"I think that should do it," Bucky said as he finished wrapping your small gift.
"Meow."
Bucky sighed as he looked at Alpine. "You try wrapping a gift with this and we'll talk," he said, holding up his vibranium hand.
"Meow."
"It's not the same as handling a M249. A gun and a gift are totally different," he argued, sighing again as his cat went over and nuzzled his forehead. "I just want it to be nice."
Bucky was ecstatic when he drew your name for Secret Santa. That excitement quickly faded to panic because what could he get you to show how much he cared? Everyone jotted down ideas, but he wanted your gift to be extra special.
"And this? What do you think?" he asked, gesturing to the ugly sweater. Everyone had to wear them.
Alpine looked at it for a moment before he pawed at the left sleeve.
"Oh, yeah," Bucky said, taking a few moments to get rid of the sleeve so his full arm could be shown. "Much better. And look, a new toy for you."
Alpine accepted the sleeve, purring in contentment.
"Wish me luck?"
"Meow meow."
"Thanks, Al."
"What is this again?" Bucky asked as you handed him the mug.
"Hot chocolate and Rumchata," you told him. "It's delicious. Trust me."
"I trust you, doll," he promised, taking a sip when you smiled more. He didn't trust many to give him a drink without him watching it be prepared. Years of abuse made him cautious. But he trusted you. "Wow. That's...really good."
"I knew you'd like it," you said proudly.
Bucky could have taken a sip of sludge and it would have been worth it to see you smile. He was so far gone for you. Steve and Sam were certainly tired of him pining over you. Maybe tonight would change it. "And you did a nice job with the decorations."
"Thanks. I didn't want to go overboard. That's Tony's job," you teased.
He knew you put a lot of time and effort into making the party nice for everyone. It paid off. "It's perfect," he swore. "Like you," he thought.
"Thanks, Bucky," you said, gazing at him. It looked like you wanted to say more before Tony stopped you.
"C'mon, kids. Time for Secret Santa," he said, pulling you away.
Bucky pushed down the jealous feeling when he saw Tony's arm wrap around your waist. He was just being friendly. And after everything, he was lucky to be in the man's good graces. Still, he wanted it to be his arm around you. He wondered if you'd prefer his real or metal arm.
"Bucky, will you sit next to me?" you called out as you pulled away from Tony to grab a bowl from the gift table. Everything was there, waiting to be opened.
Clearing his throat, he nodded. "Yeah. Sure," he said.
"You're preening like a peacock," Sam commented as he walked by.
"Shut up," Bucky mumbled before he took a seat and carefully set the mug down. Maybe he was. You could have asked Steve or anyone else to sit by you, but you asked him.
Once everyone sat down, you took a folded piece of paper from the bowl. "Everyone will draw a number from the bowl and we'll open the gifts in order. Each person gets to guess who their Secret Santa is."
"Any prize if we guess on the first try?" Clint asked.
"The gift is your prize," you teased, passing the bowl to Bucky.
He took his number before giving the bowl to Steve. He looked at the presents, anxiously waiting as everyone drew their numbers and took their turns. He just wanted to get to yours.
"A 365-day calendar of dad jokes? And Poo-Pourri? Really?" Tony asked after opening his.
"The store hireling assured me that these were amusing gifts for the masses," Thor said as if no one could hear him.
"I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say Point Break got me this gift."
"How did you guess?" Thor asked, making everyone laugh as they moved on to the next.
"Bucky?" you asked, nodding to his bobbing knee. "Did you need to get some air?" you added quietly enough not to draw attention.
"I'm fine, doll," he said. He could take out an entire compound without breaking a sweat, but you opening a gift in front of everyone made him nervous.
You accepted his answer as you looked at the paper in his hand. "It's your turn."
He got up and glanced at the remaining presents, looking at the tags so he could choose his. His gift was wrapped in beautiful, silver snowflake paper. He almost felt bad ruining the wrapping as he sat back down and opened it. You looked particularly interested when he removed the box lid.
"What is it?" Steve asked curiously.
"Two tickets to the new space exhibit," Bucky answered, thinking of the Stark Expo from all those years ago. The future looked so different back then. "This is great," he added before he saw something else in the box.
"There's more?" Sam asked.
Bucky gingerly picked up the picture frame, looking at it with a smile, before he showed it to the group. It was a photo of him holding Alpine. That was the first time in a long time he felt happy. He didn't even know the photo was taken, but it was a cherished memory. It meant a lot that someone captured it.
"It looks like someone put a lot of thought into your gifts," Natasha said, sipping her beer and giving him a pointed look.
Bucky didn't have to guess who it was. Something like this had to come from you. "Thanks, doll."
"You're welcome," you smiled. "You mentioned how excited you were for the exhibit. And I know Alpine is your partner in crime," you said.
"I thought I was your partner in crime?" Steve asked.
"I thought I was," Sam argued.
"We all know it's Alpine," you said, ending the friendly banter. "...You really like them?"
The look on your face was hopeful and he couldn't help but stare. "I love them. Thank you."
You looked relieved and he wondered why. It didn't matter what gift you gave him. It would have been wonderful because it came from you.
"I guess it's my turn," you said as you stood up.
Bucky held his breath when you picked up the small box and sat back down. He almost said he'd take it back if you hated it. And almost apologized for the poor wrapping as you opened it.
"Oh, my god," you whispered as you took out the pendant from the box.
"I...thought we had a spending cap," Clint said.
"Clint," Nat whispered.
"That clearly cost more than-"
"Clint!" she snapped, smacking his thigh.
You didn't seem to notice as you were too busy admiring your necklace. You told him once you liked his White Wolf nickname. After a lot of searching, he found something unique. A blend of a black and white wolf, the perfect balance of his darkness and light. The moonstone was like the moon overhead.
"Bucky, this is so beautiful. Thank you."
"How did you guess?" he grinned.
"I didn't have to," you smiled back, trying to put the necklace on.
"Allow me," he offered, his fingertips brushing the back of your neck as he clasped it for you. "I, um...I thought it would be nice. Something to keep close to your heart.
"It's more than nice," you assured him, turning to face him. You looked at him like he gave you the keys to paradise. "I love it."
"Okay. I'm tired of this," Tony said suddenly, taking something from his pocket as he got up and went to where you were sitting. "I can't watch you two dance around this anymore."
Bucky looked above his head where Tony was dangling the mistletoe. "You carried that around in your pocket?"
"I have lots of things in my pocket. Just kiss," Tony urged.
"You...want to kiss me?" he asked you.
"More than anything," you swore.
Bucky gazed at you in anticipation as you scooted closer in your chair. All the nerves of the evening disappeared as he leaned forward and cupped your cheek. "Merry Christmas, doll."
"Merry Christmas, Bucky," you whispered before your lips touched. The room erupted in cheers and whistles, but his focus was on you. It felt like a tide he wanted to be swept up in. He'd ask later how long you cared for him. For now, it was enough to know that you did.
"But seriously. I thought we had a spending cap!"

A/N: This is for the holiday challenge hosted by the lovely @sagechanoafterdark & @sweater-daddiesdumbdork I love you both - thank you for hosting this challenge! ❤️I used this prompt:
Song Prompt: Mr Grinch by Thurl Ravenscroft (Song lyrics credited to him!)
“Goddamnit!” Frank hollered as he tread on a pile of legos on his way to the living room. “Mary! What have I told you about leaving your toys all over the place?”
Grinning up at you from her place cuddled beside you on the sofa, Mary yelled back, “That I better stop or you’ll donate them to kids who actually deserved them.”
More muttered words clearly highlighting his displeasure rumbled from Frank, who was still out of sight, and you snickered, grabbing your phone from beside you and opening Spotify.
Both you and Mary had been waiting for the perfect moment to unleash your holiday prank on Frank, and it seemed like that perfect moment was now.
“Ready?” you whispered, your eyes mirroring the mischief in the tiny genius’ own gaze.
“Ready,” she nodded, glancing down at your phone and watching as you pulled up the song you were looking for. Giggling, Mary’s finger hovered over the green play button on the screen as you both waited for Frank to appear.
He did so, still glowering, opening his mouth for another round of complaints, but Mary’s finger dropped to your screen with purpose, the song erupting from your phone at the highest volume possible…
You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch,
You really are a heel,
You're as cuddly as a cactus, you're as charming as an eel, Mr. Grinch,
You're a bad banana with a greasy black peel!
You're a monster, Mr. Grinch,
Your heart's an empty hole,
Your brain is full of spiders, you have garlic in your soul, Mr. Grinch,
I wouldn't touch you with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole!
You both fell into a fit of giggles as Frank huffed in offense, hands dropping to his hips as he eyed the pair of you with a narrowed gaze. “I am not--”
Nudging Mary with your arm, you began singing along to the song to drown him out, Mary joining in between squeals of laughter.
You're a foul one, Mr. Grinch,
You have termites in your smile,
You have all the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile, Mr. Grinch,
Given a choice between the two of you I'd take the seasick crocodile!
Clenching his jaw, Frank rolled his eyes before storming out back toward the garage to work on his latest job.
Still snickering, you paused the song, glancing over at Mary, who was holding up her hand expectedly.
Grinning, you gently slapped your palm to hers, giving her a high five.
“I think we got him good,” you murmured, smoothing a hand over her soft, blonde hair. What do you think?”
“I think we got him really good!” Mary emphasized, her grin growing bigger. “He’s gonna hate that song by the new year.”
“He probably already hates it. He’s Frank,” you said, as if that explained everything.
Mary collapsed in a fit of giggles, holding her stomach as she laughed.
“I’m gonna go check on our Grinch real quick,” you told her, pushing yourself to your feet.
Mary waved you off half-heartedly, still giggling, and you couldn’t help but grin as you slipped on your shoes and made your way to the garage.
You found Frank sitting at his work bench, his back to you as he fiddled with some boat part and tools you couldn’t name if your life depended on it.
