A New Modern!Au Consumes My Brain

So, after a long day at work, I'm in a "post about an SWR au" mood. So here's the au that no one (except @accidental-spice) asked for--

The College Au! Also known as the crossover event of the century, or at least the week. For you see, it has not only SWR and TCW characters in it, but LOK, KOTLC and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The amount of content on the last three fandoms will vary, depending on if anyone wants to hear about those. Mostly, I'm here to post about Kanera.

As usual. So let's get started with the basics:

-Hera Syndulla is a new student in Capital City University, here to study and make a few friends. Absolutely NO time for romance in this woman's mind. Her parents are disapproving enough of her career choice-- pilot-- and the last thing she needs is to give them something else to complain about

-Kanan Jarrus left home when he was young and hasn't been back since. He's currently working at least five different part-time jobs, two of which are for his favorite boss, Okadiah Garson, an older man who owns a bar, a diner called Penny Lane, and also works as a professor at Capital City U

-(we'll get more into what his class is and isn't later, I promise it'll be fun)

-He's in his twenties and very definitely not a college student. However, the amount of time he spends on campus would suggest evidence to the contrary.

-Kanan maybe, perhaps, slightly, sneaks into a few classes. Mainly Okadiah's, because it's interesting (I SWEAR it's getting it's own post)

-Anyways, he's on campus one day when he hears it. It's just an off-hand comment, someone talking to a friend or something. It's the voice that catches his attention-- smooth as satin, warm as hot chocolate, rich as molasses

-Kanan instantly turns around to see if he can find the source of the voice, but any sign is quickly swallowed by the crowd of students moving to their next class

-(he looks for a solid twenty, thirty minutes anyways, because it's Kanan come on what were you expecting?)

-But eventually he gets going

-Fast forward to the next day, Kanan's working a morning shift at Penny Lane-- a lot of students have breakfast there some days. He's going about his business, when he hears the voice again.

-He looks around, spots Hera with her roommate, and promptly runs into one of the other servers. Plates and meals. Fly. Everywhere.

-This, along with the chewing out he gets from his manager, does not stop Kanan from convincing one of his coworkers to let him serve Hera

-(does he pay them fifty bucks? Perhaps, perhaps not. But probably)

-And so he goes up to Hera to be his charming self (A New Dawn style, alas for him)

-This does not go well for him. Hera, in her polite, dry way, shoots him down at every turn. But she won't lie, she's mildly intrigued by this surprisingly smart, handsome server who thinks he's very charming. And it only gets more intriguing the next few times she bumps into him

-After their first encounter, she sees him at one of his other jobs at a grocery store, then in Okadiah's class. He manages to catch her for a few moments of conversation both times, playing Mr. Charmer as always. Hera allows it. She's busy trying to figure him out anyways-- how he can be flippant and dry-humored one moment, then surprisingly kind the next. She sees pretty good examples of this during Okadiah's class. And it interests her

-So she decided to befriend Kanan Jarrus, and see what happens. Although it definitely won't go the way he wants it to-- she's far too busy for any kind of romance

How the Ghost crew react to Kanan having cat allergies

This is based off of a headcanon where Kanan is allergic to cats of any kind. Let's see how the other rebels handle this information for the first time.

Hera:

She will immediately start searching for the source of his allergic reactions.

Once she does, she's actually surprised that it's the loth-cats that are causing it.

After hustling Kanan into the Ghost, she'll get Ezra and Zeb to go and get medicine.

She and Sabine then proceed to clean and disinfect the ghost in case there's any cat fur anywhere.

Hera will also constantly check up on Kanan to make sure that his allergies have cleared up once he got back inside.

Ezra:

"Woah! I didn't know Kanan was allergic to loth-cats!"

Ezra will stay away from Kanan for a while, due to how loth cats seem to be attracted to him.

At first, Ezra thought it was seasonal allergies.

Until he saw that Kanan's eyes were bloodshot, and he actually looked like he was recovering from the flu.

Is tasked with getting medicine with Zeb.

He keeps a close eye on Chopper however, knowing that the droid likes to pull pranks on the guys a lot.

If he sees that Chopper is trying to lure a loth-cat on board, he will instantly take it back outside far away from the ship.

Sabine:

The first time Kanan showed signs of an allergic reaction, she thought he was catching a cold.

