big fan of swap aus where the characters are swapped with ones you wouldn’t expect but it’s not random and still makes sense

like instead of swapping sans and papyrus swap papyrus and undyne or sum idk.

Instead of jax and ragatha or pomni swap jax with gangle or Zooble yknow

I think it’s really fun when people make less obvious swap choices than the most in-your-face options. I think it’s way more fun. Anyways on a completely unrelated note I’m making a South Park au

Ok so…I’ve been working on a swap aus for the shows

And currently making one for eass.

Would people prefer I just switch Saturn and eclipses roles or I have different people as them.

Saturn would be replaced with one of her sisters and I’m not too sure about eclipse just yet but we’ll see.

Just had a horrible realisation that this whole time, since 2016, my comprehension of AUs in fandoms have been seen through an Undertale AU lense.

Underswap:

Underswap swaps characters in a pair

Ex (alphys and undyne)

Storyshift:

Swaps a pair of characters with another pair of characters that have something in common they do not exchange roles

Ex (alphys and undyne as napstablook and mettaton but these two are Asriel and chara)

Swapswap:

Swapswap swaps swapped characters in a pair

Altertale:

Soriel that’s it

Ex (undyne and alphys stay the same)

Storyspin:

They take the role of the character that had their role in Storyshift

Ex (undyne and alphys are toriel and asgore)

Otherswap:

Same thing as in underswap but the other pairings

Ex (undyne and alphys swap with papyrus and sans)

of course it isn't a one too one, due to multiple aspects such as viewer vs character voting (and the writing in general)

However the arcs due strike a resemblance to each other

A alliance which has:

A "asshole"(not aggressively a asshole in pencil's case but still) who gets off scot free due to their established role(pencil being the leader, nickel having ties with baseball)(by asshole I mean like a character who just turns into a worse person during the arc)

An enabler whose too emotionally connected to the asshole to criticize them and ends up acting like them/in support of them (match and baseball)

A character who enjoyed being in the alliance at some point but decided to stand up for themselves/a friend (bubble and suitcase)

A character who has a negative relationship with the asshole and the enabler (supporting the "3rd good og member character") (I personally give this role to fanny, because ice cube represents a whole different aspect of the freesmarts arc yada... but for sake of argument you could say Balloon is if Fanny and Ice Cube mixed and were less negative/vengeful)

Of course with the alliance/freesmarts you have more members and more dynamics etc.

and the writing in the later in the show isn't a one too one yada yada

I know salt and pepper have a kind of similar thing on a surface level to match and Pencil, but they've got one key difference

Through all of II Pepper and Salt mostly have themselves

whilst Pencil and Match have a full ASS alliance which ALWAYS included bubble from the default

(ps not directed at ANYONE who has made match and pencil salt and pepper in their au! this is just a personally opinion I have due to the fact I really love the alliance in bfdi and pour a lot into analizyng them, it's just a personal ick lol)