Keeping your footfalls quiet, you closed the distance between you before pressing yourself to Frank’s back. You slid your hands against his shoulders, giving them a squeeze.
He stiffened momentarily, a tsking scoff sort of noise sounding from him as he ignored you.
“Aw, are you seriously mad?” you teased, pressing a kiss to his stubbly cheek.
Frank didn’t respond, instead focusing on his work.
“If you are,” you drew out the word against his ear before giving his lobe a gentle nip, grinning as he shuddered. “You’re just proving our point, Mister Grinch.”
“It’s not funny,” Frank huffed.
“It’s a little funny,” you told him, kissing his cheek again before rounding him and seating yourself on his lap sideways. You faux pouted at him as Frank sighed in irritation before setting down his tools. You smiled in victory as his arm slid around your back, his other hand settling on your bare thigh.
“Poor Cranky Franky…” you cooed, teasing the short hair at the nape of his neck with your fingers.
“Better watch it,” he hummed, fingers inching beneath the hem of your shorts. “Or you’ll find yourself on the naughty list before Christmas.”
Leaning in to hug him, you nuzzled your nose against his. “Don’t threaten me with a good time.”
Frank chuckled. “What do you suppose bad girls on the naughty list do to get there?”
“Probably something like this,” you hummed, pressing a soft kiss to his lips.
When you pulled away, Frank’s eyebrows were raised, unimpressed. “Do you know what the word ‘naughty’ means?”
You grinned as you slid from his lap. “I wasn’t finished.” Your hands fell to the worn denim covering Frank’s thighs, and you pushed his legs apart, dropping to your knees between them. Your fingers were quick to unfasten the front of his jeans.
“Oh-kay,” Frank groaned, hips rutting as your hand slid inside his jeans and along the hardening length of him. “You definitely know what ‘naughty’ means.”
Giggling, you pulled him free from his jeans and got to work on solidifying your spot on the naughty list.
It was Christmas Eve night, and Mary was practically bouncing in her seat on the sofa, eyes sparkling as she watched Frank enter the room with a big bowl of popcorn.
Grinning at the two of you and your matching Christmas jammies, he settled in the space between you. “Okay, are we ready to do this Christmas movie thing?”
“Yes!” Mary chirped, scrambling for the remote to the DVD player.
“And then once we’re done, it’s bedtime, right?” Frank asked her.
Mary huffed, rolling her eyes, but nodded nonetheless. “Yeah, I guess. Then you can pretend to be Santa and set out all my presents.”
“Who said you’re getting any presents?” Frank teased, reaching for some popcorn.
Scoffing her offense, Mary dropped her hand to her little hip, her brows furrowing.
She and Frank had a silent stare down, and eventually, Mary’s frown slowly morphed into a smile. She bounded back to her seat beside him.
“Let’s watch the movie, Uncle Frank. I think you’re gonna love it.”
Frank only had a moment to frown at her gleeful tone and glance your way in confusion before Mary hit play and the classic Christmas cartoon lit up the TV screen.
It took Frank a minute to realize what the movie was, but once all the Whos down in Whoville were on screen, he was groaning his irritation. “Of for fuck’s sake!”
“Frank!” you chastised, muffling your laughter behind your hand as Mary gasped out a dramatic:
“Language, Uncle Frank!!!!”
“I’m not watching this,” Frank muttered, moving to sit up, but you both latched onto him, you on his right arm, and Mary on his left. You both began protesting and tugging him back in his seat.
And although he could have easily broken your grip, Frank heaved a sigh of longsuffering before collapsing back against the sofa, crossing his arms over his chest, and glaring at the TV.
You and Mary leaned around him at the same moment, sharing delighted evil grins before settling in for the movie.
Cuddling closer to Frank, you smiled when he begrudgingly lifted his arm and curled it around your shoulder, tugging you against him. His head dropped toward yours, voice a barely audible murmur as he told you, “You’re so gonna get it for this, sweetheart. You won’t be able to sit right all weekend, just wait.”
Feeling your face warm as you squirmed at his threat, you smothered a playful, “Promises, promises,” against his shoulder before Mary was shushing you both.
“Bedtime, Mary, let’s go,” Frank hummed, gently patting her back as she leaned against him, hugging his chest as he sat on the edge of the sofa.
“No,” she whined, shaking her head. “I don’t want Christmas to be over.”
His lips curled as he glanced up at you, watching with a warm fondness in his gaze as you straightened up the living room, tucking Mary’s new presents beneath the tree so they were out of the way until she moved them to her room.
“Did you have a nice Christmas?” he asked Mary, rubbing a hand up her back.
She nodded against his shoulder, yawning a sleepy, “Yeah.”
“What was your favorite present?”
“The Grinch stuffed animal Y/N got me,” she giggled as Frank sputtered in offense. “What was your favorite gift?”
“Definitely not your Grinch stuffed animal,” he muttered, making both of you laugh. He rolled his eyes at you, smiling as he nudged Mary to her feet. “Come on, kiddo. You’re gonna have the best sleep of your life after today’s excitement.”
Mary started whining wordlessly but didn’t resist as Frank scooped her up in his arms and moved toward the hall.
“Wait,” you told him, coming up close and pressing a kiss to Mary’s cheek. “Merry Christmas, sweet girl. I hope you had a good day.”
Mary blinked at you sleepily, a small smile twisting her lips. “I had a really good day. G’night.”
“Night.” You watched as Frank disappeared down the hall before shutting off all the lights and making your way to the bedroom you and Frank shared.
You knew he’d probably stay with Mary till she passed out, so you did your nighttime routine, changed into an old, worn, and ridiculously soft t-shirt of Frank’s, and collapsed into bed on your stomach, hugging your pillow, and resting your eyes for a few minutes.
You must have dozed off, because next thing you knew, the bed was dipping beside you, and a pleasant heat warmed your back.
Frank kissed your cheek, hovering over you as he kissed and nuzzled his way along your shoulder and down your back, hands pushing your shirt up until bare skin was revealed.
“I’m so sleepy,” you slurred, humming as Frank’s lips mouthed a trail up your spine.
“Come on, I wanna show you my thirty-nine-and-a-half-foot pole,” he whispered against your ear.
You giggled, eyes fluttering open as you glanced at him over your shoulder, spying his grin. “Can’t you show me tomorrow morning?”
He pouted at you, stretching out beside you before tugging you back against him, the little spoon to his big spoon as he pulled the blankets up around you both and slid his leg between yours.
“But it’s Christmas, baby,” he murmured, hand smoothing over your hip and rucking up your shirt as he did so. “And my heart isn’t the only thing that grew three sizes today.”
Your snort of laughter turned into a quiet “oh” as Frank ground his erection against your ass the same moment his fingers dipped between your legs and pressed at the front of your panties. “Frank.”
“Least keep me warm,” he purred against your ear, kissing and nipping against your skin until you were squirming and shifting restlessly against him and shoving down your panties.
“Fine.”
“Good girl,” Frank squeezed your hip, hand falling to play between your thighs, until you were a moaning, whimpering mess and he was lining himself up and slowly sliding home. “Fuck, you always feel so good, sweetheart.”
“Frank,” his name was a breathy sigh on your lips, your belly tightening as pleasure pooled deep in your core. You couldn’t help but rock against him, wanting to feel him deeper, craving the friction only he could give you.
But then his hand was on your hip, stilling you. You could feel him smile against your shoulder when you made a noise of distress.
“Thought you were sleepy, baby?”
“Thought you wanted to fuck me?” you grumped.
Frank laughed quietly. “Watch it, Missus Grinch.”
The promise of sleep falling away from you fast, you twisted against Frank, hand sliding behind his head and pulling him into a kiss as you clenched around him hard.
Frank moaned, grunting out an obscenity as you pulled away with a smirk.
“Come on, Cranky Franky,” you whispered, teasing his parted lips as he glared at you with lust-blown eyes. “All I want for Christmas is you...and your cum filling me up.”
With a quiet, guttural growl, Frank pulled out of you, flipping you onto your stomach, smirking as you yelped. His hands were hot brands on your hips as he tugged you onto your knees, settling behind you.
“Ass up then, baby,” he drawled, big hands smoothing over said curve as he leaned over you. “So I can make sure you have a very merry Christmas.”
You both moaned as Frank drove into you hard, until he was as deep as your trembling body would allow, rocking against your ass with a dirty grind.
“Gonna ruin this sweet pussy,” Frank panted against your shoulder, planting a kiss to your skin before leaning back behind you and settling his hands on your hips. “Make you scream my name.”
He retreated before driving into you hard, making you gasp his name sharply as your fingers curled against the messy sheets.
“Then I’m gonna fill you up with my cream, sweetheart,” Frank grunted, the pounding of his hips against yours relentless as your soft whimpers and quiet moans filled the room.
“And show you just what kind of gift naughty girls get for Christmas.”
As Frank made good on his word, working your body until you were mindlessly drooling into the sheets, your pleasure cresting higher and higher, you fleetingly thought that being on the naughty list was totally fucking worth it.
Lol I don’t even know what’s happening but my panties are ruined and I’m feeling REALLY GOOD. 👍🏻

Summary- 3.6k Alpha Steve Rogers x Little One!Reader. Its your first Christmas with Steve. Preparing the tree you picked, Steve falls in love with the holiday once more.
Warnings- soft smut and feels shared between you two.
A/N- I know we are in mid January, but this fic was started for the Holiday Challenge Sage and I had going. And no entry is to late, so here’s some Christmas feels for those that might be going through with drawls. Much Love always. Happy Reading. 🐺❄️
Your boots crunched through the snow as you followed after Steve, the two of you had walked rows of trees trying to find one for the cabin. It was the first Christmas you have been able to actually celebrate and once Steve put two and two together, he was sure to go all out in a way he hadn't done himself in years.
