The most important step a man can take is the next one. A paraphrase from Oathbringer, true, but also perfectly describes how I approach my life.

There are always so many things that need doing. You could drive yourself insane trying to figure out how to get it all done. But you can normally identify what needs to be done next, and work on that.

For that reason, I can't stand schedules. They just stress me out. (for others like this, look into the kanban board; they're great).

It's not just tasks for me, though. It's how I approach learning new skills, developing as a person, and even just maintaining my existence.

My philosophy is that as long as I'm doing something to improve, anything, no matter how small, then I'm making progress towards the end of my journey. So long as I just take a tiny, little step further - the next step - I will eventually reach the end of my journey

(where I'm realistic enough to know I will either find a new journey, or move the goal post, but it's progress that matters to me. It's the journey. )

We see a lot of examples of life before death and journey before destination, but I find the examples of strength before weakness a bit more subtle, or easier to gloss over. This one struck me today, from Dalinar's POV:
