Luis Álvarez Catalá (Spanish, 1836–1901) Sunday Outing, 1868
The past few days have been super eventful!
I took baby g to my friend (work friend who turned into real friend) baby shower on Saturday late morning. She's expecting a girl in a month. It has been a big year for her - job promotion in last fall, got pregnant at the beginning of this year, then purchased home with her husband in the spring, and moved in to their new place in late summer. I was really happy for her!!! She's a fighter and she is definitely enjoying the fruit of her hard work. Going out with baby g by myself was not as terrible as I thought. He was well behaved in the car ride. I guess it will be a while before he could scream at the back of the car asking "are we there yet?"
Then we had our cellgroup meeting on that afternoon followed by dinner. The cellgroup leader said that only 102 days left for 2014 and asked us (without telling the group) where we were with our NY resolution. It was not encouraging at the first place(I pretty much forgot my NY resolution until I looked at the piece of paper I had); it also reminded me that I had approximately 100 days left in my maternity leave for me to 1) bond with baby g and 2) lose my busy season weight.
The thought of having less 100 days did not sit me too well - I seriously stopped putting junk food into my mouth since then. *sniff sniff*
Sunday was our typical church Sunday; but a late lunch did set us back a little bit so we did not get home until like almost 4 PM. ugh.
Monday I tried to keep it "easy". So hubby and I took baby g with us for lunch at Fresh Choice and then we stopped by Home Depot and Bed Bath and Beyond for some quick errands. He picked up a drill at Home Depot while I picked up a couple of curtain rods at BBB (that we will use as the doors for our closet). Our place is still messy - there are still plenty of unopened boxes that we all need to sort out and toss out. ugh - how much stuff do we really need?
In the late afternoon, my youngest sis and I made a quick trip to Costco to get some grocery. I don't shop at Costco often (my hubby and I could only eat that much food and store that much grocery in our 1-bedroom apartment back then). So I was like a kid in a candy store - even though I only set to get a few items we still ended up spending $170 on foods and beverages (!).
So today we visited my cousin K and his wife D along with some of the grocery we got from Costco and some soup from my mom. They just had a son last Thursday! Their son was adorable :) Seeing them reminded me the first week when we had baby g - even though it was only 7 weeks ago somehow I feel like it has been a long long time ago.
Now I just hope to take it easy and slow in the next few days so that I could prepare myself for another weekend :D
Sunday Outing
Last weekend (it was Saturday afternoon), I, my sister and mum went to mum's friend which was an hour drive away. I was supposed to go with my sister and my mum's friend son to a house party but I didn't go with them because y'know I'm anti-social. (haha!, well sometimes).
Anyway, we stayed there for a night and next day (which was Sunday - mum missed the church), I and my sis drove to Carlyon Beach which was a 30-mins drive. Yup! we drove separately, my mum, mum's friend and one (a 6 years old) of his three sons' was with me. My sis' was with the other two sons (21 and 5 y/o).
As soon as we saw the beach, my mum was like "parang nasa Boracay tayo". Yes it does look like I was back home but minus the sand.
It was more like a pebbles, crystal-looking sands which apparently came from the clay pit nearby.
We walked to see the rocks.
If I had a spare clothes with me I would have swam but then it was too cold to bear. But it was a good spot to snorkel, there were two guys snorkelling at that time.
The water rise just before high tide (4pm) and we had to go back. By the time we got back the shore was almost close to the rocks that you can see on the second picture.
As we headed, my sandals and drink bottle was missing and luckily, I saw the drink caught in the sea weeds and a I saw both pairs of my sandals. Otherwise, I'd be walking with bare foot, oh and drive too. If only you saw my facial expression, I was like "OMG, where are my sandals!".
Before we went home we gave them a lift back to their home. Thankfully, it was a nice sunny weather, downside was when I almost felt sick driving due to heat. Anyway, another great weekend. ;)
baby g finally pooped on sunday....after sunday service when we were having the farewell lunch for pastor j. and he pooped SO much!!!!!
once i set him at the changing table, i waited a minute before i unwrapped the diaper. as i cleaned his bottom, he pooped more!!! so i waited for another minute until he finished. then i continued my cleaning...and he started to pee...HA! finally i was able to give him a clean diaper. but once i put a clean diaper on him, he started pooping AGAIN!!!!. so i was like - FINE. i changed his outfit. then changed his diaper again. it was a long process. but i was happy to see him poop - and now i understand the feeling when other parents saying how they are relived/happy when they see their children finally poop/pee.
we had a long day on Sunday and baby g handled really well. we were out from 10:30 til like 7 something at the evening. after the sunday service and farewell lunch, we made a stop at our wedding photographer to drop off a harddisk to get the original footage. (yes, it took us years to finally pick up our wedding video. it's not his fault - it was our fault :T ) then we spent some time at ikea to check out shoes storage solution and curtain options. then we had an early dinner at hotaru in san mateo. it has been a long time since our last visit! even though it was supposedly to be a light early dinner but i just went all out and got us like 3 rolls plus a sashimi platter and vegetable tempura. baby g was well behaved - no buzz no fuzz! so i guess...another great success on our 2nd Sunday outing!
success for our first outting!
This morning we headed to church for sunday service and had lunch with our friend. baby g was great. he was fine at the church. he was not afraid when people came up to meet with him while he was in the car seat.
he was manageable during our lunch as well..even though he pooped. so i changed his diaper once i finished my meal. i took him to the front seat of our car and it was challenging because the seat was a bit tiled (the restaurant did not have changing table in its restroom) and baby g was sliding on the surface...(!)
guess i need to go out more often so that i could practice changing diapers at challenging surfaces... :P
Sunday Outing
Yesterday afternoon, after mum got home from church (I didn't attend because I was tired from the day before walking and driving), my mum invited us to go with her and dad to check the site he'll be working for the first month of September.
We went to Coverack Beach it's like half an hour drive. I think. I don't know, but it felt like a very very long drive and I wasn't feeling well throughout the journey because I was feeling sick. I ended up vomiting the food I ate before we left but we got there fine.
Anyway, I and my sister sat and waited at the bench for my dad and mum to come back after checking out the new site. But because they were taking too long, I and my sis went ahead and took pictures and draw stuff on the sand.
Few hours later, my mum came and join us while my dad still at the site talking to the home owner. It was a nice sunny day but it was gloomy probably around 4-ish. It didn't rain though which was good.
My sister and mama dear's sexy back. Go sexy, go sexy, go sexy sexy loves ~
And...this is me with my awkward pose.
Because it was a sudden invite, I had no time to find a decent clothes to wear and I was not planning to go anywhere out. In such a rush, I just grab an oversized super-dry top and tucked it in my jeans pocket with my flip flops. Haha!
It was a fun afternoon with family and it has been too long since my sister joined us for a family out. So it was extra fun too! Next year summer, we will come back and swim in this beach because the water was so calm and the beach reminds me of the beach back home in the Philippines.