So today was tree picking day, and it had to be a wild fresh cut tree. Not one from the lot in town, that had been perfectly manicured through its life to be the perfect shape. Of course Steve offered that for you, but you were insistent. No it had to be a tree from home, just as wild and imperfect as you two were. You would know when you saw it.
“What about this one Y/N?” Steve came to a stop, and you tilted your head, looking up at it. It looked full, maybe a bit bigger than the living room it was going into but Steve could easily trim it down to size. You were about to say yes when a head popped out of the top branches, chattering in a scolding manner at the two of you that had you shaking your head.
“It's the chipmunks home.” You said firmly and Steve snorted a bit, folding his arms over his chest.
“We’re saying no to the perfect tree cause of that?”
“Yup. Let's keep looking.” You started in which the Little Wolf was rolling laughing inside of you at the expression of disbelief you left on the Alphas face.
He glanced up at the tippy top of the branches where the chipmunk stared him down. “You're lucky it's me and not the Wolf, he make a snack out of you.”
The chipmunk seemed thoroughly unimpressed and darted back down into the branches. Turning to follow your trail, Steve really couldn't be that upset you bypassed it. Truth be told, he was thoroughly enjoying himself this holiday.
You had managed to dig out some of the old decorations he had stored away, careful with them in case any were fragile. You two had spent one evening going through them, you asking questions about them, where they came from, was there a story behind them. Some made it out into the garbage, memories Steve didn't want to carry anymore. You didn't push for a reason why. Just accepting that they no longer had a place at home.
Then you two went about decorating the front of the house. You shimmied up the ladder to sit on the roof and help strand the lights along the edge while he used the ladder. Streaming lights that looked like blue and white icicles were stretched along the porch and once finished you two sat on the roof for a few moments while it got dark, admiring what others had done from the higher vantage. “Think Santa come find us Alpha?” You teased him while your head laid on his shoulder.
“Were lit right up Little One, if he can’t then he's not doing his job.” Steve teased back before tilting his head back to go from the Christmas lights to the stars starting to dart into sight above them.
“And what do you want for Christmas Steve?” You asked, in which he tightened his arm around your shoulders and dropped his mouth to your temple, pressing his lips there.
“I already have what I want.” His Wolf could do nothing but agree. You chuckled softly and nudged at him.
“Come on, I really want to know Alpha.”
The night he came back late from the lumberyard, you were baking cookies. And not just any cookies, you had managed to find his mothers gingerbread cookie recipe in one of the cupboards and was busy decorating them with so much concentration you hadn't noticed him come inside. The tip of your tongue bitten between your teeth, brows furrowed as you filled in the top of the cookie with icing. He managed to sneak up behind you, arms circling you as you yelped and jumped a bit, Steve laughing deep from his chest as he pressed a kiss to your mark. “Sorry, what are you doing that requires so much concentration?”
You tried using your fingers to smooth out the icing on Frosty, but it just wasn’t happening. “Frosty is just gonna have three eyes instead of two I guess. Making cookies, but I don't know. Do you deserve them?” you teased him with a wiggle of your brows at your mate.
Steve arched a brow and let his hands fall to the curve of your ass, giving a firm squeeze. “Probably not, but you will give me a taste anyways.”
You try hiding your grin, but it's hard. You glance at the messed up cookie in your hand and squint at it. “This looks… exactly like you.” Then you sunk your teeth into the moist gingerbread, proceeding to bite off his head, which made Steve tilt his head back and howl with laughter.
“Should I take that as a promise or a threat Little One?”
“We will see later tonight, now let me finish these cookies!” You pushed him away gently while stuffing the rest of the gingerbread man in his mouth.
All of them just adding up to fill his life in the most unlikely of ways. All these moments could be felt in your bond. He was happy, because you were happy. It was like a soothing balm in his soul. The heaviness he had always experienced was simply gone when he was with you, connected with you. The Wolf was happily settled with your Little Wolf every chance he could. Both of them traveling the expanses of their human sides.
You finally paused, brushing your hands along a branch and tugging at it gently. It was slightly crooked, some gaps in the branches where the tree hasn't grown perfectly. You circled it once while Steve waited for your answer and when you stopped back in the front, you turned, beaming at him.
“It's perfect.”
Later that night You were carefully hanging ornaments, Steve had done the lights just so and was helping you fill out the gaps with twinkling lights, shiny balls you had picked up shopping with Sara and strands of tinsel to make it that much more festive. You step back, hands to hips looking at the tree while Steve closes the last box on the coffee table and moves up behind you. Tucking you under his chin and looking at the tree as well while wrapping you in his arms. “Our first Christmas tree is beautiful Little One.” He said softly, swaying slightly to the sounds of the radio playing Christmas tunes from the kitchen.
He could feel you lean back into his chest, your hands sliding along his arms wrapped around you till you were mimicking hugging yourself as well. The room had such a relaxing ambiance in the glow of the Christmas tree with its twinkling decorations lighting up the room in a soft glow. It even spilled out onto the deck, making the slow glisten just a bit. “It really is Alpha.” You tilt your head enough to nuzzle under his jaw.
The Little Wolf pushed past the barrier to meet with the Alpha, tangling around him affectionately to settle in with him for the night. Curled around one another as they both laid down, nibbling and nuzzling one another quietly.
Steve inhaled along your neck, letting himself drown in your warm scent that was tinged with that fresh snow scent. Clean and hinting on a cold sensation. The cider you had sipped from earlier with a tinge of fireball whiskey in it still lingered. Which Steve wanted more of it, more of tasting it heatedly on your lips.
You could feel Steve's fingers twist into your sweater you were wearing, the slight nips along the curve of your neck while he softly rumbled from his chest. “I got you something.” He pressed the words against your shoulder and then loosened to pull away. You spun at the loss of contact which Steve held up a finger. “Wait, right here Little One.”
You stalled reaching for him, biting your lip. “You have something for me?” You asked softly in a bit of surprise and Steve nodded, a grin forming.
“Be right back.” He stepped back and went down the hallway out of sight. Once he was gone, you breathed out and turned back to the tree, your head tilting as you could feel the moment filling you. It was something you had never thought you would get to experience, Christmas wasn’t celebrated at your old Pack. It was just another long winter day trying to survive.
Now it was filled with everything Steve could think of to do. You were dragged from your thoughts when you heard Steve come back in with a gentle request. Doing his best not to command you as he knew you hated choices taken away from you.
“Can you close your eyes Little One?” He went back to his spot, pressing behind you and rubbing your hip with one hand.
“Okay Steve, they are closed.” You assured him, and waited patiently, a held breath of anticipation burning in your lungs till you could feel him whisper in your ear while tracing the side of your face with the tip of his nose.
“Okay, open them up my Little Wolf.”
Which you did and dangling from his fingers was a frosted glass snowflake, dangling back and forth in which you reached for it, letting the delicate piece sit in your palm. “Steve… I love it.” You trace the patterns so gently that you were barely touching them, and stepped forward looking around before you went to your tiptoes, higher on the tree and slipped the ribbon around a branch, the blue light placed behind it playing the snowflake in a way that made you think of the winter winds sweeping over the lake outside.
Falling back into Steve’s hold, the two of you admired the way your tree had come together. Steve dropped to whisper in your ear soon enough. “Know what I want to see in the future? A couple youngin’s decorating the tree all in one spot, so we have to fix it later when they are asleep.”
You bit your lip while letting that image cross your mind. “What do you say we work on making that happen Alpha?” You twisted and pushed on his shirt, pushing him back to the couch. He didn't put up any kind of fight, letting you push him down to a sit on the middle cushion with a rather turned on look at you.
You move to stand between his legs, his hands slip up along the back of your thighs and cusp under your ass cheeks through your sleep shorts while your hand slide along the sides of his jaw, his beard making your palms tingle while he pulls you into his lap, straddling him with light nips to his lips. “While we are discussing making that happen. What's a good number.” He teased while sliding his hands under your sweatshirt, his favorite one that had their logging business logo on the front. You moaned while pulling away, and he was quick to get it off you and tossed to the side.
The glow of the tree lights illuminated you for him, his fingers dipping along the small of your back while tugging you in close to nip the tops of your breasts while his fingers found your bra clasp and drew it off of you as efficiently as the sweatshirt.
You let your head tilt back to enjoy the sensation of Steve's mouth fondling your chest. Holding onto the back of his neck while he teased you with his mouth, swirling a pebbled nipple with his tongue, he gave a pull to draw it into his mouth, making you growl softly in pleasure and your mind fog over while trying to think of his question. “I know you Alpha.” He gave another rolling twist with his tongue that caused another shudder to roll through you. “You are gonna want a whole mess of them aren't you?”
Steve continued on, soft bites turning into a lavished lick between your cleavage till he tilted towards your other one, his hand massaging with squeezes, his palm was so warm against you. “Only if you want that as well Little One.” He pulled away with a slow pull, letting himself lean back against the couch. His hands covered your breasts, fondling them while you started to rock your hips against him, clearly rubbing your aching cunt against his hard on straining the front of his sweatpants now. His nostrils flared, drawing in the scent of your arousal. Thick swallows bobbed his adam’s apple as he wanted to take a taste of you, but not as much as he wanted his cock in you. “What do you want?”
Your gaze dropped to his, and for a moment you were at a loss as your fingers gripped his shoulders. It was hard to really consider it at the moment as all you could think about was his hard on pressing against you and how wet you already were for him. How could he expect you to think at a time like this, it was clearly unfair and you bit on your bottom lip while sliding your hands against his chest, digging in slightly against his pecs to leverage yourself against him. “Umm, a few? Lets try for one and see how that goes?” You whimpered out while he took hold of your hips and started moving you in a way that really satisfied you, the right amount of pressure driving you wild. Already you were drenching through your shorts to the front of his pants, not to mention your inner thighs, your folds dripping with slick for him.