That is until a loth cat came over and he immediately started sneezing like crazy.

Sabine coaxes the cat away before she contacts Hera, who has Kanan go back inside the Ghost.

After Ezra and Zeb left for medicine, she breaks out the cleaning supplies and disinfectants.

She may or may not quarantined Kanan in his room for extra measure in case his allergies start acting up again.

Once that's done, she and Hera began scrubbing the ghost inside and out.

Zeb:

Zeb pretty much knew of Kanan's allergies the first time they were on Lothal.

He noticed when Kanan started avoiding specific areas where Loth-cats have most likely been.

At first he thought that the allergies would go away.

Though they just got worse as the days went by.

He and Ezra went and bought medicine for Kanan.

Unfortunately, they almost got spotted by Stormtroopers in the process.

They narrowly escaped being caught, due to stealing a speeder bike.

Once they got back, the smell of disinfectant hits him and Ezra in the face.

No doubt the girls were busy while they were away.

Chopper:

Oh boy. Chopper found the whole ordeal hilarious.

He saw how Kanan's eyes started tearing up and when he started sneezing.

He didn't quite understand the seriousness of the situation.

Or why everyone was making such a big deal out of it.

He is instructed to not disturb Kanan while he's going through one of his allergy episodes.

So Chopper spends time outside where he catches sight of a couple of loth-cats.

He tried to bring one inside, but was ultimately stopped by Ezra.

This results in Ezra getting shocked.

He stayed away from Hera and Sabine when they started their cleaning frenzy to rid the ghost of any possible cat dander or fur that can trigger Kanan's allergies.

Another College Au Post, This One Involving Okadiah's Crazy Class

WHAT DO YOU MEAN I'VE POSTED 200 TIMES??? THAT'S IMPOSSI-- oh. Riiiiiiiiiiiight, I forgot about reblogs. Yeah, that's very possible.

Anyways, College!au time!!!

-Okadiah teaches a finance class in Capital City University. It's one of the favorite classes in the entire school-- it's extremely rare for someone to fail this class, and it's taught by Okadiah, who everyone kinda loves.

-However, there's one small detail about this class that makes it rather unique.

-While Okadiah does teach the curriculum, he does this by giving his students what they need to pass in ten minute segments every class, then spends the rest of the time giving them life advice

-The life it advice varies, from how to write things off with your taxes to cooking cheap, simple but nutritious meals to love life advice

-Cause Okadiah figures they're college students, and someone needs to help them with this kind of thing. He still makes sure they learn enough about finance to get through life, but also. Plenty of life hacks and advice

-This class is also unusual in the way that it's not just students being talked at, it's them interacting with the teacher and each other. it's very give and take. Okadiah's probably even learned stuff from this class

-Now Kanan isn't a student at Capital City U. However, back when he first started working for Okadiah, his boss invited him to a class as his "personal guest". And Kanan was skeptical, but figured that he may as well stay in his boss's good books. So he went to a class. And found himself coming back, again and again

-By the time Hera arrives, Kanan is one of the top contributors in Okadiah's class. Plenty of it is sarcasm, but there's more that isn't

-And that's one of the first ways that Kanan surprises Hera, in how he's always trying to help the other kids in that class, most of whom are younger than him by a few years

-(this does not surprise us, or Okadiah, because we know that Kanan is a natural dad. Nor does it surprise Okadiah when Kanan gives advice to people while he's working shifts at the bar. This starts regularly happening, and Kanan barely even notices)

-But one day (in Hera's first year of college) Okadiah gets sick. Not sick enough to be concerning, but sick enough that he won't be able to teach class

-So he calls Kanan and tells him he won't be at work that day, and Kanan connects the "he won't be able to teach class" dots. So what does he do?

-Well, with the help of Hera and Ahsoka (who of course is a fellow student and my next post will be about her and other fellow students of Hera's) he gets himself a disguise and goes to teach the class

-I'm not saying the disguise is glasses and a manbun. Buuuuuuuuuut it probably is

-Everyone knows it's him, despite his fake name, Caleb Dume. (and yes I do think I'm hilarious). But he teaches the class almost as well as Okadiah, so they don't say anything

-And that's the story of how Kanan started to commit fraud, and also caught the attention of some students who were not a fan of said activities
