If Jensen and Jared were getting $200k/$250k respectively per episode, plus residuals. What do you think their new pay is? Think Jared negotiated what he was making on spn for WTR (and why he got EP cred)? And with Jensen on theboys, is he making same per episode even tho it has only 8 eps and he may only be in half? (Which cuts his annual salary significantly). Or think he negotiated higher per episode fee to accommodate the lesser appearances. Curious on your thoughts.
You’re on the right track, Jared should be getting his SPN salary for Walker because he’s didn’t “take a break from the limelight”, which could be easily between $250K to $350K. His raise is in the form of EP credit paid through extra points (percentage) in the back end, which could be reruns, streaming, foreign market, or other means.
As for Jensen, I think he’s smart enough to not ask for anything other than scale for a recurring or regular role in exchange for The Boy’s 10 million viewers and keep himself in the public view. Plus, unless you’re a super A lister like Henry Carvill leading a show, salaries for streaming shows sucks and there’s no residuals.
Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Law & Order, and Supernatural will pay off for studios for decades with syndication money. That doesn’t happen at Netflix or Amazon for a four-year show. Every agent will tell you, “would I want Johnny Galecki, Ty Burrell and Mark Harmon versus Brad Pitt or Leo? For glamour and optics, I’d want Brad Pitt and Leo. But for taking my kids through college and retiring? I’d take those TV stars.”