“I am good with a few.” Steve nipped at your collarbone when he leaned forward, lavishing his tongue in a trail to leave his scent soaking into your skin, further marking you as his. There was nothing more that he craved than filling you with his pups, seeing your belly swell while his babies were safely tucked inside until they were ready to join the world. His fingers dug in possessively and he ached even harder at the thought of filling you with his seed. You smelled so good and were so soft in his arms. He could spend a lifetime just loving you like this, lost in the moment with the Christmas lights glowing softly behind you, illuminating you while you arched back getting lost as his hands rocked your body back and forth against his thigh and aching erection.
Your hands slide down his chest and abs, your senses all heightened with the Little Wolf right at the surface while loving Steve. You tug gently at his sweatpants band and reach in to circle around his throbbing member, easing it out. Your Alpha hissed at the feeling of your hands gliding up and down his shaft, velvet smooth and thick in your palms. You knew he was feeling good at the way his head dropped back against the couch and his hands stilled from moving you. Deep groans would roll from him when you cupped his balls, tugging slightly and rolling them in your fingers. “I want that Steve, to carry your pups.” You confess, giving one last stroke to his cock before pulling away to stand, and your hips shimmy to pull down your sleep shorts and discard them. His own hand replaced where yours left off, tightening once in a while to hold himself in check while his eyes roamed up and down your body, perfection in his eyes.
“Then let me fill you up Little One.” He growled out while reaching for your naked body, easing you back to straddle his lap, kneeling above him while he slid his cock through your heated swollen folds and when you felt his swollen tip press against your entrance, you sunk onto him slowly with a jaw dropping sharp inhale at stretching around your mate.
Steve fought the urge to slide himself fully into your heat, your velvet welcoming walls fluttering tightly around him as he opened you. Made for him, the way you took him and he swore it took the very air from him to see your face screw up a moment and go slack with relief once you were settled on him. He heard you whimper as you rolled your hips. Steve knew you were feeling him completely and clenching around him in need. His hands roved up and down your back while you started to move yourself, arching up and sinking back down, Steve matched your slow pace with an upwards roll of his hips, matching your effort. This was a slow lovemaking, no rush to finish but just enjoy one another intimately.
Your hands roamed up and down Steve's chest and slid around to clasp your hands around his neck, leaning into Steve to catch his lips. Moaning against his mouth while his tongue filled your mouth, lapping back at him. Your fingers curled into his hair at the back of his head, arching into his chest to rub yourself against him while he sucked on your tongue, twisting your head to break from him panting while he flushed kisses down your neck. His teeth sinking into the curved hollow between your neck and shoulder as he grasped your hips and pulled you fully onto him.
Your forehead pressed against his, gasping as Steve took over. Dragging his cock through your fluttering channel, making the knot in your stomach tighten heatedly. Your eyes lifted towards his, which were lust blown and studying you so intently watching how you were coming undone. You whined out with his next roll, feeling his cock hit you in all the right places. “You know how much I love you Steve” You panted out, twisting your face to rub against the side of his face whimpering. His hand slid up your back and grasped the back of your neck to lift your head back up to look at him.
“I can feel it Little One in the way you're loving me right now.” He nipped at your lips with a deep growl, his fingers massaging the back of your neck while holding you in place, listening to those tiny growls and whimpers you were giving him in the soft glow of Christmas lights. “So beautiful right now Little One.” He whispered to you while grinding you against his groin. “Loving your alpha so sweetly, so trusting. I can't wait for the day you become my pups mother.” Losing his hand on his hip, he dipped between your thighs and slid fingers around where you two were joined, gathering arousal to drench your clit while rubbing in circles.
“Oh god Alpha.” Your voice pitched with the tingles racing along your body and Steve had you where he wanted you.
“I love you too my Omega… come with me.” He demanded, his own rush tightening his chest and heated through his body with tense muscles. You started breaking apart in the way he loved seeing you. It was the most raw form of yourself, no words could describe the way you cried his name sounded to him, or the roaring growl he gave as he painted you full of him, his knot swelling to lock you together. Steve pulled you into his chest while you shook out your orgasm, blissed out feeling yourself so full with him and you curled up into his chest while he rubbed deeply at your back and over your hips, his face buried in against your neck while inhaling deeply. Warm honeysuckle mixed with your satisfaction wafted through him, as much as he had marked you, you had marked him as well.
You two stayed like that for several moments, in the quiet of the night in just the glow of the tree lights. You were the first to stir, brushing a hand through his hair that made Steve hum against your neck before shifting back to lean against the couch and you eased up a bit to look at him. “You okay Little One?” He asked softly and you gave a nod, sighing with satisfaction still feeling his knot stretching you. It would be a while before you could move off his lap his time. Not that you minded, you were quite comfortable staying right there with him.
“Always with you Alpha.” you settled back into him, and he loosely circled his arms around you to rub your still shivering back. Remnants of your passion, but he still reached for an afghan draped over back of the couch and spread it over the two of you. He nuzzled the side of your head, brushing your hair back off your neck to flush possessive kisses against your mark. “Best Christmas I've had in a long time, Little One. You've been my greatest gift.”
You hid your smile for a moment, letting his words sink in. Your Little Wolf crooned in pleasure while swirling into the Alpha's embrace, the two wolves sharing love bites against the muzzles and rubbing against one another in a mates dance.
The bond between you two radiated each other's bliss, forming a stronger connection with each passing day. The evening slipped well into the night before you two pulled away from each other. Steve turning on the radio in the kitchen to turn up the soft Christmas music tunes while you tugged your sweater back on.
Once he approached you again, you thought he was gonna scoop you up to go to bed, but he weaved his fingers with yours and swayed slowly in front of your first shared Christmas tree, sharing whispered ‘I love you’s’ and nips of playful kisses until you led him to the bedroom for the night. You insisted on leaving the tree illuminated through the night.
Any wolves passing on the frozen lake could see the glow playing on the snow falling heavily, muffling any noises and encasing there part of the world in silence.

There’s a muffled humming coming from somewhere under a pile of paperwork and takeout containers on your floor. The sound is constant, piercing, and irritating. Eyes still closed, head pounding from an evening of too much wine and schmoozing, you reached down towards the sounds and ran your hands over the stack, following the vibrations of your phone. Once found, you yanked it away from it charging cord and used every ounce of energy you had, pulling the phone close to your face. Opening one eye a sliver to hide from the light, you read from the bright screen.
Hey, listen, I know we've had our differences the last few years but I think it's time we put all of it behind us. I saw Rosie the other day and asked her how you were doing but she kept it pretty vague. I hope to hear from you soon, even if it's only a text to say you’re doing okay.
Reading over the message a second time, in utter shock that he had the audacity to message you and pissed that he even dare ask your friend about how you were; you decided to turn off your phone and toss it into a pile of clothing on the floor.
What. A. Dick.
Rolling back over into your cozy blanket cocoon, falling back asleep, temporarily pushing away any thoughts of the man from your past.
The message was all but forgotten until later that day when a familiar song came on the radio and you couldn’t help but think about how you had both downed several beers at a pub and sang it at the top of your lungs. Maybe it had been a dream earlier and the text never happened. Pulling your phone from your back pocket, hoping it was all your imagination, you indeed saw that there was a text.
The ever-so-hard to escape blue eyed man, was trying to weasel his way back into your life and you weren't having any of it. Dropping the phone into the bag sitting at your feet, getting up from the desk, shaking out a bit to ease the tension that one tiny text had accumulated.
"Don't think about him. Don't think about him. Don't think about him," you repeated the words over and over, hoping to push all thoughts aside. In stocking feet, walking around the small hole you called your office and continued to shake it out. The calm didn’t last as long as you hoped, anger slowly creeping up and out.
"Stupid frikkin guy!! UGH!" The sound of your disgruntled cry, shook you a bit, the frustration clearly coming out louder than expected. "All right, settle yourself down, you can't let him have this sort of pull over you," hoping the self-talk would work, you ran your hand through your hair and walked back to the desk. "Delete it, pretend that you never looked at it and it will go away."
There was no way the struggle going on inside your head would even fathom deleting the text. Truth be told, as much as you cursed and hated the thought of him trying to slide back into your life, there wasn’t a month that went by without a thought of him crossing your mind. A song playing, a Romcom from the 90s, the pizza you both loved so much. Why couldn’t you escape him?
You shot off a quick text to Rosie, curiosity was killing you now, itching inside you, desperate to find out how the hell you had come up in conversation.
Y/N -Word on the street is that you ran into a clown I once knew; I’m curious what was said.”
Rosie: Oh no, he didn’t.
Y/N: He did and it was pathetic
Rosie: It was a super quick interaction. Both of us waiting for a coffee and being friendly. He asked about you almost right off the bat though. It almost rendered me speechless after what happened.
Y/N - So, that’s it? What did you say? Did you tell him how fantastic my life is going and that I probably wouldn’t even remember him?
Rosie: you and I both know, that that’s a load of shit. I’ve had wine nights with you, that man-child has never left that brain of yours.
Y/N Shut up.
Rosie: Really though, it was super quick. I said you were doing charity work and were still in the city, happy and healthy.
Y/N- good to know. I’ll just sit here and pretend his message never happened then. Carry on as usual.
Rosie: see you later this week?
Y/N Definitely, bye babe.
Placing your phone down on your desk, you continued opening your mail: thank you cards for volunteering, appreciation notes from parents and kids, and requests for you to help out at other groups around town. The next month would be hectic, with collecting the many donations from around the city. You had to finish training several new volunteers that would assist with wrapping, delivering, and presenting gifts to the charities and individual families that you helped support during the Winter months.
It became a mechanical process, opening envelope after envelope, that you weren’t paying attention to the return addresses. It wasn’t until you read the first few lines that the letterhead caught your eye and did it burn.
Blue-eyed monster strikes again via his mother.
