The crested area is getting bigger and bigger. Rapid development and abnormal cells make for fast and rather unpredictable growth, which doesn't harm the plant whatsoever.

If I'm honest with the 3 people that actually read my posts - It makes me wonder about the comparisons of cell mutation in plants and cancer cell growth in mammals. I might have to do a bit more research about this subject before I'll be able to further theorise.

Feel free to read one of my earlier posts where I explain what crested succulents are and why they are so rare. In cultivation, it is popular amongst succulent collectors to propagate from the crested area to produce more genetically identicial plants and in return sell them for much more than they would the normal growing plant. The same goes for variegated plants, but we'll discuss that later.
