I am so proud of the finished piece. I loved every minute of painting this and executing my idea. The hair was such a huge struggle - it’s the only part that falls short for me but I think the rest makes up for it. It took me a while to figure out what the visible badges on her bag strap were - I had to pause the show a lot and try and make them out. The top one is for cooking and the one below that we only have a partial view of is the camping badge. I wanted to make this as detailed as I possibly could and so I normally would not have bothered with the pattern on her dress but for the sake of accuracy I did my best rendition of it. I went out of my comfort zone a bit with the Creel house in the background since I typically don’t paint architecture but it was important to what ideas I am trying to convey. It isn’t perfect but it came out well enough.
I am so bad at tracking time spent on my paintings but I am pretty sure this one ended up between 45 or 55 hours.
I know Will's probably NOT gonna save Holly himself but I LOVE the concept of him being able to interact/sense her in the Upside Down :(
I cant imagine the amount of RAGE he'd feel wondering what happened to her or what MIGHT happen..
mike wanting holly to join their campaigns but he "was going to wait till [she was] older"... dnd campaigns being repeatedly used to represent their very real and dangerous and traumatising adventures... something about mike wanting to tell holly why him and nancy are distant and keep secrets and leave her alone in that house with their fighting parents but knowing she's too young for it and wanting to protect her from the trauma he wasn't protected from when he was eleven. and in the end he can't help it because circumstances put her in that position anyway. and the best he can do is tell her to be brave.
I don't think we should feel ashamed for having fallen for the best and greatest fan-made theory in the world. That's because this theory only exists due to the clear errors of the Duffer brothers.
THIS… what we all wanted.
