I know Dr. Venkman usually handles the invoice side of things, but how much would it cost me to get you to come cause enough of a distraction at this gala for me to get out of here before I have one more socialite try to set me up with their 'oh-so-lovely and single' son or daughter? I'll throw in access to my private labs as well, if that sweetens the deal. Just don't tell Ms. Potts I called you." || @starkastichotmess
❝ - And here I thought you enjoyed being the centre of attention, Mr. Stark. ❞
HIS RESPONSE POSSESSED ALL THE SUBTLE QUALITIES OF ONE THAT WAS INTENDED AS AMUSED SARCASM. The expression he wore matched the tone of his words - not that Tony was able to actually see it for himself - as he remained seated on one of the sofas upstairs, positioned next to the telephone on the end table. For once, it’d been fairly quiet, and Janine had exhbited the earliest signs of a cold. Thus, she’d been immediately dismissed home, the very person to utter such an order being well-versed in the relevant period of contagiousness (and the last thing he needed at the moment was to fall ill himself), and he himself had manned the line instead. The entire evening had passed more or less completely interrupted, save for this unexpected disruption to his peace and quiet. Not that it wasn’t welcomed; he tended to enjoy the circumstances of whatever interaction he found himself having with Tony Stark.
❝ I’m sure I could think of something. ❞
IN WANTING TO ESCAPE CHAOS, TONY WAS ASKING HIM TO PROVOKE IT. Interesting, and somehow not at all surprising coming from the man that had a habit of existing as Iron Man. Most heroes worked to avoid the spotlight, whereas Tony has outright declared his alter-ego to the world. From the perspective of a psychologist, if that didn’t scream a penchant for reckless mischief, he didn’t know what did - but he was happy to help all the same. An accidental escape from Slimer would no doubt do the trick; the only threat he’d pose would be to the canapes. Failing that, he supposed he could always set some of the curtains on fire with a poorly-aimed proton beam.
