Five times the Winter Soldier recites poetry for STRIKE Alpha and one time he gets one back. Chapter 2: STRIKE Alpha is stuck waiting for transport in less than ideal conditions. Now that the team knows the Soldier has hidden storytelling skills, they're going to take advantage of it. Surely, the Asset can recite something to help take their minds off the current dilemma.

amazing what you find letting 8tracks run in the background. This is both the kind of wailing-call/menacing snarl of a drum-beat thing I love, and SO PERFECT for Brock’s state of mind. And certain others...
Hmmmm- I’m looking at snarly, vicious songs for Strike Team Alpha. I’m thinking strongly of pulling in some AC/DC, and wavering between Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap) and If You Want Blood (You Got It) (both Bon Scott versions).
Sunday Six (ish)
It’s been a long time since I’ve had anything new to post for a Sunday Six, but a weird mix of stress and personal angst led me to actually writing 1,000 words yesterday. The best way for me to work out my personal feelings about anything has always been writing. And this week at work I was offered a new position, that would mean leaving my current team and project. Which brings us this.
A Strike Team Alpha fic where Maria Hill faces the same choice.
And since it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, I thought you guys deserved a little longer than six sentences. So here you go.
The Wrong Time
It was the wrong time.
Maria Hill stared at the newly appointed Director of SHIELD in disbelief. She didn’t believe Fury would be offering her this, offering for her to be his right hand man (so to speak). God, he was offering to make her dreams a reality.
But why did he have to do it now?
“Of course you’ll have some time to consider it,” Fury said, “but I will need an answer soon, Agent Hill. I need a new Assistant Director.”
Assistant Director Maria Hill. God, she loved how that sounded, but…”Sir, we’re in the middle of a critical operation,” –the Black Widow Operation, but he knew that. He was the one who had assigned Strike Team Alpha to this case, particularly asked for their expertise. They had been working this case, closing in on the Widow for over two years. They were so close to the end, so close to closing in on the Russian Operative that Maria could taste it. “I can’t leave the team now.”
“And that is your decision to make, Agent, but that is the decision,” Fury said. “I need an Assistant Director now. I would like it to be you. If you choose to stay with your Strike Team, I will respect that dedication and decision, but I will have to choose someone else to be Assistant Director.”
Maria understood. She had understood when he had initially stated the offer. She could either be part of the team that brought down the most wanted woman in the world, or she could be Nick Fury’s right hand woman.
It was an impossible choice.
It was no choice at all.
“You have a week to think about it, Agent,” Fury said.
Maria nodded and managed to say, “Thank you, sir.” And then the video feed cut out, leaving Maria staring at a black screen.
She needed to get back to her team. They were in the middle of a critical op, designed to get them another step closer to the Black Widow. They needed her.
Fury needed her.
God, what was she going to do?
