#TuesdayTunes It’s been storming a lot in Houston, recently. This kind of weather is perfect to chill to with some coffee and a good book while at home. I know many are tired of staying at home due to the pandemic, but for me, I haven’t gotten to experience that much. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been working a lot, lately. The thought of spending a few days at home without having anywhere to go, be able to write, play a video game, or even just take my recently-purchased online course sounds so amazing. What better way to do that than with some relaxing music? Thank you, Yiruma, for finally releasing the full EP for “Room With a View.“ Throughout the month, he unveiled the two out of five musical pieces from the album: “Room With A View” and “Sunset Bird,” the title track. If piano medleys are your favorite, too, check out his album and comment below which is your favorite piece of the EP. Mine’s "Yellow Room (Prelude),” the last piece of the EP.

Pianist Yiruma has blessed us with another new piece, titled “Sunset Bird” from his upcoming EP, “Room With A View,” set to release on May 22 through Universal Music Group.
The upcoming EP will contain five tracks, all of which are inspired by the Spring season. In contrast to his previous work where he captures feelings from relationships, the 42-year-old pianist commented that his newest music comes “from a personal point of view” and sharing feelings from “time spent alone: the comfortable feelings that familiar spaces give.”
At a time when we stay at home more than ever to slow the spread of COVID-19, we grow desperate and anxious to go outside and long to be back to our own rhythm. We are tired of seeing the same place all day, every day, that we forget to focus on the little things—we forget to be present.
“I hope my music becomes the music to your familiar things, the very small things that comfort you.” - Yiruma
Music is such a powerful thing. Personally, I tend to associate a song with a person, a place or a time in my life. When I go back to listen to a certain song after much time has passed, I am able to tap into the feelings that a certain melody once brought. Even if the song might be associated with a bad memory, I find some comfort in it, for it helped me get through whatever I was going through.
In these unprecedented times, we must remember to take care of ourselves and our mental health. Things will be back to normal soon, and we won’t have the time to treat ourselves like we have now. This time should be appreciated and we must try to make good memories whether we live alone, with friends or family, or with a loving pet.
Stay well and healthy, everyone.
