🇬🇧: What is the #europeanunion planning to do with #copyright ? Will we be able post what we want on the internet without having our copyrights checked by some expensive organisation? If we don’t do anything all the content we want to place has to be checked first. This means the end of open internet and a restriction on freedom of speech •••• 🇳🇱: wat is de #europeseunie nou weer van plan met copyright? ••• #stopthecensorshipmachine #fixcopyright #wearenotfree #wakeup #bloggers #internet

To anyone still not taking Article 13 seriously
I just received THIS mail with this exact message and link from YouTube Creators. If you are indeed not taking this seriously yet... I’m sorry, but it’s time to stop being naive and realize that this law will carry more bad than good. The goal of Article 13 is amazing and definitely a goal we still need to achieve, but like said in the mail, the consequences in this particular law are too high.

6 myths about Article 13
Well, say goodbye to people like me
Say goodbye to anyone in Europe who does fanwork; fanart, fanvideos, fanfiction and anything alike. Say goodbye to your favorite youtubers, let's players and reviewers. Say goodbye people who make parodies, memes and anyone like that.
Scared yet? Well, you should be.
Article 13 just got passed in the European Union and it was a 438 to 226 vote. This is a huge step forward for those who want to filter the internet, stop free speech and for rich companies to get even richer. And a huge step backwards to make people like myself, let's players, reviewers and anyone who has anything remotely to do with something they don't 100% copyright over. This attempt at protecting copyright owners will negatively affect millions of people's lives and there's actual MEPs who DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY'VE VOTED FOR. There was an article on a Swedish politician who literally said: "Oh, was that today?"
No one is talking about this when people should be panicking. If you don't live in Europe and think this won't affect you, think again. First of all, if you enjoy any content from any European anyone, they will be gone. Second of all, do you have any idea how much easier it is to spread this concept to other parts of the world if it's already been done in one place? If this passes AGAIN in January 2019, it WILL affect you, either through taking away things you love or from your internet being the next thing to be filtered.
The head of YouTube, Robert Kyncl, is disappointed and worried about this outcome. If that isn't enough to convince you that people are NOT being dramatic, you are being horribly naive.

By January, it's our last chance. By January the fight will be lost. By January, thousands of YouTubers will be out of a job, thousands of people will lose their favorite hobbies and millions of people will lose something dear to them, #saveyourinternet
