PARTY AND TEENS POST EPILOGUE 90S HEADCANONS

- will byers HATES pop punk music he thinks it’s soooo boring and lame and he says it feels so on the nose and in your face and it lacks any subtlety or real artistry or anything unique

- mike secretly likes pop punk music but he only listens to it when will isnt with him and he doesn’t tell will that he listens to it because he doesn’t want to sit through another rant but now the rant would be accompanied by those judgy eyebrows

- el not only helps dustin make flash cards, but she gets upset when he doesn’t let her make them for him. she has a whole process with color coding and her special highlighters and pens and she’ll draw little symbols on them and dustin keeps every single set of flash cards she makes

- jonathan byers was at kurt cobain’s first show at the pyramid in nyc and he’s sooo pissed when nirvana becomes mainstream (the og name three songs guy)

- max runs into ralph macchio in LA one day at a random restaurant and she talks about it forever and lucas is so jealous of how much she talks about it and also that he wasn’t there

- el goes to beauty school to become a hairdresser. she briefly apprentices as a nail tech before she decides that she hates the chemical smell of nail polish, and yes she defends the smell of hair dyes and bleaches whenever someone points out that they both involve chemicals

- lucas thought frosted tips were lowkey so cool and tried to convince every one of his friends to get them and he almost got steve to but that got shut down by dustin after el volunteered to do them for steve

- robin doesn’t have her own apartment, she jumps from living with whoever her current girlfriend is to living with steve when they break up (my uhaul lesbian ily) but she does pay rent or utilities or whatever everywhere she goes

- the party still has coordinated halloween costumes when they want to from across the country and they all take pictures in their costumes and mail them to each other and they tape them together to make it look like a group photo

- el is obsessed with making friendship trinkets. she goes through phases, sometimes it’s beaded lizard keychains and braided bracelets and beaded bracelets and cheap earrings, and let’s just say she had a rainbow loom. one of the large ones

- max loves pj harvey and paramore and fifth harmony she pretty much only listens to female fronted bands on principle, and lets just say she was turning female rnb and female alt rock UP

- dustin actually changes his major like six times and everyone keeps going “you’re gonna have to play so much catch up” and like he does, but he just takes a bunch of summer classes and he handles it with like very minor breakdowns

- lucas goes on to become a lawyer and everyone teases him for dressing preppier now, especially max, but the moment he gets on his suit and tie, she doesn’t have a thing to complain about and they both know it and yes he and max quote legally blonde at each other constantly

there’s a lot of “right, that’s good! that’s good, okay, just slow down at the - jesus christ, rob, what are you doing?? trying to hit every pedestrian possible??”

they insult and praise each other in almost equal measure. none of it is said sincerely

robin starts timing how long steve takes on his hair every morning. his “record” is 21 minutes 16 seconds

every time robin goes out on a date there’s a forty minute long parade of her trying on different jackets and being like “good?” and steve being like “ehhh where’s the big denim one”

similarly. steve takes an interest in eddie and goes to robin like “what do you know about metal??”

she’s like “absolutely nothing. we should find out”

there’s like an entire day of them lying on the count going through different cassettes and being like “oh this one is okay!!” or “no, absolutely not” or “jesus, is he chanting SUCK?? is that what he’s saying”

one year robin is like “okay. steve. i need you to pretend to be my boyfriend this christmas so my parents get off my back”

so he goes with her to her parents house and they fuck around pretending to be a couple for a bit. needless to say theyre awful at it

“oh yeah i was exactly robin’s type, even in high school. isn’t that right, rob?” 

“isn’t his hair charming, mom? i think it’s charming and not ridiculous at all. steve, honey, tell them what products you put in it.” 

robin sometimes does her nails black, and whenever she does them steve ends up reluctantly asking her to do his. black isn’t his thing, though, so they acquire a collection of baby blue and pale orange and navy bottles

they room together. obviously. they share a flat for like, ever

and eventually if they separate, they are always in the same apartment complex or on the same road

theyd die for each other. goes without saying. i think about the fakeout death with steve in season 5 sometimes and how if you go back and watch it, you’ll notice robin is screaming. almost like she’s the one falling. the clip makes me cry

theyre absolutely the most important people in each other’s lives, and i don’t think that’s a bold thing to say.

Also I love that after the Tammy Thompson talk Robin clearly came to Steve about her next crush and he was like "seeee, that's better taste" and approved and is rooting for her when we first see them now in season 4.

