"the finale made me want to get better at writing just so i could do justice to byler" is it a bad time to say that the finale made me want to k1// myself
It felt like they decided early in the plotting process of stranger things that El/Jane was supposed to die, but fumbled the opportunity to do it in a narratively satisfying way, so they introduced suicidal ideation in the form of Kali, a traumatised teenager who has lost any feeling of reality, and El suddenly changes her entire personality from a fighter to somebody who has given up all hope. If they had just shown a little bit of her being tired of having to constantly fight, it would have made remotely sense, but no, they had to introduce a deus ex machina (Kali) because they're bad at writing.
I grieve what the show could have been and was up till season 5.
I am mostly inspired by interviews in the Duffers that are coming out as we speak.
Biggest show on Earth and they had over 3 years to make an 8 episode long finale.
Why 12 kids? Not only does it not matter but the brothers say they literally don’t know and Vecna chose this number arbitrarily
What about the clocks? Hatred towards time? Upside Down being a tunnel through space AND TIME? never mattered. All the emphasis on time in S4 did not mean anything
What’s the significance of November 6th? Read the description for the play. No, explaining the significance of a date we put an emphasis on time and time again is not necessary, you were stupid for thinking it even amounted to something
Vecna and Will both born on March 22nd? Coincidence. But actually not even, because ACTHUALLY Will was born on a completely different day, a production mistake. Picking March 22nd out of 366 days in a year TWICE was an honest mistake.
Never thought I would find myself on the same side off barricade as Bylers, but I really thought they were cooking with birthday gate. Like there was an insane number of evidence actually that did not feel like a reach.
I wish play/gate or conformity/gate was real at this point.
Because I refuse to believe that defeating mind Flayer this other dimensional evil entity was way way easier than defeating Vecna in S4.
Legitimately, the figght against Vecna in S4 had way more stakes, he and army of bats, vines, and demogorgons seemed way more intimidating, characters got quiet moments before the battle to make you feel the stakes, hell it even felt like each character had something to contribute.
And the epilogue of S4 finale (which was longer than the 10-year awaited finale of the series btw) WAS FUCKING HYPE AND SO SINISTER.
Genuinely asking, do you think they completely pivoted from the story they were planning while writing season 5?
Why? Did they realize that with writers on strike they just could not pull this off? Was it a suit decision to make a tonnaly different, by the numbers, open ended season so that they could kind of say they tried to satisfy everyone (failed spectacularly)
If there ever was a show that had the budget and the passion to pull of something insane at the end of its run - that was Stranger Thngs.
I don’t understand. I don’t understand why this series decided to go out without fireworks.
The Duffers seemed passionate about thee series in very interview pre-vol2. but in current interviews they mostly seem relieved that’s its over and mostly answer with: dunno lmao make. Up your own answer :))))
What they said about El’s ending in the screenshot below at least gives me the consolation that I don’t ever have to listen to what they have to say about other characters as well, because that shit is just abysmal
justice for her
