Okay so we've all talked about Vox being like "as long as I wipe that smile off of Alastor's fucking face I don't care what happens"

And we've talked about Vox potentially being redeemed

And Pentious had to die - to sacrifice himself - to be redeemed

What if Vox dies in Alastors arms?

What if the first (or only) time that Alastor stops smiling, is when Vox sacrifices himself for Alastor, and Alastor realizes that someone could love him enough to literally die for him?

I think it would fuck Alastor up

And I think it would make Vox happy

lucifer and vox are rich4rich in an entitled royalty x exploitative billionaire way that means neither of them are particularly decent to service workers, and i just know it pisses alastor alllll the way off. they're not outright cruel but they are dismissive and view being "the help" as an inherently demeaning position that's obviously beneath them, while alastor, who knows intimately what it's like to be seen as lesser, resents the fuck out of that attitude. i actually think vox probably worked some shitty low-paying jobs during his early years in hell, but learned 0 lessons in empathy from the experience because he was always hyperfocused on moving up and onto greener pastures. on the other hand, lucifer's been a king for ten thousand years; his ass does NOT give his servants a second glance anymore, if he ever did. considering how he looks down on sinners in general, + all of his condescending little remarks about alastor being the hotel's busboy/bellhop, that implies to me that he considers those jobs to be unimportant and not respectable compared to him, royalty. these three would struggle severely to go out for dinner as a group because alastor would be seething violently the entire time watching vox and lucifer interact with the waitstaff

Chapter 7: Seeing Red has been updated!

Only some minor tweaks this chapter; although I did add in Velvette!

The door behind Vox was thrown open, and Velvette entered the room with an exaggerated sigh. “What’re you two arguin’ about now?” her tone was bored as she walked past them, her face buried in her phone. “Vox has decided to chase after the guy that broke his heart fifty years ago,” Valentino provided, throwing a hand in Vox’s direction. “And to dump me to do it,” he added sulkily. “Oh, bad move, Vee,” she advised, not bothering to look up as she plopped down onto the couch. “That’s not what’s happening,” Vox growled frustratedly. “I have nothing to do with Alastor; I’m dating Lucifer!”  That got Velvette to look up from her phone. She blinked slowly as she stared across the room at the television demon. “You’re dating the King of Hell?”  “Why is that so hard to believe?” he demanded. “Cause the guy’s married, hates Sinners, and you’re you,” she ticked off the reasons on her fingers.  “He’s actually divorced, he likes me, and fuck you.”

Applemedia fic, where Lucifer is trying to figure out how to get his homoerotic rivalry with Alastor to move directly into the homoerotic and less rivalry territory. Because CLEARLY there's something, but apparently Alastor wants him to make the first move. (Makes sense. He is still technically married, and that's a big can of worms Alastor might not want to deal with until he's officially single).

And then he meets Vox and is like, wait. Are ALL of Alastor's rivalries like this???? Is he cheating on us?

Vox is just like, no, we're here to suffer. This is just how it is. Welcome to the club, I guess, but I WILL sabotage any attempts you make at getting closer to Al. He's mine I was here first.

Cue Vox and Lucifer fighting in the background for Alastor’s attention to be the Number One Rival of All Time, who maybe will win a kiss or something as a reward.

Alastor is just vibing along with jazz elevator music in his head, has not noticed a thing.
