WIP Wednesday Thursday

i was tagged by @frankenstein-ate-my-left-shoe (thank you!) to share something from my WIP pile. i missed wednesday, so we're doing a lil wip thursday moment! good way to start off wip weekend

pulled this from the songfic i started last month that i didn't finish in time, but this idea is still kicking strong. *smacks keyboard* got ideas for these bad boys

Billy jumps up yelling, hands wiping down his dampened face and hair. Somewhere behind him, the bartender laughs, calls out for security. Steve’s eyes widen as he slowly disentangles himself from the scene, taking several measured steps back. That’s when he tunes in to whoever threw the water. A mess of wild black hair and dusty leather stands back to him facing Billy. “The fuck is wrong with you, Billy? I go to the bathroom for two minutes and you’re fucking having a shot with some asshole pretty boy?” Steve bristles. “Hey, I’m not an asshole, man. I was just sitting here.”  The leather whips around, angry brown eyes narrowing at Steve for half a second before blowing wide. He stammers out, “Coulda fuckin’ fooled me, man, taking drinks with my boyfriend.” Steve gulps, brain short circuiting at how beautiful this person is. He blinks, watches the leather eye him slowly up and down, a similar look to Steve’s own plastered on his gorgeous face.  “I was just trying to close my tab and leave after my boyfriend stormed out.” Steve gestures at Billy, who’s fucking laughing, arms crossed across his chest, water droplets splattered across his white t-shirt. “Your boyfriend slid up and bought me a drink that I didn’t even want – that I was rejecting when you walked up, actually.” The bartender slides up then, gesturing at them as a few security guards walk over. “He’s right, Eddie. Billy bought two tequilas to split with…” They look over, mind going blank as they stare at– “Steve. My name’s Steve. And I’m leaving.” Steve shakes his head, pushes past a laughing Billy, a stunned Eddie, and several nosy bar-goers.

🌻 : Untitled (side fic in the Wildflowers universe; steve and el sibling focused; meant to be fluff, some light angst maybe idk; started here)

🎬 : Untitled Robin Fic (this is in the same world as this fic, but like just barely post s4, so well before that fic; robin tries to help make eddie feel better; vecna may or may not still exist; things might happen; wrote a lot but kind of abandoned it when inspiration dwindled)

Steve enlists her one day to come to Eddie’s with something to help distract the latter, to help bring him some joy.

“Literally, I do not care what you bring over at this point, Robs. He’s–” Steve sighs into the receiver, and Robin feels a pang in her chest.

“Bad day, huh?”

Steve scoffs. “Yeah.” A few silent moments pass, the static of the line scrambling her brain. “They’re all, uh, all–”

“I know.” Robin whispers, closing her eyes and thunking her head back against her headboard. Her heart aches knowing Eddie's dealing with, arguably, one of the worst set of injuries of the lot of them. It’s only been a few weeks, the most of them on mediocre paths to recovery, if not fully recovered. Yet, Eddie still is laid out in bed, thankfully his own at this point, without a clear end date to his recovery. She hates seeing him drained of his usual gusto, more reserved these days, more quiet. They hadn’t even really been close before spring break, but it still fucking hurts because now he's one of them. One of the few who really knows how fucked up this world, and others, could actually be. One of the few who feels that. 

“Robs?”

She blinks, rights herself. “Yeah, Steve?”

“I asked if you could be here soon. Say, hour or so?”

Robin looks at the clock on her desk. 1:47 PM. She gnaws at her thumbnail for a moment. “Yeah, hour. You got food?”

“Plenty. Joyce is on dinner duty tonight, so we’re set.” Steve laughs quietly. 

“Oh, thank fuck. I love you, but your cooking has been shit lately.”

“Hey! I’ll have you know–”

“Bye, dingus!” Robin slams the phone into the receiver, swinging her feet off the bed to hurriedly get dressed. She has a deadline and a plan – a plan to make one Eddie Munson smile again, dammit.

an expansion in this universe! have some chaos, plus a lil extra bc i didn't want to break this part up <3 steve be goin through it, sorry

Steve comes to with some-timeline-version-of-Dustin shaking him, seemingly yelling in his face, or at least that’s what Steve assumes is happening, because fuck if he can’t hear anything right now. His head feels heavier than any of the other trips, like the cinder blocks have migrated from crushing his chest to damn near obliterating his skull. His ears feel like they’re stuffed full with thick cotton, near obscuring his ability to hear anything apart from the pounding radiating through his skull. 

He blinks, the some-timeline-version-of-Dustin swaying uneasily in his swimming vision. Steve thinks he groans, or at least he feels a groan in his chest, as a wave of nausea overtakes him, everything too dizzy and too heavy and too bright and just too. He closes his eyes, somewhat wishing the cotton feeling in his ears was also covering his eyes. 

He thinks he should be more panicked about not being able to hear, but he simply does not give a fuck right now. All he cares about is getting the nausea and the pounding to stop.

🌻 I'm a sucker for El and Steve (or Eddie)

HI thank you for asking about this story!! i can go on for days about steddie, but i'm currently loving the steve and el sibling relationship <3 so enjoy some of them! (def more than 3 lines but it's necessary okay) these are the same characters from this story ~

“Steve, what is a birthday?”

Steve stops, spatula mid-pancake flip in one hand, pan handle gripped tightly in the other. He turns, eyes wide as he gazes at El across the counter. “What?”

El avoids his gaze, locks her eyes on the pancake flopping uselessly across his spatula. Her voice lowers ever so slightly as she responds. “What is a birthday? Why are they so important?”

“C’mon, Eddie! The kids are waiting and we’re losing daylight.” Steve yells up the stairs of their townhouse as he slips on his shoes. He swipes through their bags quickly to make sure they’re not missing anything before making his way to the kitchen to collect their cooler. Nothing is worse than a gaggle of hungry kids.

But, it seems that the some-timeline-version-of-Dustin has other goddamn ideas, if the way Steve’s body is continuously being shaken is any indicator, on top of the vibrations of yelling coursing through his aching body.

Steve laughs, places a kiss against Eddie’s cheek before pulling away. “If you’re in the car in the next,” he glances at his watch, “two minutes, then I promise you a very,” he squeezes Eddie’s waist, “very good night.”

At that, Steve grabs the cooler and bags and heads out to the car. He’s not even done loading everything into the trunk when he hears the telltale sounds of Eddie barreling down the sidewalk toward him.
