulus Prime are official G1 characters but Guardian only appeared as a one off Rodimus copy in a flashback. To not have Guardian look like Rodimus directly, I combined some other prototype Transformers that appeared in the cartoon to make him more distinct. He also Transforms into a jet-car here.

Regulus Prime was name dropped in the balls to the walls IDW GI Joe & Transformers but was never given a proper design. I thought of him as a wolf, using a bit of Cyberverse Thunderhowl as a basis. He might be a Triple Changer and turn into a dinosaur also, which is another reason why JD likes him in particular.

Because I feel Hasbro would go back and reinforce the Primes in older cartoons, this AU plays with that. All the Primes Braverman, JD & Specs mention got toys. There’s probably a couple of female Primes too, pre Solus, Orthia Prime and Zerta Prime that Veronica is interested in.

The Duke dances angrily and JD kicks ass were my favs.

Early short stories I did depicted Gowan as an eccentric older black man who doesn’t hide his disdain for his job, with a personality closer to Principal Lewis from American Dad but more subdued. A friend suggested he be based on Andre Braugher, may Andre rest in peace, so I went with that visually.

I wanted to draw the bit with Bud but wasn’t sure how to go about it, since a running gag on my end is we never actually see Bud’s face. The shit eating grin still fits my depiction of him well, though I feel like the scene would take place during Hawkins since Bud and Braverman met back then.

I feel like the freshmen wouldn’t be imaginary, and there’d be a small group led by Duke’s middle brother, lol. Veronica wouldn’t know that though, she still makes it up and is shocked to see him wander by.

It’s still kinda amazing how similar ours align, though mine’s more about Jason and Braverman’s friendship but still. Similar wavelength!

Also fan kids for JRonnica! I’ve mentioned Vincent & Victoria before but this is the first time they’ve been out to paper. I like to think if all three of them met, they’d get along with the naughty Victoria being an enabler and the strait laced Vincent having to play mediator to his sisters.

The MacNamaras and the Chandlers also get along in their own way, poor Charlie though, she’d run away to live with Veronica because she couldn’t survive two Heathers.

Based on a conversation with @horror-lady00 when she showed me the opening to an old late 70’s Japanese show called The Super Girl. Unrelated to the DC character, it had an animated opening sequence featuring a sexy cat lady, but was a live action spy thriller with kinky aspects.

Horror-lady came up with the bit with Sputnik (L) and Specs (R), and I drew it lol.

The bit with Braverman and JD I doodled on the fly, based on one of @how-very-salty’s Sexy JD’s pieces, just with Kurt in the role. Somewhat poking fun at senior photos of students that sometimes resemble something from a modeling magazine.
