The Magical Properties of 🌻Sunflowers 🌻 Sunflowers originated in South and Central America, spreading around the world in the 1500s with the Spanish conquistadors as they migrated to Europe. Not only were they traditionally used to make yellow and orange fabric dye by Indigenous American people and colonists, but medicinally they are believed to have antimalarial properties and some believe the seeds help prevent the spread of smallpox. Sunflowers, as the name suggests are associated with the sun and solar deities such as Apollo. In folk magic they are said to bring luck and planting them around your home will bring good fortune. They’re also viewed as symbols of honesty, loyalty, and fertility. If you want the truth about a situation, sleep with a sunflower under your pillow. Some magic traditions suggest that slipping their seeds into someone’s food or drink will cause them to be loyal to you. Taking a ritual bath with sunflower petals and/or eating their seeds is supposed to aide in conception. In 17th century Europe people would create an ointment with sunflower and other flower petals to help them see faerie folk. 🧚♀️ Of course, these are only a few ways they can be utilized in magic. 🌻What do you use sunflowers for?🌻