Not slick sunday but I think Steve would sit thru the lord of the rings movies only bc Robin agrees to sit w him while Eddie nerds out, till it's the final movie & there's tht scene "don't go where I can't follow" and the next thing Eddie knows he has a couch full of crying stobin promising to die on the same night holding hands

Steve and Robin come out to see Corroded Coffin at their Vegas stop and they have a great time and after the concert they and the band go out for drinks because when in Vegas right? and they all maybe go a little too far and get blackout drunk and Steve, Eddie and Robin all wake up in a bed together, fully clothed of course, but incredibly hungover and it takes them a while to notice the rings but then Steve finds the certificate and all hell breaks loose

Robin and Eddie got married last night

Steve has never felt more betrayed in his LIFE, he was supposed to drunkenly marry Robin one day, they're soulmates, how has she ended up married to Eddie?? the two of them shrug as Steve storms around the room, Robin totally apologetic and willing to make it up to Steve, Eddie relaxing back into the bed because now he has a wife and a boyfriend

Eddie has to leave for his next tour stop so they can't annul it straight away but when they do they gleefully tell everyone who can hear that they never consummated their marriage thank you very much and headlines hit the next day about the lead singer of Corroded Coffin getting a divorce from his secret wife, an ex wife who left hand in hand with another man and all hell breaks loose again when Steve realises this means people think they can just hit on Eddie now they think he's single

It was Steve's 29th birthday and although Eddie had plans -rockstar duties- that didn't stop Robin from swooping in and saving the day.

Work couldn't be escaped, which sure, that was shitty, but Steve owned the place and still had to see through certain duties on a daily basis. Plus it gave him and Robin the opportunity to hash out their plans for the evening. On their way out of the shop they ordered pizza to Steve's apartment and set out to the closest gas station to procure a hoard of candy and a couple bottles of wine.

It was their constant gabbing back and forth that distracted Steve from Eddie's car in the parkade. 

Both he and Robin, oblivious to the fact of what was waiting in the apartment for Steve, they carried on.

By the time the elevator reached the 34th floor, a bag of Skittles had been demolished and Steve was laughing so hard he was hiccuping. With tears in his eyes and gasping for breath Steve was bent over wheezing when Robin opened the door to his and Eddie's apartment, leaving him momentarily blind to the sight before him.

But that didn't mean he missed the blood curdling scream released by Robin in the same instant Eddie's voice yelled out a happy, “Surprise!”

Popping upright with the joy that his boyfriend was home for his birthday, Steve was met with a very nude Eddie. There in his porcelain skin and tattooed glory, Eddie was laid out on their black leather couch, surrounded by rose petals, candles and chocolates.

Steve's heart fluttered with excitement.

And Robin's shuddered with horror. “Eddie! What the fuck!? Put your junk away!”

While Eddie calmly cupped himself on the couch not moving another inch from his position, Steve struggled to pull his eyes away as Robin's ire was turned towards him.

“I thought you said he wasn't going to be home, Dingus. How am I ever going get the image of Eddie's saggy nuts -

“-hey my nuts aren't saggy!”

- out of my head. It'll be forever burned into my retinas. I'll have to bleach my eyeballs or carve them out with a fucking spoon.”

Eddie's now grumbling to himself on the couch looking down at his crotch, most likely trying to hype himself up from Robin's early insult. Steve's sure he hears the whispered words of, ‘You're not saggy, you're perfectly normal and I love you.’ And with Eddie Steve can never be sure, but it's not a far off guess.

God how he loves that dork.

Steve can't believe Eddie flew in from his tour for his birthday.

Still shielding himself from Robin's delicate eyes, Eddie catches Steve's lingering stare and puckers his lips into a kiss, blowing it in Steve's direction while he continues to stand in the doorway with Robin.

Eventually he decides to tune back into her rant.

“- penis, Steve. I'm a lesbian, I shouldn't have to see anyone's dick. And we both know I've seen yours enough as is. Lord knows I can't forget last Halloween and the horror that it truly was. But Eddie's?! I didn't need to know it was pierced, let alone tattooed! Sure you probably would have told me eventually, but come on man, I didn't need to see it.”

It's the mention of such a tattoo that has Steve whipping his head back in Eddie's direction.

Eddie didn't have a tattoo there when he left.

Oh.

Oh.

