Sirius woke curled up in Remus’s arms. It was his favourite place to be and while his body ached from the transformation, being this close to Remus forced it to the back of his mind.
He snuggled further in as if trying to melt into Remus himself.
“Pads, you’re kinda squashing me,” Remus grumbled sleepily.
“Nope, you love it,” He said happily, his voice muffled by Remus’s chest.
“Oh, yeah, that’s right,” Remus laughed and rolled Sirius onto his back before lying down on top of him and squashing him into the floor.
“Hey! Get off!” Sirius struggled fruitlessly. Remus eventually let up as the rest of the surrounding pack members began to stir. It was then that the previous night’s activity came crashing to the front of Sirius’s mind.
“The muggle!” He gasped. Remus turned sharply to look at him.
“What, muggle?”
“The one in the little campsite,” Sirius quickly told Remus what had happened last night after they’d transformed.
“We need to go check what evidence we left behind,” Remus told him before getting to his feet, bringing Sirius with him.
They retraced their steps until they came across the ruined camp. He and Remus performed spell after spell to put it back together and wiped all traces of the pack from the area.
“He might come back,” Remus said as he vanished the last set of footprints. “But hopefully he’ll just think he had a bad dream or that you were a fox instead, seeing as how his food is gone,”
They left the area as though it had simply been abandoned in the middle of the night and returned to their own camp to sleep more and to wait for James and Regulus.