You knew it wasn’t the case though, his mom, was offering a bursary to some of the kids you helped out and she was reaching out to you and other groups in the city to help.
It didn’t take much to pull your mind from work once you had read the Evans name on the letter. Bits and pieces shifted in your mind; you couldn’t fight it any more today. The letter slipped to the floor and you sat back against your desk, the memories that you had been pushing away, were flooding back.
It all started innocently about three years ago, bumping into one another around town, having several acquaintances that knew each other, and a tendency to make the other smile when the lamest dad jokes were thrown around. His face was incredibly animated and you loved the way his eyebrows would jump up while he spoke, there was mischief behind them that you wanted to discover. Even a quick peek, would ease the curiosity.
You recognized that laugh from across the room of the gallery – full of heart and genuine. Turning around, you spotted Chris mingling with other attendees of the charity event. You were here to help raise money for low-income families in the community that could not afford music lessons or music therapy for their children. The profits from the art sold this evening, would help buy instruments for the school that was set to open the following month. You knew Chris had donated and you had volunteered to help teach the parents with baby's groups every second weekend. It was the least you could do, you had a bit of extra time and needed to give back to the community that helped you and your family out during your childhood.
“How did I know you would be here?”
You must have zoned out thinking about that boisterous laugh that you didn’t see Chris walking over to you. You smiled as he leaned in wrapping one arm around you, a beer being held in his other hand. His smell was intoxicating – a mixture of orange and the woodiness of sandalwood. Would it be wrong if you pulled him closer to take a quick whiff before he pulled away?
He took his time moving back from you, winking as his arm shifted back to his side and lifting the beer to his mouth with the other, take a long sip.
“So, you out here to buy some art?” he asked, taking another drink.
“No, not buying tonight. One of the pieces is mine, I donated it to help out.”
“You have something up for sale here?” He questioned, taking a quick spin around to quickly look at all the art hanging around the gallery. “Which one is yours?”
“Oh, I am NOT telling you that. I think I’ll leave it up to you to figure out which one is mine. You can play the role of Sherlock Holmes.”
“Now, that’s just cruel.”
“Cruel? Nah. Mysterious? Yes. Are you up for a little game of 5 questions to help you out? If you can guess which one is mine, then I guess you have bragging rights because I haven’t discussed my art with anyone here. If you don’t figure it out, then I suppose it will be a mystery forever.”
“Oh, I KNOW I’ll be able to figure this out!” Chris says loudly, clapping his hands together and popping each shoulder up and down. “I’m always up for a challenge.”
“Here’s the deal, you ask me whatever you need to to figure out which one is mine. Obviously, you can’t ask which one is mine as one of your questions. Ready?”
“Ready!” Chris said enthusiastically. He took your hand and brought you to the front of the room to observe the first of the paintings. “Let’s take a quick gander and then I’ll start. How does that sound to you?”
“Whatever you need to do, Evans.”
Chris pulled you from canvas to canvas, still holding your hand as he inspected each piece. “First question. “Did you only use paint for the one you donated?”
“NOPE, next question, Evans!”
“Okay, okay, I got this,” he bounced around on the spot and turned his head to quickly glance over the works close to him. “Shit, I guess I should have asked if what you donated was a painting, right?”
You walk a circle around Chris “Is that your question?” you ask, eyebrow raised.
His blue eyes flick quickly to yours before he says, “Ya, actually...ya. That’s what I want to know. Did you submit a painting?”
“Yes, one of my paintings is hanging somewhere in one of these giant rooms.”
“You really don’t think that I’m capable of figuring this out, do you? Ye of little Faith,” he smirked and pulled you to the back of the dark room. “Any reason why it’s so dark back here?”
“Maybe that’s what the artist wanted?”
“Here’s question three then,” he said as he pulled you closer to him, your eyes looking into his as he asked. “Is you painting in the dark room?”
“Is that really what you want to ask me?”
Chuckling, you take hold of his hand and lead him to another section of the gallery. “I don’t want you to miss any pieces, so take a look around here before you ask number three.” He squeezed your hand and looked up, the ceiling adorned with a beautiful piece; birds in flight but as they reached the furthest wall, the began to decay, until only single feathers remained.
“Here’s number three, ready?” He looked to his left where you were nodding your head back. “Did you mainly use your hands for this piece? I mean, instead of brushes or other tools.”
You were silent for a moment before answering, did you want to tell him how much of yourself you had put into this piece? That what the brushes couldn’t do, you did with your hands and arms? “I did. This one needed more than brushes.”
Chris smiled at you, “feel like telling me what else you used?”
“Not a chance,” you said, grabbing a glass of white wine from the tray passing by. “You want a glass?”
Chris held up his bottle, its content revealing that it was still half full. “I think I have a pretty good idea which one is yours, so these last two questions are going to be good.” With two large gulps, he finished up the rest of his beer. “So, what happens when I guess, do I get some sort of prize? Maybe you could paint me or something?”
“If you mean, could I dump a bucket of paint over your cocky head, then, sure!”
Chris burst out laughing, pulling you into him for a squeeze. “I love how you make me laugh and I bet you would actually do that to me. But really, if I do guess, what happens?”
You kept your body close to his, his arm still holding you close as you responded, “what do you think would be suitable prize, Chris? Do you want me to paint something, make you a prince? Maybe something of you and Dodger? Or maybe I could paint your like one of my French girls.”
“I would love one of your pieces, but if I win this, I’d like to take you out. Is that okay with you?”
Your grip tightened around the wine glass, trying not to let it slip to the floor. It was a shock, to hear that this man, one that you had flirted with for months, was asking if you wanted to go out with him.
“Y/N?”
“Sorry, I... I didn’t expect you to ask me that,” you answered, fidgeting with your hands out of awkwardness.
“It’s ok, you can say no! It’s all right to tell me no.”
“No. No. I’d love that. If you can guess which one is mine, I will gladly go out with you. Dinner, drinks, walk – whatever you like.”
Chris placed his empty beer on the table closest to you. “Ready for my last two questions?”
“As ready as one can be.”
“Is your piece hung on the wall as a landscape?”
“Look at you Evans, you got another one.”
Chris rubbed his hands together, his smile wide and full, clearly showing that he was on a winning streak. “Here’s number four and then I’ll go right to the painting I think, the painting I know it is. Chris walked back and forth in front of you before turning to face you with his last question. You had grabbed another glass of wine and took a sip, waiting for his winning question. “Does your piece use more than black and white? – so many of these photos, sculptures, paintings are very monotone.”
“You’re good Evans and yes, I filled my picture with the rainbow. So, take my hand and show me what the answer to this mystery is.”
His warm hand took your free one and he walked you to one of the side rooms – this room was full of colourful pieces. You could feel the heat flushing across your cheeks and a thin layer of sweat formed at your hairline. Chris stopped and turned towards the back wall and pointed to one of the paintings. “I’m pretty sure this one is yours,” he said with a half-smile. “Am I right?”
You had wished, during those few minutes he had suggested that he take you out, that he would guess which one is yours. But what were the chances with over 40 pieces around you? You tried to keep your body from slouching before you softly answered “No. That’s not mine.”
The happiness in his eyes left quickly once you responded.
“Are you going to tell me which one is yours though?” He asked you eagerly.
“No, I think I’m going to keep that secret to myself. Thanks for the fun, Evans, I should get home. Another day of charity work for me tomorrow.”
“Wait, Y/N, I’d still like to take you out though, will you let me do that, please?”
“I guess we’ll have to see what the future brings,” you replied, giving him a little wink and a squeeze to his hand, you took one last sip of your wine before heading to the coat check.
Chris watched you as you wrapped a scarf around your neck and slipped your arms into the long, wool coat. Walking back over to him and wrapping your arms around him, it was a quick hug and he barely had an arm around you before you were stepping back. With a smile on your face, you turned and stepped out into the night. Chris watched as you turned right and glanced his way, your hand lifting up and into a quick wave. He couldn’t stop smiling and knew he had to see you again.
It didn’t take long for that to happen. You couldn’t get him out of your thoughts and dreams after the encounter at the gallery. He really was something; funny, compassionate, a hard worker, and you couldn’t deny that he was incredibly good looking.
After an event in town and a few drinks later, it was easy as pie, asking him over for dinner. He had initially thought you were pulling his leg.
Chris couldn’t stop laughing. "Oh ya, sure you want me to come over for dinner," laughing at your request and taking a sip of his IPA.
The pink that had flushed across your cheeks when you had shyly asked him was disappearing like an ice cube in hot soup. He picked up on the change immediately and apologized profusely. "I didn't think you were serious! You are serious, right?”
"Why wouldn't I be? It's just dinner," you shrugged. “I don’t see why you would have such a dramatic response to a simple question.” There was an awkwardness now and maybe you shouldn’t have asked him to come over. “Sorry, I thought since we kind of hand a friendship blooming and I tend to invite friends over...”
He took hold of your arm and pulled you into his chest, a big smile across his face. “I'll come by; don’t you worry. Which day this week works for you? I'll be out of state after this week for a bit, so hopefully something the next few days will work for you,” he said, squeezing you a bit before he released his hold on you.
Trying not to be awkward, you responded "This week will definitely work, tomorrow or the next day are open for me."
"Let’s go for tomorrow, okay? Would you like me to bring anything?” Chris smiled
“Be sure to bring the dog, he's the one I'm really inviting.”
"Well, fat chance of me coming by now, I see where your allegiances lie, " he said half closing his eyes and glaring at you in a teasing manner.
"Ok then, just drop the dog off, I'm sure he'll enjoy the feast."
Chris couldn't help laugh at the way you were carrying on with this charade. The half-smile that was currently on your face was one full of mischief and it was something that he had come to enjoy the last few times he had run into you around town. He could see a sparkle in your eyes, something that he didn’t notice before today and it was something, that he could get used to.
