So apparently, with its upcoming season 4, The Gilded Age shaved about 3 or 4 months off its usual about-a-year-and-a-half between seasons. Well, here's lookin' at you, other non-effects-heavy, minimal eps per season period dramas on premium/streaming that have no real reason to take as long as they do to release a new season. 😒

Some of the world’s biggest streaming companies will argue in court on Monday that they shouldn’t have to make CRTC-ordered financial contributions to Canadian content and news. The companies are fighting an order from the federal broadcast regulator that says they must pay five per cent of their annual Canadian revenues to funds devoted to producing Canadian content, including local TV news. The case, which consolidates several appeals by streamers, will be heard by the Federal Court of Appeal in Toronto.

So, on Anthony Garmuglia's latest video, he exposits that the live action Lilo & Stitch was a success was because it was a big box office family movie in a time when there were no other family movies.
The death of the family movies and comedies is what made Lilo & Stitch succeed. Family movies used to be a genre: the bulletproof nanny's and Tooth Fairies in training were what parents would take their kids to see on a weekend.
Now yadda yadda late stage capitalism, but Anthony also mentions how the switch to streaming has almost made family entertainment barren as well. Without scheduled TV and commercial slots there is no need to break down demographics by the hour and day, which allowed shows to get more experimental.
