Allthough Macden sadly wasn't canon. The episode was so Dennis centric, it was all about him and that was definiely and analogy for something. He eventually gave up doing something unhappily for no real reason in favour of happiness at the end. Something that Mac had allready come to terms with and was having fun. Why did they choose that as the finale? I think there are reasons.

Sunny is most likely not over for 2 seasons yet.