“A thought crossed my mind... what exactly would have happened if I had guessed right?”
“Since that didn’t happen, I guess you’ll never know,” you said with a shrug and nudged him with your shoulder.
“You sure like to tease me.”
“What exactly am I teasing you over?”
“The opportunity to be in your presence again,” he replied, a slight blush crossing his cheeks.
Finishing up your drink, you placed the glass back on the cardboard coaster and turned to face him.
**
“What the hell is THIS?” he asked grabbing at the green monster type thing that was hanging from a lamp in your living room
"That, is a flying frog - one of those weird ass dad gifts - he's always finding these peculiar creatures for me and I can't seem to part with them.
"It's sure ugly"
"You're ugly!” You shouted back at him and burst into the most beautiful smile he had seen cross your face.
"What are you, 12?
"Sometimes,” you replied.
Chris couldn’t help but laugh at you and pull you into a quick side hug. "You're a funny one" he feels you squeeze him back softly, a smile crossing his face at the quick interaction.
"I better go take a peek in the oven and make sure everything is baking the way it should. Make yourself cozy, I'll be right back." You looked back to him, pointing at the couches before turning and walking down the hallway to the kitchen. Turning you head back, forgetting to offer him a drink but his long strides had brought him right behind you quickly, almost colliding with your body. He tripped up a bit and moved his hand to your hip to catch himself.
"I want to see what you're up to in here, see what the chef is cooking up.” Chris resting his chin on your shoulder to peek at what you were stirring on the stove.
“You couldn’t sit still and wait for me to come back, did you miss me that much,” you teased.
“I couldn’t stand to be apart from you for a second longer.”
“That is the cheesiest lines, Evans. Does shit like that work for you?”
“What matters is, if it’s working on you. So, is it?”
You hummed, refusing to answer the question and carried on taking care of the food in the oven. Satisfied with how everything looked, you turned the timer back on and offered Chris a drink. Agreeing on wine, you pulled a bottle from the rack, passed the stemless glasses to Chris, grabbed his hand, and lead him back into the other room. Sitting on the larger of your two couches, Chris took a place beside you, taking the bottle from your hand, opening the bottle, and pouring you a generous glass before pouring his own.
“To friendship,” he said raising his glass
“To friendship, good food, and drinks,” you added and brought your glass to his, a quick clink, and sips were taken.
Dinner was ready within the hour and you both continued to chat while enjoying your meal.
“That was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, thank you”, complimented Chris as he wiped his mouth with the napkin when he had finished his last bite.
The compliment brought the feeling of heat to your face and out of awkwardness you almost knocked your glass over as you reached for the wine.
“Want a refill?” You asked, holding up the second bottle of red that night. “You have good taste in wine, Mr. Evans, this wine is top notch,” you said, looking over the label of the wine he had brought with him.
Chris smirked and slid the glass to his left “I’m glad you think so, I’ll definitely have another. This should probably be the last one though, I feel like I’m overstaying my welcome.” He watched as you poured, your hair falling forward as the wine glass filled. “Cheers, thank you for the invite and many thanks for a delicious meal. You are constantly surprising me with your talents.”
“You aren’t overstaying. I’m enjoying your company and don’t want you to leave yet. Here, let me show you what I’m working on for this year’s event,” you said and pulled your phone out of your dress pocket and slid your finger across the screen. Shifting your body across the cushions toward Chris, you held the phone out towards him.
“What is it you are putting on this year?”
“Another charity event, it’s to help out the single parents that live in the community. I try to donate as much time to charities as possible.”
“You have a heart of gold.”
“I want everyone to have a special holiday season, you do it. I see that you donate time and money to charities.”
“I have the means to help and giving back is extremely important to me.” Chris looked through a few more of the photos before placing the phone down next to him on the couch.
Reaching over to take her phone, Chris put his hand over yours and slid closer. “I know you always think I’m joking around with you when I say how much I love seeing you smile but I’m being 100% honest. Your smile is contagious and I feel like it lights up anywhere we are. It’s a beautiful smile and its part of why I’m so attracted to you.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at him. “Oh shush, you!” you said pushing your hand into his chest, your smile wider than he had seen before. Again, he put his hand over yours and pulled you to him gently with his other hand. He brought you close, enough to hold you against him for a hug. He watched as your eyes tried to find a joke hidden in his face but you quickly realized that there was something else there. You weren’t sure who moved first as your lips met quickly enough that your teeth clacked together and you swore in pain.
“Oh fuck, only I would ruin an almost perfect moment. I’m such an-
He pulled you to his lips again, kissing you softly and trying not to laugh at the look on your face.
“Am I a joke to you, Evans?” you asked, kissing him back on the lips.
“Oh, not at all, I didn’t want to have to explain to people we know how I broke your teeth though. I mean, I could make up some ridiculous story about it, could be fun,” he chuckled.
You couldn’t help but throw your head back and laugh, bringing yourself back up to face Chris and pull him by his shirt towards you and kissing him without any stupid errors. You could taste the wine on him, the sweetness adding to the softness of your kiss. He took the lead, pulling you closer and slipping his tongue delicately across your bottom lip before deepening the kiss.
Your eyes opened when you hear Chris let out a soft moan, not expecting to hear such a sound from him before you could emit one. He did it again and you felt it all the way down your spine and into your soul. Your hands, still in idiot mode, found their way to his hair, and were quickly taking apart his well-coiffed hair by running your hands through it.
“How does your hair smell so damn incredible?
“How do you taste so fucking delicious?
You pulled back, staring him in the eyes “Hmm, maybe you need to taste a bit more, clean that palate of yours,” you teased.
“Are you implying...”
“Not implying, the buffet is open, sir. Dig in.”
Chris’s face went a light shade of red.
“Oh, did I catch you off guard, Casanova?”
“I mean, no... no...’ he stumbled, “OK, fine yes, yes you did.”
“Well, now that you know, let’s get back to business. All right?”
You took control, standing up, taking his hand roughly and leading him to your bedroom.
“I want you to take off my clothing, piece by piece. I want to see it on the floor and,” you said placing her finger on his lips, “no more talking,” you ordered.
“Anything you want,” he whispered into your ear and he ran his tongue down your neck so softly, that goosebumps raised over yours arms. His hands wandered from your shoulders and down your arms, taking hold of your hands and moving them to his belt buckle.
Looking up to him, he nodded, silently urging you. Undoing the belt and still staring into his eyes. Moving to unzip his jeans and push the button away, Chris was unzipping the back of your dress, the cool line of metal touching your back as he drew the zipper down the length of your back.
“You have goosebumps, do I need to warm you up?
“I’m hoping you get to that. Now, what did I say about talking?”
He smirked, pushing the dress down each shoulder until it dropped to the floor. Stepping out of it, you kicked it off with one foot, tossing it towards the wall. Chris’s hands were already roaming, his hands on your hips, fingers sliding into the thin elastic of your panties. His hands slipped across your warm flesh and directly to your cheeks, grabbing each one and squeezing, and pulling you closer to him. His lips were pressed into yours, his tongue back to searching for yours as he wrapped his arms around you and brought you to your bed. Gently, he sat you on the edge and leaned into you bringing you down to the mattress.
His kisses ran down your sternum and across the soft skin of your breasts while his hands ran across the tops, gently running his fingers over your nipples.
“Keep doing that, keep... keep touching my breasts, Chris.”
You could feel him pressing into you, his erection, warm and pushing against your core.
His hands squeezed your left breast while he brought his mouth down to your right, taking the nipple into his mouth, gently sucking it. Running his tongue around the bud, a chill running across your arms and a moan escaping your lips.
“I need to be in you now, please, y/n,” he said, kissing up your chest.
“In the drawer, condoms are there and hurry the hell up, Evans, I’ve waited forever for it to rain and fill up the well.”
He chuckled as he crawled over you, limbs knocking yours, a soft hand slapped across his ass, as you watched him open the nightstand drawer, which got stuck in his effort to hurry. “Come on Evans, you got this,”
“A little self-talk over there to get you motivated?”
Chris smiled as he held up the package and smiled at you before sitting on the edge of the bed to roll the condom down his hard length. He was on you again, returning quickly, his lips pressing against yours. His lips, wet and warm, pushed harder against your mouth as he pushed your legs further apart, taking himself in his hand, rubbing across your wetness and pushing halfway. The groan that escaped his mouth while his tongue continued to touch yours, sent a tingling sensation down your body.
“Chris, please...” you started to plead and before you could continue, he finished pressing himself into you with a grunt.
“Come on baby, show me how well you can move,” he said as he licked a strip across your neck.
Wrapping your arms around his neck and shifting your body against his, you let out a wail. Your bodies moved together, the pace quick, the sounds of your wetness echoing throughout your room.
“Listen to the sounds we’re making, baby,” Chris panted and drove deeper into you. His body was incredibly warm against yours, the sweat making his chest glisten in what light crept in from the hallway.
Chris slipped his hand down and his fingers met your warmth, crawling in to press against your clit. You clenched around him; a low moan escaped his mouth as he continued his movements.
“A bit more, a bit more,” you groaned, your back arching as Chris sped up. You looked up at him and reached your hand up to his face, holding on and staring into his blue eyes as you felt the tingling ball up within.
Faster than expected and with one last swipe of his fingers, your orgasm spread out from within. Your shoulders tingled, spreading down to your fingers as you yelped out, the warmth of pleasure flowing down and across your body. Chris had shifted to move into you, helping your orgasm along as his own shuddering began. His lips were pressed into your neck, your name crossing his lips as he slowed his pace, and leaned onto one of his arms. He continued kissing up your neck and met your lips, heavy breaths escaping from both of your mouths.
“You’re incredible Y/N. Incredible.” One more kiss was pressed to your lips before Chris sat up, heading to the bathroom. You watched the light turn on and the door close behind him. You rolled to your side; a smile of satisfaction crossed your face as you closed your eyes.
