Dumb MBS cat AU,,,I’ve had this AU for a while but it’s just cause my furry ass likes turning my favorite charas into animals

Reynie: Domestic shorthair, black mackerel tabby. A very common cat (domestic shorthair is the generic name for any mixed shorthair cat) with a very common pattern.

Sticky: Cornish Rex, black smoke. Cornish Rexes have a notably thin layer of fur and have those big, nervous eyes that Sticky was mentioned as having, and I imagine his spectacle-polishing habit translates into obsessively grooming himself.

Kate: Somali, fawn ticked tabby. Somalis are known for being very playful and active (with the nickname of “fox cat”), and her fluffy tail probably looks like her ponytail. She has even BETTER dexterity than a normal cat, down to somehow carrying her bucket around with her tail.

Constance: Domestic longhair, lilac tortie. She’s got tortitude, and has a much rarer pattern than the others as an indication of her rare mind (as well as her blonde hair vs her light brown hair when older). She’s the cobbiest out of the first four members, and the fluffiest. Kate scruffs her instead of the piggyback.

Benedict/Curtain: Persian (specifically the traditional type so they can breathe normally), white. Their sleepiness would probably not be too odd for cats, but the deepness of their sleep is. Also imagine Curtain riding around on a roomba. You’re welcome.

Number Two: Colorpoint Shorthair, red/flame point. She has a cream colored base with darker, eraser-red points.

Milligan: Abyssinian, blue ticked tabby. Somali cats are longhair Abyssinians, and I was going to make him cinnamon (non-dilute fawn), but ultimately decided blue was more common/likely, and made him look less like Kate, but the blue and fawn are part of the same black-based gene regardless.

Tai Li: Burmese kitten, sepia point. Burmese cats are very social and even a bit doglike at times, after all, they do come from the Siamese.

SQ: Maine Coon, probably a tabby of some sort. Big ole paws, and really a friendly boy.

Not sure about Rhonda or McCracken yet, but for Rhonda, I’m thinking maybe some kind of small cat like a Singapura so that it’s easy to mistake her for younger, but at the same time a cat like a Savannah cat would make her look interesting and striking. Meanwhile I’m thinking a Manx for McCracken and I don’t know why.

Autistic headcanons make me so happy sometimes.

I was rereading Harriet the Spy, which was my favorite book as a child, and looking at Harriet herself again, I realized both how many autistic traits she had. She loves routine (and eating the same food every day), sometimes interprets things literally, has a tendency to melt down, and the most obvious, difficulty with apologizing, social skills and empathy. Not to mention her special interest in writing.

I remember how when I was a 5th grader reading the book, I related so much to her, and I cried when I finished the book because I loved it so much. Realizing the reason why it mattered so much to me just feels heartfelt.
