"At least we're getting richer"
Anti-Shell subvertising in the London Tube
how can i take my degree and make it about attack on titan?
i study criminology (and psychology) and something i'm really interested in is subvertising, which is the practice of making parody advertisments targeting companies or political entities!
now i'm wondering, would this practice take place on paradis? i'm thinking the public discontent with the survey corps pre return of shiganshina must have sparked some sort of reaction??
"dedicate your hearts to humanity" being twisted into some sort of statement pointing out how so many people seem to die in vain?
Subvertising. It’s a thing.
Call them guerrilla art installations if it makes you feel better about it.

Brandalism: "the industry relies on manipulation ranging from the subtle to the overt, convincing us that we won’t be happy until we make more money in order to purchase all of this stuff. It’s not about catering to our needs, it’s about creating new desires.
The fight against advertising is not a fight against desiring. We should want more from life not less, and we should demand it. The question is more of what? This exhibition is about trying to open up questions about the ills created by advertising, the false needs and destructive desires it attempts to distill in us, and it is about trying to reclaim some of the spaces taken from us"
(2014 Brandalism: Replacing Bus Shelter Ads with Art in the UK - WebUrbanist)
A new poster I designed about Shell's attitude towards the climate crisis has made its way onto hundreds of billboards, bus stops and tube carriages around the UK ahead of the Shell shareholders AGM next week.
It's part of a campaign organised by Brandalism and featuring work by several different artists. Massive thanks to all the tireless install teams who put these up! Will post more photos on my website: https://www.spellingmistakescostlives.com/single-post/shell-agm
