The county of St Maur is ruled by tradition: A job in one of the great houses of St Maur is seen as the highest aspiration for anyone who aims for anything that isn’t farming or be sent to the workhouse, and being given a seat among the upper class families writes you into the history books. Yet, even the countryside is not safe from the wind of change. Especially when there are those who wish nothing more than to usher it in and shake up the lives of all who live there.
Upper class or lower class, everyone has a stake in it. Can a life in service really be a happy one? Can a life in a golden cage really be an honest one? Everyone has to decide between following tradition or allowing the advent of modernity.
