A Morte do Superman
Superman: Doomsday🎬 2007
Here are some Supergirl icons from Death and Return of Superman and Superman Doomsday.

"Who's your daddy?" Imagine if Clancy Brown was voicing Lex in this movie and said this line!
The titular character fight in Superman: Doomsday is one of the best brawls I've seen in cinema.
The momentum swings so many times at unexpected moments. Superman has Doomsday on the ropes, executes a ten-punch combo, but somewhere between punch five and nine, Doomsday interrupts him. Doomsday beats Superman into the ground, turns to go kill someone else, and you think we're going to cut back to Superman pushing himself up, but no, Superman is ALREADY up and hitting Doomsday. They're both terrifying, and it's great.
... So among the many fucked up threads between takes on Clex, there's one about Lex Luthor literally wanting to be Superman's father. And I do mean *literally*.
Like, travels back in time and attempts romancing his mother literally. Oh Silver Age and its fetish material.
Yet I must note there's no attraction to Lara here at all (which is just kind of worth noting as Silver Age isn't above some shaky comphet attractions)... No, it's all about becoming someone with a position of power over Superman.
Then we also get this beat in the beginning of the 2023 Superman run.
You can also read this into the creation of Conner and Lex as a gene donor, since Conner wasn't meant to be a son but a replacement Superman. What's worse than baby trapping? How about trying to recreate the man you loathe-love in a way that fulfills your nascent daddy kink?
Edit: Speaking of, Bizarro has also really been re-adapted as a creation of Luthor's when that wasn't in his original conception. Post Crisis comics have it, Superman the Animated series has it, and you can kind of count Superman 2025 as this even though he's not really called Bizarro he still kind of borrows that.
Which also brings us to the glorious "Who's Your Daddy?" scene from Superman Doomsday. Who is also in the mold of "Lex makes a Superman clone."
Also maybe something something about how with Lionel becoming a part of Lex's origin, there's a potential thread to grasp of Lex associating a paternal presence with power over someone.
My boyfriend arch nemesis died by someone else's hand. There's only one thing I can do, bring him back to life.
Not to worry though, I have my red sun room and kryptonite gloves should anything go wrong– wait why did you shut the door? Is that the floor moving??
Now onto Superman: Doomsday
hey so. im watching the Superman Doomsday movie from like, 2006 or smth, and jesus christ they got away with a lot here huh. like yeah i expected mass murder from Doomsday, but the Toyman's death?? the scream i scrumpt when that happened. also that scene with Lex and the clone in the rumpus room??? crazy shit to put in a semi-canonical movie.
