In the eyes of the Autobots, Optimus Prime and Elita seem to have it together and are bastions of leadership, wisdom and strength… but deep in their leaders' mindscapes, it's an entirely different story.
Optimus Prime can see and even talk to the spirits of the old Primes, including the original holder of the Matrix, Nova Prime, the original 13th Prime. In stasis, Optimus can even talk to them... and it's a very creepy experience.
Elita meanwhile can feel as if though past Guardians "speak" through her own body. In stasis, she even sees through their eyes and live their experiences.
A grave concern for both Orion and Aerial is, even if they KNOW who they are and think they're still "just" Orion and Aerial... as Optimus Prime and Elita-1, they just don't know HOW much of their identities in their reformatted forms is either influenced or channeled directly from these ancient figures of the past.
Nova Prime, also known as Nova the Conqueror, was the 13th member of the original Primes, and was the original leader. It was through him that Cybetron as a realm went from one world to several, and helped establish the space bridges for easy travel between each. He never once lost a battle, and there was no monster he couldn't beat. He was an inspirational figure who knew how to rally those to his cause… then one day he simply decided he conquered enough and passed on the Matrix and disappeared without a trace. His abdication shocked the rest of the Primes, and is still a subject of heated debate in the modern age. Some say he abandoned his duty, others say he simply had nothing more to conquer. Regardless, he casts an enormous shadow over all other Primes… including Optimus.
Stormreign was the leader of the Knights of Cybertron, the first iteration of the Cybertronian High Guard, later the Guardians for short. Though she indeed helped defend Cybertron, when Nova wanted a world he wanted to claim for Cybertron, it's her cybertronian boots on the ground smiting foes. Said to be consummate professional, but with a firm hand on keeping her forces focused and disciplined. It was her who began the tradition of passing down her T-cog to future apprentices and heirs, a practice long since forgotten except for, as far as Elita could tell, one. Her own mentor, Leader-1.
