is it just me or have fandoms become noticeably and increasingly more miserable like “i'm right and you're wrong” mentality over the stupidest shit and fucked up stalkers over the past couple of years

Fanfics on AO3 are very well tagged these days. You see barely a few authors (mostly amateurs) who don’t tag their works. Most of the time, if there are no tags, then there are summaries and warnings listed in the author notes.

So if you’re reading a well-tagged work and going to comment shit about it, don’t. You know what you’re going to find in there. If it’s not something you like, just leave.

Don’t harass those authors, man. These platforms are just creative outlets to most of them, an escape from their realities. A lot of times, these are the things that keep them going. Don’t be an asshole about it.

Don’t like, don’t engage. It really is that simple.

If you’re really brimming with hate that much, find some other ways to let it out. Idk, maybe smash a plate, pick up a sport, whatever. Just don’t hate on people for doing what they can to keep going while not harming others.

Damn, but the audacity people have here to put others down like that. Yikes.

I can love Best Buddies and Lancegene

I can enjoy them as sisters and as Cassunzel

I like seeing them depicted in every way

One does not exclude the other, every AU can be different

They are fictional characters that can be drawn or written in literally every way, the sky's the limit

And if you don't like something, all you have to do is one mouse click and it vanishes

Nobody is forcing you to look at something that you don't like

Nothing that's done to or with fictional characters will hurt anybody

The only thing that can be hurt are people who get harassed over how they think cartoon characters could interact

Telling someone to "KYS" over fictional characters is still bullying

I have been seeing a lot of posts discussing “why you should not ship XYZ couple” and “why XYZ ship is bad” and “if you ship XYZ you are a bad person,” etc.

Listen, I get it. If you don’t like a ship, you don’t like it. It happens and it’s fine. However, this is a fandom. A unique thing about fandoms is the connection and creation of new ideas from a body of work—and that means that these ideas can be anything! They can be any-damn-thing you want them to be because they are just thoughts that make someone happy! And sometimes these thoughts help in new and exciting things—like self discovery! or like coping with a difficult situation or circumstance! So, if someone wants to ship a couple—they can ship a couple. If someone wants to interpret something in the book/movie/show/source-material in a certain way—they can interpret. Nothing you say or do is going to indefinitely and completely alter someone’s opinions. So, if you don’t like someone’s ideas, art, headcanons, fics, blurbs, etc. that’s fine—just keep scrolling.

Fandoms are inclusive and meant to be a safe space to enjoy things that make one happy. Therefore, just let people be happy in their own little worlds.

I just do not understand how ppl think what you read magically makes you a better or worse person on a moral level. I'd say if you think enjoying dark stories or tropes like enemies to lovers turns you into an evil person that you

1) obviously don't read classic literature (I won't spoil Titas Andronicus for you, apparently ppl who love Shakespeare are terrible ppl)

2) have a very bad understanding of morality.

If all of that were true the entire Hannibal fandom would be a bunch of rabid gentlemen cannibals. But to my knowledge, we are a lovely group of talented ppl, who largely get left alone from naysayers, even though Hannibal literally tries to eat Will. I've never been harassed for being a fannibal or hardcore hannigram. Like we know they aren't healthy, that it's not realistic, that it 'glorifies' an unhealthy relationship if you want to go there. But we all know it's fiction, and we love how fucked up and beautiful it is.

Idk why some ships and fandoms get so much hate online and others don't. But I don't think it has anything to really do with the argument that reading certain taboo things makes you a bad person, because otherwise being a fannibal would be an online death sentence lol. I'm beginning to think it more has to do with some kind of other prejudice against certain types of media or people, I'm not sure what yet. Trying to figure it out.

But just please for the love of all that is good, do the moral thing, and don't harrass people or make them feel bad for the media and fandoms they enjoy to escape for reality? Escapism isn't what makes the world an ugly place.

Rant about my mother

So let's get this off my chest for the day.

First off let me start by saying that my mother doesn't care about me anymore!

It all started with the time when the Disney film Bolt came out and she promised me that she would take me to see it. But she had lied to me and I had to watch it online... And she absolutely hates Disney. From the movies games merchandise

Everything that has to do with the company! Disney has been part of my childhood

Same goes for stuff like Bionicle Super Mario and even Great Wolf Lodge.

I even managed to get away with being a furry even though

My mom doesn't want to support the fandom with enough compassion

And Mercy. She never wanted to take me back to Great Wolf Lodge since 2016.

Plus she hated Undertale and Zootopia. She made me almost leave the Zootopia fandom from all the hate that I got for liking it. It was pretty much my fault for zootopia winning the Oscars 2 years ago. And now that I got a great Wolf Lodge card for Christmas. Now I can go back to Great Wolf Lodge again! Not to mention that she wasn't being nice to me when I got romantically rejected by a girl who liked the same interest as me... Even at Christmas time she told me to piss off!

Now my parents are divorced and now my mother doesn't want to talk to me anymore all because of the man who made Mickey Mouse! And she doesn't want to have a nice dinner with me either. Not even take me out for pizza and donuts because she lives near a pizza place and a donut restaurant! Also she had abused me before hand. That is all for now.
