This is the second large bastard to be caught in my bird pen netting in the last week. I could hear him struggling from all the way across the yard, so I went and found a ladder and freed him. Snapped a couple quick shots and released him back outside. May he have much successful hunting of more obnoxious bugs. And stay out of my damn pens.
sometimes I see people say “did you know pretty dragonflies come from horrifying aquatic monsters with xenomorph jaws?” even though both life stages are ferociously predatory
and the larvae are just dumb lil water cats
(Swamp Darner naiad, Epiaeschna heros)
Swamp darner. A first for me.
Swamp darner (Epiaeschna heros)- big green bastard, the Shrek of dragonflies
Big. This bug. It is big.
