PROTECTING YOUR SUITS FROM CHLORINE!! I've had suits that last years and some barely a season. The best way to increase the longevity of your suits are to wash them after each use! Basics... I know but as every #swimparent knows that is ridiculously hard. I am lucky if my son will take his wet suits out of his swim bag! 🤢🤢🤢 If you haven't the time... rinsing with cold water after every practice will at least help remove some of the chlorine. Some suits can be machine washed though that process can actually speed up the deterioration of the fabric, color and elastic. 🏊🏽♀️🏊♂️🏊🏻♀️🏊🏿♂️🏊🏻♀️ It is best to just hand wash with cold water after each practice and at least once a week with a suit cleaner. There are some really effective brands available at swim shops and amazon. But I found that home-made was just as effective. Here are two options. 💙💙💙💙💙 HANDSOAP- 1 tsp of mild liquid hand soap in a sink full of water. Soak for 15 minutes. Then gently handwash and rinse. OR.... BAKING SODA- Fill sink with cold water and add 1/4 cup of baking soda. Soak suit for 15 minutes and rinse. 🏊🏿♂️🏊♂️🏊🏻♀️🏊🏽♀️🏊🏻♀️ Unlike machine detergent swimsuit cleaners are gentle and won't degrade the suit fabric. #swimmom #diaryofaswimmom #usaswimming #swimmers #swimmerlife #swimmomwisdom #coachescorner #swimcoach #agegroupswimming #swimmerlife #swimlife #swimming #athlete #instaswimming #instatips #swimsuits #chlorine https://www.instagram.com/p/CAIlTGpAEq0/?igshid=clcvefd93gpw
