I'm in a fandom thats died a death this year despite having a canon mlm couple, that are both alive and still together who got engaged and married this year, nearly everyone has moved on. Seeing the lasting nature of Merthur is inspiring but also super painful to see. Idk what this ask is, I just can't believe a fandom based on a non canon couple whose show finished around 10 years ago is still so active whilst this 2 year old fandom is already dead whilst the couple carries on. It's bizarre.

yeah we're so fortunate that the merlin fandom is going strong after a decade! interesting how these two fandoms are such opposites

your message got me thinking, maybe it's because of the bitter ending that we can't let go and since your ship is doing so well getting married and stuff, people feel easy about leaving, knowing their faves have a happy ending. and we're here waiting with merlin for an eternity! hah

personally i was really surprised when i saw other fandoms flicker to life then disband after a year. the way i watch/read stories is i come back to them again and again & i find happiness in seeing the same thing in a new light which keeps me hooked.
