Imagine Steve helping Bruce in any little way he can because he knows it hasn't been an easy road for the doc

“Hey.”
Bruce starts at Steve’s voice despite the ruckus he made coming into the lab and Steve quickly puts his hand between Bruce’s head and the hard edge of an extended metallic arm before he hits it.
“What are you working on?”
“Tony hasn’t named it yet and it’s his turn, but basically, he woke up with an idea to make regeneration of cells possible.” Bruce huffs lightly. “It’s a work in progress. Haven’t gotten anywhere yet.”
Steve curls his fingers through Bruce’s hair lightly. “That sounds amazing and if anyone can make this, it’s the two of you. I made food.”
A small smile plays on Bruce lips and warmth and affection floods Steve.
“Thanks, Steve.”
“Ah, don’t worry about it. I’m pretty useless with science, so this is how I get help out.”
“Does that mean you’re our kept man, Cap?” Tony teases as enters the room, pushing a cart load of...things.
“Tony?”
“Yes, Cap?”
“I have your food. Your favorite, in fact, if I remember correctly,” Steve says, slowly ripping the foil off the container.
Tony whines. “You win.”
After breaking through into the first-team last season, Sean Longstaff has become a permanent fixture in the Newcastle squad this year. The 22-year-old has featured 21 times in the Premier League alone, and looks set to be a key part of the Magpies midfield over the coming seasons. But having been given his first opportunity by Rafa Benitez, Longstaff may face the prospect of having to work under a third different Newcastle manager should Steve Bruce leave the club this summer. THINK YOU’RE A BIG MAGPIES FAN? CAN YOU NAME THESE FORMER PLAYERS BY LOOKING AT THEIR CAREERS? GO ON, GIVE IT A GO… WORLD CLASS SCORE: 95% | EXPERT SCORE: 80% | VETERAN SCORE: 65% | INTERMEDIATE SCORE: 45% | AMATEUR SCORE: 30% | TRY AGAIN: 5% Reports have suggested that with the club on the verge of takeover, Bruce could be one of the first to go as the new owners look to bring in a man of their own. Despite that, Longstaff has leapt to his manager’s defence, and insisted that he deserves the chance to prove himself. Speaking on The Epic podcast (as quoted by The Chronicle), he said: “From the moment he came, in China, at the start of this season, he’s been brilliant. “There have been times where for me personally I’ve wanted to play, he’s left me out and I’ve asked the question (why) and he’s been brutally honest with me. If you look at the team this year, we’ve been pretty successful I think – a lot of people wrote us off at the start, and I think it would be unfair if you didn’t give him the chance to carry on the work that he has started to put into place.” And after hearing what Longstaff had to say, Newcastle fans flooded to Twitter to share their reactions. maybe get your form back first and your brother on side. Let an actual sporting director with real money make the call. So we can like I dunno.. be successful for a change…. — Cryteareons Collection (@icharliehunter) May 30, 2020 He could be saying that just so he gets a game if the takeover falls through. — Callum Kitson (@callumkitson) May 30, 2020 Let your feet do the talking Sean lad! — Dan (@DanHeths84) May 30, 2020 A couple of Magpies supporters seemed unsurprised that Longstaff was “toeing the party line”, and suggested that Bruce is having a negative effect on him. Oh, is it because he along with the rest get 4 days off if they win a game as a reward? Course he wants Bruce to stay and be given a chance. Not to mention that a proper manager/coach would see him and the rest as canny average players and would be looking to upgrade the majority — Delboy E (@dedwards1892) May 30, 2020 Another player toeing the party line. Bit of a coincidence that his form dropped right off after the departure of Rafa. Rafa took him under his wing and worked with him, Bruce however probably trashed his career with his poor training methods and lazy approach. — Richard Thornton (@richthestag) May 30, 2020 One Magpies fan raised the prospect of the players potentially knowing more information about the takeover and what that could mean, and wondered whether because he “sounds obviously confident”, he knows that Bruce may be staying on. Do you reckon the players know something, he sounds obviously confident — jamie leadbitter (@LeadbitterJamie) May 30, 2020 A couple of supporters just urged the club to get rid of Longstaff, with one fan claiming that his comments showed “he clearly has no ambition”. Get rid of him aswell when the new owners come in he clearly has no ambition keep Matty though — GeordieND (@ND46009184) May 30, 2020 That’s it. Get rid. Get coutinho in. — Wor Geordie (@1ofEurons_mutes) May 30, 2020 It certainly seems a bit harsh for a few Magpies fans to call on the club to get rid of Longstaff, and his backing of Bruce is hardly surprising. But under a manager like Mauricio Pochettino who helped develop the likes of Dele Alli at Tottenham, Newcastle supporters could be seeing the very best of Longstaff in the near future. #SeanLongstaff #SteveBruce #PremierLeague
