Last game ending SUCKED ASS
okay you guys clearly want my rant so here we go:
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT ENDING?!?! HELLO????
i’m not even gonna touch on the haircuts that were assigned i’ve got mixed feelings.
so like through most of the movie I was chill cause it was kinda standard KNB insanity (well... not chill exactly i texted my friend “me and my brother are going insane watching last game” when we got to Akashi swapping and we couldn’t shut up when the gom showed up to defend Kuroko, also why did Kasamatsu not just ... murder Nash?? It felt right. It felt like what both could and should happen considering the way he handles Kise how’s he just gonna stand there and take that??? and why did Mura break his WHOLE ARM what?!?!?!? why bring in substitutes and like not use them? why did akamido have to do the midotaka pass when Takao is right there on the bench able to do it??? .... sorry got distracted end side bar)
but that ending goes against not only Kagami’s entire character arch but the entire message of the show!!!!!
Kagami’s whole thing in this show (aside from being an Aomine parallel...) is learning to work with and value his team to become the number one players in japan. he and Kuroko are supposed to do that as a team, and he has to be constantly reminded that he has support he has his team and that’s how he eventually wins the winter cup: by entering the zone within the zone (the space jam) because he cares about/is working with his team.
the whole show is Kuroko and Kagami teaching this lesson to Kuroko’s former team mates. they all (well... i disagree on this all Mido did absolutely nothing wrong he kept going to practice he wasn’t participating in the gom’s mean spirted game play and got pretty much all of his positive character dev from Takao but that’s another issue for another day) needed to be humbled by losing to Kuroko’s team so that they could see team work and team bonds are the way to both win at basketball and actually enjoy this sport that they loved.
so how are they just going to undermine all of that by having Kagami separate from his team and his partner (who the fuck is Kuroko gonna light/shadow with??) and drop his goal of being number one in Japan -WHICH HE NEVER HIT???? THEY BARELY WON MOST OF THEIR GAMES AND ONE ON ONE HE STILL GETS CRUSHED- to just fuck off to america because he suddenly wants to do that to join the NBA like if that’s suddenly the goal instead of best in japan why did you even move back to japan at all??? he acknowledges that Kuroko got him to where he is but he’s just going to dip to go by himself to play in america? and Aomine’s talking about going too which erases his character development as well and his was even harder won
and besides all that, even if it didn’t go against the entire foundation of the show: who wants to see that? who is the target audience for that ending? you’ve spent three seasons watching these characters grow and form bonds together who wants to see them severed like that? this team struggled and worked and bonded together and now one of their core members is just gonna dip and go to another country actually? what kind of conclusion is that?? fuck that man when Kagami ran back to talk to Kuroko he should have been realizing he needs and wants his team and decided to stay. my brother and i were literally booing at the screen lmao