Your heart jumped when you were woken by blankets being pulled half off of your naked body. It took you a few seconds to realize that a man, a very handsome man, was sleepy peacefully beside you. Turning to face his back and shimmying closer, you pulled the blanket to cover your shoulders and back. His muscular back stared at you and you couldn’t help but raise your hand to the pale skin, bringing your fingertip to his warm skin and drawing lines to connect each freckle.
“You, know, that feels incredible, please don’t stop,” Chris asked, his words muffled into the pillows.
You continued using his back as your canvas; swans, sunrises, all the beautiful pieces of the world this man helped you see.
Pushing back into you Chris spoke, “I’m going to be away next week, so I’m hoping I can see you again before I head out of town?”
Your fingers drew the word yes on his shoulder in response. Chris turned over to face you, pulling you closer to him for a soft kiss. When he pulled back you couldn’t help but smile and pulled him in for something a bit more passionate.

Bags packed and his dog set to stay with his family, he walked by the room Scott was in. “Hey, I’m heading out, the car is almost here. Give me a hug for the road.” His younger brother stood up and embraced him, giving him a few pats on the back and wishing him well for his short trip. “Will I see you when I get back or you heading back home?”
“I’m pretty sure I’ll be around still. Mom wants me to stay in town a bit longer. You okay if I’m still free loading off of you a bit longer than planned?”
“You know you’re more than welcome to stay,” he said as his phone chimed from his pocket. “Cars here. Take care of the fam and Dodger for me.” His brother gave him a smile and Chris grabbed his coat and carry-on from the table before heading to the front of the house. Dammit, he had forgotten to remind Scott again about what they had discussed earlier that day. “Scott, make sure you get that message to Y/N, okay? This schedule change was pretty last minute.” He shut the door before he heard a response from his brother. The driver held the door open for him and collected his bags to place in the trunk. He couldn’t get you out of his mind on the way to the airport; your smile, the scent of your hair, the warmth of your naked skin pressed against his. He couldn’t wait to be next to you again.
Request: Created for the #ssholidaychallenge hosted by @sagechanoafterdark and @sweater-daddiesdumbdork
Prompt: “Did you put antlers on the dog?”
Summary: You surprise Chris with Dodger's make-over.
Word Count: 514 (Sorry it's not more😭)
My Masterlist
A/N: It's not much and not very good, but I had fun writing this! I'm glad I could be part of the challenge. I will post my second entry for the challenge tomorrow or the day after too! 😊
Shutting the door behind you with your butt due to your full hands, you spare a glance across the floor and listen quietly.
“Chris?” — When there's no answer from the void you begin to smirk and put down the grocery-bags, hastily beginning to put away the items you had purchased.
Deep down in one of the bags, quite literally hidden, you eventually pull out what you consider the best buy of the entire year. Instantly grinning wider you make your way towards your and Chris' bedroom, opening it to an excited Dodger whose tail greetingly waggles as soon as he sees you.
“Hey buddy,” you greet him, giving him lots of cuddles and kisses, bathing him in affection.
Soon enough he notices the item in your hand and starts sniffing, inspecting every inch of it.
Your smile grows wider.
-
As you hear the front door open, you look up from where you sit on the couch in the living room with Dodger.
Moments later Chris's deep voice calls out: “Hey guys, I'm home!”
Giving Dodger a boop on his red nose, you quietly encourage him: “Go on, greet Daddy and show him!”
Once again, Dodge begins to waggle his tail, before taking off into the floor and towards the front door that's now closing.
“Well hello there, what do you-” Chris interrupts himself, audibly stunned before loudly exclaiming: “Y/N? Did you put antlers on the dog?”
Pleased with yourself, you stand up and head to the kitchen where Chris stared down at Dodger in wonder, who was proudly wearing his fake-antlers and waiting for a more exciting greeting from Chris.
You cringe slightly when you catch sight of Dodger and take a look around, quickly finding what you're looking for on the floor a few feet away.
“Dammit, his nose keeps on falling off!” — Muttering, you pick up the tiny red softball and go to put it on Dodger again, who- true to his name -dodges your hands and runs under the table to avoid wearing the matching nose to his antlers. — “I don't think he likes the nose very much, but he seems fond of his antlers, don't you think?”
Smiling widely at Chris, you gesture towards Dodger. Chris, on the other hand, only now manages to take his eyes off the dog and raises an eyebrow, his lips curling upwards in amusement. He can see that you're visibly proud of what you've done, and he'd lie if he said that Dodger dressed up as a reindeer wasn't adorable.
“You're a dork, you know that?” He teases you, walking over and kissing you softly on the lips before kneeling and stretching his arms towards Dodger, quietly tempting him out. “Come on, Dodge. What did she do to you, poor boy?”
Smacking his shoulder lightly, you roll your eyes and beam brightly when Dodger comes out from under the table and runs into Chris' arms, his antlers bouncing while doing so.
“No, he likes it! See?” You defend, gesturing towards the dog again. “It's Dodger, our rein-dog!”
A/N: Happy belated Valentine's everyone! My present to you all is my first fic in God knows how long! This is my entry for @sweater-daddiesdumbdork and @sagechanoafterdark ‘s Winter/Holiday Challenge. My prompt was “Do you wanna build a sno-” “Don’t you dare finish that” as well as a picture prompt that's in the main body of the story.
Summary: You wake up on Valentine's to find it's snowed overnight. Luckily you and Chris didn't have any plans anyway.
Warnings: Swearing, a slight sexual reference if you squint.
Word count: 887
Well, it was a good job you didn't have any big plans for Valentine's Day!
With Chris' job taking him to all corners of the globe, it meant that you didn't always get to spend important days like anniversaries and Valentine's together. If you were lucky enough to be together, the day would be spent watching movies, which would usually end up with pizza in bed or if you were feeling particularly adventurous, an all day breakfast at a 24-hour diner. It might seem that you barely bother on the outside, but time spent together, alone away from prying eyes was heavenly. The pair of you had been to so many swanky parties and red carpet events that, staying home in your comfies was always a novelty. Besides, there is nothing more treasured in a life less than ordinary than a small slice of normality after all.
But when you awoke that cold February morning to let Dodger out, you were glad that you hadn't made any concrete plans. Overnight, the sky had deposited a thick blanket of snow that had spread as far as the eye could see. You pulled open the French windows and felt a rush of cold air brush your bare legs as Dodger slipped outside. Making your way to the kitchen, you noticed Chris' blue velvet jacket thrown on the bench in the hallway. Hearing Dodger bark in delight, you hoped that he didn't wake Chris up, you were already asleep when he returned from the charity Valentine's ball the night before. As one of the charity's ambassadors, Chris felt compelled to stay until the end and help with clean up. You would've stayed too, but knowing that you had such a busy week at work Chris insisted that you needed to get to bed, and you were far too tired to argue.
Padding back to the bedroom, hot drinks in hand you heard the French windows open and close again as a low, gruff Bostonian accent greeted the much adored pup. The bedroom door was just open enough to see that he had his back to you. The fact that he was clad in just his boxers meant he had literally just dragged himself out of bed.
“Did you have fun in the snow bubba?” Chris cooed, kneeling down to Dodger's level to scratch him behind the ears. Reaching the doorway, you recognized the look on Dodger's face.
“Chris, you might want to-”
“Fahk!” Chris shrieked, scrambling to move out of the firing line as Dodger shook himself dry. Giggling you lent on the door frame and watched as he picked up a discarded T-shirt off the floor, using it to dry himself. As he threw the plain white tee back onto the floor, you decided to get his attention gently kicking the door to that all too familiar rhythm.
“Do you wanna build a sno-”
“Don’t you dare finish that!” Chris joked as he turned around to face you. “The last time you said that, you ended up shoving snow in my ass!”
You started laughing as you remembered the Evans' annual Christmas snowball fight a few weeks prior; as Scott's second in command you led an ambush to the rear of Team Chris' base, and well, it wasn't your fault a piece of snow became lodged between the perfect cheeks of America's Ass.
“You and I both know that's not how it went down,” you retorted, “and I don't remember you complaining when I warmed you back up that evening.”
Chris chuckled at the memory. “You know, I could use some warming up right now,” he said suggestively.
“Luckily I've got just the thing,” you said lifting one of the mugs in your hands. Chris tried to give you his best puppy-eyed look, but you shook your head laughing. “Get your mind out of the gutter Evans, there's plenty of time for that later!”
Wordlessly you both climbed back into bed, As Chris pulled the duvet over you both, Dodger jumped onto the bed and lay down in the narrow gap between your bodies. Trying not to spill your drink on the canine, you handed a Chris one of the mugs and watched him do a quick double take of the contents. Where he had been expecting his morning coffee, his mug was full of steaming hot chocolate with a squirt of whipped cream and a candy cane.
“Sweetheart, I'm not complaining, but isn't this a bit Christmassy?”
“Hot chocolate is perfect for a cold day like today, and those candy canes have been sat in the drawer since Christmas,” you shrugged, taking a sip.
For the next few minutes, you both drank your hot chocolates in relative silence enjoying the peace and solitude. Placing his mug on the bedside table, Chris rolled over to face you.
“How do you like the sound of this? We get up and take Dodger out for a hike in the snow and when we get back I'll light the fire, and we'll have a Disney movie marathon in bed. And if the road's get cleared, we'll order our usual from Tony's.”
Leaning over, you planted a quick peck on the cheek.
“That sounds like a perfect Valentine's Day to me.”

———
You clung to Steve’s arm as he guided the two of you towards the cabin. The snow was draped over every surface that you could see and with each breath, you took a small mist was seen. You nuzzled the side of your face into Steve’s arm trying to gain some warmth. He looked down at you and pulled you closer when he could see the discomfort on your face from the cold.
“We’re almost there, gorgeous. You’ll be warm in no time,” he cooed out at you.