Newcastle United’s takeover is still not complete, but as ever, it nears completion. And it appears as if former Magpies boss Rafa Benitez has caught wind of the situation and is said to be interested in an emotional return to St James’ Park. The Telegraph claim that the Spaniard, who is now in charge of Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Yifang, is keen on returning to the northeast side under new Saudi Arabian-backed ownership and already has an idea of the sort of players he could sign. Premier League duo Ross Barkley and John Stones are two signings mentioned as United will have a new wealth of riches at their disposal. Chelsea’s Barkley is valued at just £19.35m by Transfermarkt and has featured just 20 times this campaign, providing three goals and four assists. The Telegraph also state that Steve Bruce is likely to be given a chance to stay on as Newcastle boss, so Benitez may need to be patient if he truly wants to swap China for a return to Tyneside. Although Premier League clubs have entered a grey area when it comes to summer finances, Newcastle are arguably a club with the least amount of worries. The Magpies will undergo a huge takeover as ownership changes hands for a staggering £300million deal. As Newcastle look to enter this new era, it’s likely other changes will be made as well. Graeme Souness has commented that Amanda Staveley may want to replace Steve Bruce as manager, but it will not guarantee success. In an interview with Sky Sports, Souness said: “I imagine they’ll want someone who is deemed to be a bigger name, someone who’s maybe done a bit more in the game, but that doesn’t guarantee them success. As always, it’ll come down to what players they can attract there.” According to ESPN, the club have named Mauricio Pochettino amongst the list of potential managerial candidates to replace Bruce. Another name Newcastle are interested in is Massimiliano Allegri who, on paper, looks the better with six Serie A titles and 11 overall honours with Juventus on his CV. However, after six years in the Premier League already under his belt, Pochettino could be the smarter option to drive Newcastle into this exciting new era. Despite not winning any silverware with Tottenham, the 48-year-old made club history by reaching the Champions League final for the first time. His knowledge of beating the bigger English clubs could also help Newcastle establish themselves as a real threat amongst some of the league’s best. With a much higher transfer budget at his disposal, Pochettino’s keen eye for business could really help spruce up the first team’s ranks. It will be a welcome thought for the Argentine to target and buy the names on his shopping list, after experiencing some very slim transfer windows under Daniel Levy. QUIZ: HOW MUCH DID MIKE ASHLEY PAY FOR THESE NEWCASTLE PLAYERS? WORLD CLASS SCORE: 95% | EXPERT SCORE: 80% | VETERAN SCORE: 65% | INTERMEDIATE SCORE: 45% | AMATEUR SCORE: 30% | TRY AGAIN: 5% During Pochettino’s era, Spurs went two whole transfer windows without making a single signing, something a Premier League club had never done before. Similarly, Jose Mourinho has reportedly been informed that the club’s spending budget will be a mere £50million unless Spurs qualify for the Champions League this season (via The Telegraph). At a club with more freedom to spend and fresh strategies on the table, Pochettino could really flourish in a new managerial role. His name alone could be enough to entice players to take the leap and join the work-in-progress that is Newcastle. The Magpies are currently 13th in the league table after doing well to pull away from the relegation scrap. With eight points between them and the drop-zone, they have enough breathing space to survive this season before the real transformation takes place this summer. #PremierLeague #MauricioPochettino #SteveBruce

Kevin Phillips joined The Debate podcast and discussed Newcastle’s victory over West Brom that punched their ticket for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. It was a rather dramatic night in the end but Steve Bruce and his squad secured a nail-biting 3-2 victory against the Championship leaders and are now into the quarter-finals of the tournament. But according to Phillips, there was one man who stood out for him and that was Miguel Almiron as the 26-year-old attacking midfielder dropped a brilliant display. Here’s what Phillips said on The Debate podcast (4/3/2020): “He’s become more clever in the last year. He’s getting his head up a lot more, he’s showing a lot more composure, of course, the work rate is still there and you can see how much he’s adored by the Newcastle supporters. Tonight he showed a bit of everything – he showed intelligence, his decision making at the right time was spot on, his finishing was outstanding. He looks a top-quality player.” Since these words are basically coming from a West Brom perspective, seeing how Phillips is a former player of the club himself, the praise is just that much more meaningful. Of course, it’s also quite warranted as Almiron netted a brace on the night, definitely doing his part of the job on the pitch and making sure his team advanced into the quarter-finals. This in itself is a great achievement for the Magpies but it remains to be seen if they can do even more. Newcastle fans, what did you think of Almiron’s performance vs West Brom?