As Steve catches on and Eddie sends him a wink, mouthing a sly ‘Surprise,’ he has to restrain him from shoving Robin out the door.

“Get out.”

Robin's rambling stops and she looks at Steve deeply offended, “Excuse me.”

He'll make it up to her later, but currently his rockstar boyfriend is laid out naked on their expensive couch with a new tattoo that Steve really feels the deep seeded need to taste, lick from the man's body, or suck from his skin. 

Truly any of the above works.

Robin rolls her eyes and groans, “But Steve-uh, the pizza.”

“I'll order a pizza to your damn apartment, Robby. But I swear to god if you don't leave in the next five seconds you're going to see a whole lot more than just a single dick.”

She scrunches her nose in disgust, “Boo you whore.”

“You know it.” Steve states proudly, “Now out, please. I swear once Eddie's gone we can do a pizza and wine night.”

Robin groans once again, but she does eventually leave with a pinch to Steve's ass and a snarky, “Don't get him pregnant!” sent in Eddie's general direction.

With the click of the door behind him, Steve sheds his clothes clumsily and hops from one foot to the other as he steps out of his jeans, then underwear, on his way to the couch.

With little to no grace he falls into Eddie's arms with a giggle, feeling the press of lips to his forehead and the whispered words of, “Happy Birthday, Baby,” to his skin.

Summary: I've been thinking about these two a lot and wanted to do some headcanons for them. Their codependence is unmatched and I love it!

꩜ Platonic soulmates Steve and Robin, who left the battle at the star court and went to their respective homes wondering if they'd still feel tethered to one another once the dust had settled. Steve walked back to Loch Nora, keyless after the Russians had taken them off of him, and concussed. Robin, riding her bike, still loopy from the truth serum and completely oblivious to the fact that Steve had no way home.

꩜ Platonic soulmates Steve and Robin, who slept deeply that night, exhausted after everything that had happened and unaware that they wouldn't able sleep that deep and restful again for months, maybe even years. Steve was used to it, more or less. He'd had run ins with the Upside down three times by that point and been beaten to shit just as many times. This time, the nightmares were worse.

꩜ Platonic soulmates Steve and Robin, who make it two days before one of them sneaks into the other's bedroom so they can watch each other's backs while they sleep. This becomes a nightly ordeal and quickly gets to the point where they don't even bother trying to sleep alone. After Steve drops Robin off, he parks down the block and either climbs in through her bedroom window, or waits for her to climb out with an overnight bag and a locked bedroom door.

꩜ Platonic soulmates Steve and Robin, who spend every waking moment together until Robin has to go back to school in the fall. When one of them showers, the other is sitting on the bathroom counter with their eyes closed. One of them has to pee? The door stays cracked so they can keep talking. ꩜ Platonic soulmates Steve and Robin, who get separation anxiety when she goes back for her senior year and they're forced to spend 8 hours apart for the first time since Starcourt and the Russians. Robin calls Family Video or Steve's house in between classes to check in from a payphone and Steve waits anxiously for the phone to ring. ꩜ Platonic soulmates Steve and Robin, who eventually manage to survive the distance without a phone call, but starve off panic attacks when they think about it too hard. ꩜ Platonic soulmates Steve and Robin, who lean on one another until they can achieve anything even remotely close to normalcy. They build a routine and branch out, just a little bit. Just enough that Steve is trying to pull chicks again and Robin is crushing on someone at school once their every waking thought wasn't of truth serum or Russian torture. ꩜ Platonic soulmates Steve and Robin, who tell each other everything. Nothing is off limits, although some things drum up sounds of disgust and scrunched up noses. Neither of them has ever had a friend that they were this close to. Someone that you could share every thought with, no matter how strange of deeply personal. ꩜ Platonic soulmates Steve and Robin, who are the worst at being each other's wingmen despite their insistence that they know what they're doing. Not that it matters, over the years, they'll struggle to find, and keep partners that are okay with the two of them being so close. It takes a whole lotta love to be okay with your boyfriend or girlfriends best friend of the opposite sex crawling into bed with you every other night. ꩜ Platonic soulmates Steve and Robin, who would totally have a lavender marriage to appease their parents and have an excuse to live together until they're old and grey, even if that means that they'll never marry for romantic love. They could have their own rooms and their own partners but still want to keep that tie binding them. Still want to be close enough to reach out for when they wake up screaming. ꩜ Platonic soulmates Steve and Robin, who would do literally anything for one another, no matter what.
