I don't care how old someone is when they learn a new skill, I want to encourage them.
Learning to draw? Learning to read? Learning to swim? Learning to ride a bike? That's awesome, and I'm proud of you.
There is no age limit on learning. There is nothing shameful or embarrassing about learning.
I learned to ride a bike way later than most kids. I was really self-conscious about it, and I panicked and lied about it when a friend told me they saw me. But there was NOTHING WRONG with it.
I know someone much older than me who feels too ashamed to learn to swim now for the same reason.
Are these things stereotypically things young children learn? Yes. But that doesn't mean ONLY young children can learn it. There is nothing wrong learning it later in life.
Let's advocate for more learning opportunities & be supportive of people who are trying to change their life for the better.
