Exclusive: Christie Tseng has joined Avatar Studios as Executive Art Director
She was previously a character designer on TLOK, including some of the coolest and most iconic designs and moments of the franchise, so this is definitely a deserved promotion!
Exclusive: William Niu has joined Avatar Studios as Art Director
He was previously a background designer on The Legend of Korra!
Exclusive: Lauren Montgomery is directing the Avatar Studios movie
I can confirm that Lauren Montgomery (ATLA, TLOK crew, showrunner of Voltron: Legendary Defender) is directing the Avatar Studios movie-- not a show or some other project-- as previously we didn't know what she was directing.
Exclusive: Steve Ahn is the Head of Storyboard on Avatar Studios' movie!
He was previously a storyboard artist and assistant director on The Legend of Korra!

Last year, Avatar Studios itself was announced, this year will include “a preview of what's coming next”-- but not guaranteed for Avatar. It’s at 4pm ET tomorrow, any news will be covered on the Avatar News Twitter and Instagram first, then rounded up here when the dust has settled-- but again, nothing guaranteed!

AfterBuzz: I have seen the screencap where it shows you guys [Lauren and Joaquim] as well as many other people that work on the Voltron staff as characters at the bar.
Joaquim: Yea, that was our director.
Lauren: That was all Steve [Ahn], yea.
Joaquim: He put that in the storyboard, and then it made it all the way through the character design.
Lauren: Another little known fact is that Steve did, literally himself, all of the artwork for Shiro’s manga flashback.
Joaquim: That’s right, that’s all his hand-drawn art.