You and Steve decided to take a winter couple's trip. You both had been so busy with work that you haven’t been able to spend as much time with each other that you would’ve liked. When Steve told you about a cabin that Tony had offered the two of you to use, you knew you couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
When you both got to the front door, Steve’s arms left you to pull out the key and unlock the door. Once it was opened you rushed in and took in the warmth of the cabin. It wasn’t a lot, but compared to outside, it was enough to have you feeling better. You ran towards the couch and jumped on his face down, laying on your stomach. You hummed at how comfortable it was and thanked the gods that Tony bought this place.
Steve shut the front door and placed your guy’s suitcase by the bag you had dropped by the front door. He chuckled when he took in the sight of you on the couch. He took a seat next to you and ran his hand up and down your back.
Feeling better,” he questioned with a smile on his face that you could easily hear.
You hummed and turned yourself onto your back meeting his grin, “Much.”
Steve leaned down to peck your lips before going to undo the laces of your boots. You watched in adoration and wiggled your toes when they were free from the constricting boots. Steve bought you them to make sure you had good shoes for the weather, which you appreciated, but they definitely killed your feet. You winced when Steve’s thumb grazed the side of your ankle. He noticed this and took off your sock to look at the reddening blister starting to form.
Steve brought your ankle up to his mouth and placed a few kisses. He looked at you and brought his hand up to stroke your cold cheek.
“I’m sorry, doll. Maybe these shoes weren’t the best idea,” he pouted out at you. You quickly sat up to peck the tip of his nose. “It’s not your fault, baby, they’re just new.”
He smiled at you and replaced your sock on your foot before he fully released you to get up. Your eyebrows furrowed and you grabbed his arm to make him stay put. “You’re not going to lay down with me?”
“It’s going to get colder soon, doll, so I’m going to get some wood from outside. You don’t want to freeze, right,” he questioned with a smirk and wiggled your toes.
You giggled and pushed at his shoulder with your foot, “Don’t tease me.”
“I would never,” he continued to tease and patted your thigh before heading for the back door.
“Do want me to help,” you called out.
“No, I’m fine, doll. I swear I’ll be quick.”
When Steve got outside chills erupted throughout him and he easily noticed that the snow was falling at a faster pace than it was before. You both had only been at the cabin for about ten minutes and there were already inches of snow covering the ground. Steve hurriedly looked around for the wooden logs and grabbed them quickly to head inside before he was drowned out by snow.
“That was quicker than I thought,” you looked at him setting the logs down by the fireplace.
“Thank god they were already chopped because the snow was getting so bad-”
Steve was cut off when he heard a heavy, loud thump outside. He carefully approached the door and opened it just as carefully. When he did he heard your audible gasp and his mouth fell slack.
White. That’s all either of you could see.
Steve pushed his hand through the snow trying to feel how deep it was and if the two of you would be able to get out if needed, but he deemed that the two of you were officially snowed. When you heard this you weren’t necessarily worried, but all you could think of was how cold you thought the house was going to get, and how you and Steve wouldn’t be able to do any of the activities that you wanted to do before—that was disappointing.
Steve could clearly see the disappointment on your face. You’d been talking about this trip for weeks and planning everything to a T. His heart clenched thinking about you pulling out your little planner and crossing everything off with a pout on your lips. He quickly closed the door and went to the couch to kneel in front of you. Steve’s hands came to engulf your thighs and rubbed soothing circles on them to make you feel better. He was your pout decrease and looked up at you with a small smile.
“I know you’re disappointed , angel, but there’s loads of other things we can do inside.”
“Like what?”
Steve looked down at you with a wide grin and squeezed your thighs, “cuddling.”
Now that response from him had been from over an hour ago. The pout Steve reduced earlier had only returned and deepened. He had just begun to start the fire after trying to find lighter fluid in the house with help from you. It took the two of you an embarrassing long time, but you’d managed to find it. Steve sent you to take a shower earlier so when you came back you could easily fall asleep on the warm couch. But now here you were more cold than before, and just wanting your Stevie to hold you and warm you up.
“Yes!” Steve called out when the fire lit and he started to feel the heat from the flames lick the palms of his hands when he held them up to the fire. He looked back at you with a smile trying to get you to reciprocate one, which you did when you saw how adorable Steve looked. When Steve started to walk out of the room though, your frown returned.
“Where are you going?”
Steve turned back to you with brows furrowed in confusion, “to take a shower. I didn’t think you’d want to cuddle with me being gross like this.”
“I’m freezing, you’re warm. Hug me,” you whimpered out.
Steve heart fluttered when he saw how sad you look at not touching him for a couple of hours. It also made pride bubble in his chest that he had this affect on you, but he could tease you about that another time.
Steve approached you and stroked your head that was lying limp on a pillow and quickly pressed a kiss to your temple, “Give me ten minutes and then I’m all yours.”
Your eyes fluttered closed, trying to pass time hopefully if you could sleep for the ten minutes that Steve needed. You knees were curled into your chest and your toes tucked in the space between two cushions for warmth. You reached your arm out to grab the blanket draped on the chair beside to sofa. You were half-assed when you put it on yourself, but it would have to deal in the meantime.
You didn’t know you had fallen into a slumber until your body was carefully being picked up and sat back down onto the couch, but instead you felt heat radiating on your back. You quickly turned over, burying your face into Steve’s neck and you heard him slightly hiss at that, which you assumed it was because of the cold. He brought his arms around you, pulling you in as close as he can. It was times like this when he was so grateful that the serum always kept his body warm—him being able to warm his girl up was something that made him smile.
Steve’s fingers gliding up and down your back, sometimes even drifting to the leg you had thrown over his waists and this went on your a while until he started to slow fork exhaustion. He readjusted you slightly and made sure that you both were comfortable before securing the blanket around you too. Before he closed his eyes, they got caught on the clock just above the fireplace.
12:00
A smile made its way to Steve’s face and he sighed softly before his eyes fluttered closed. He kissed your temple and a warm feeling crossed over him before he whispered words that you only slightly registered in your half-asleep state of mind.
You woke up, stretching out as much as you could and searching for the will to get up. You found that will when your eyes looked outside your window. A bright, fresh powder covered everything. Snow! The first snow of the season to be exact. You tried your best to hold in your squeal, as to not disrupt your sleeping partner next to you any more than necessary. The grumble that came from behind and the arm that tightened its hold around you served to tell you he acknowledges you are awake, but it is not yet time to get up. He needs more time to hold you and breathe you in, ground himself before he embraces the day. You could give him that. You twisted around, nuzzling your head into his chest, whispering “but when we do get up, we are definitely playing in the snow.” The warmth of his chest and the comfort of the blankets soon lulled you back to sleep.
A couple hours later you awoke again, this time alone in the bed. You felt your face set in a pout; but looking out the window and seeing how much the snow had grown, you found yourself smiling again. Pulling off your covers, you hopped out of bed and slipped on your robe and slippers, running to find your boyfriend. He was seated at your little dining room table, reading the newspaper and drinking his coffee. At the sound of your footsteps he glanced up to see you. The smile on your face was contagious. His little scowl that he gets whenever he is reading softened and turned into a smile.
“What’s gotten into you, eager beaver?”
You rolled your eyes at him. “Did you not see all that snow outside??” You realized how childish you sounded, but your excitement spared you from feeling any embarrassment.
“You are off the cob, babydoll.”
What did he just say? That was a new one for you. Over the past couple years, you had begun to pick up on your boyfriend’s old-fashioned lingo. You had spent plenty of hours researching the lingo of the 1930s and 40s to try to avoid situations like this. Apparently, you had missed a few phrases and you were not good at masking your confusion. Bucky let out one of his hearty laughs that made your heart flutter regardless of how many times you have heard that sweet sound.
“I was calling you silly, sweetheart. Sorry for the confusion.”
“I learn something new every day with you.” You moved closer to him to sit on his lap and plant a quick kiss on his lips. “Can we please go out into the snow now?”
He let out a sigh of fake annoyance and an exaggerated eye roll for effect. “I guess so.” He lightly tapped your hip with his fingers. “You gotta get up first.” You hopped off his lap and ran back to your bedroom to change into some snowy weather appropriate clothes. Bucky trailed behind you, but at a normal pace.
Once you were both adequately dressed you found yourself in the backyard. The chilled air bit at your nose and brought you to life. Bucky loved seeing you like this. It might sound cliché, but your eyes truly seemed to sparkle, filled with childish innocence. He was too wrapped up in his thoughts to notice you bend over to pick up some snow. Suddenly he felt something thump against his shoulder. Looking down, there were remnants of icy dust clinging to his sweater. He looked up at you in shock.
“Did you just...?”
Your grin told it all.
“Oh, you’re gonna regret that sweetheart.” Quickly he bent down and grabbed some snow of his own, packing it into a ball.
“No!” You squealed and ran away from him, nowhere in particular, with nowhere really to hide. Bucky did not even try to run towards you, he just threw the snowball from where he stood. The snowball smacked into your back right between your shoulder blades. You let out a laugh as you desperately tried to assemble another snowball before Bucky, but ultimately you knew it was pointless. He was a super soldier. As you were about to straighten yourself back up, another snowball hit you in the face.
“Bucky!!”
He shrugged at you. “All’s fair in love and snowball fights, darling.”
How could you get mad at this man? Suddenly an idea popped into your head. You skipped towards Bucky. As you came to a stop in front of him you started to sing, “do you wanna build a sno-,” but Bucky cut you off before you could finish, putting his fingers over your lips to quiet you.
“Don’t you dare finish that.”
Bucky moved his fingers from your mouth and rested his hand under your cheek. His other arm wrapped around your waist, pulling you close. Even through your winter clothes, the vibranium turned even colder by the temperature and snow, bit lightly at your skin. Slowly and gently he leaned down and kissed you. Suddenly you forgot all about your unbuilt snowman.
